Hello Everyone!

I have a question and I hope I can explain this right. When ever I accelerate on a green light, my engine seems to really jump rpms after the initial gear change. I am running an automatic 2004 accord. This might be caused after occasional fast acceleration from a stopped position. In other words, sometimes I have to accelerate really fast to gain speed, such as merging without a merge in lane.:dunno:

Anyone know what could be the problem?

Is it a V6 Accord?

Sounds like your transmission is kaput.

Bascily--- Sometimes when I accelerate, and especially when I run the air conditioning, there is a very high rate of rpm climbs before switching to the 2nd gear. My accord is v6 Ex coupe

Not necessarily,

Usually it begins with some slippage between gears, noises, whines, and then if you wait too long they lock up on you (and sometimes unexpectedly).

I'd say the thing is on it's way to death.

There was a recall for an oil jet kit that needed to be installed on 2003 V6's, and I cannot remember if that applied to the 2004's or not. You might want to visit your dealer about the issue, and mention that you know of the high amount of failures on early 7th gen V6 transmissions. I suggest digging around the TSB's on the forums. A little searching could yield massive results.

I mentioned this in another thread you started about this issue; How long since a transmission drain and refill? Improper care of the transmission can keep you from getting goodwill repair from Honda, or even a warranty repair at that.
