View Full Version : 2004 Accord EX-L Sedan Drifting

I just purchased a used 2004 Accord EX-L sedan 2 months ago. It was driving fine for the past 2 months. I just drove the car from MA to NC and it seems that the car is drifting towards the left. The steering wheel is also turned slightly to the left and I need to compensate to the right in order to drive straight. I notice it more on the highway than on local roads.

Would it be the road causing this or low tire pressure? I doubt that I need an alignment this soon...

Thanks.

the fact that your steering wheel is off center means you most likely need an alignment. Dealers don't usually do alignments before they sell a used car. The tire pressure wouldn't affect it that bad unless one was really low.

If it was a Certified Pre-Owned Honda the alignment should've been done or checked before sale.

Otherwise a good $70 at a tire and brake shop should have you on track again. Literally! :lmao:

I would get an alignment and tell them to pay extra special attention to keeping the steering wheel centered (some alignment shops are very sloppy when it comes to this). My steering wheel is off center at the moment, though my tires do not pull, but sometimes it seems like my car is pulling due to the steering wheel playing tricks on me. It could be as simple as that and it makes it seem like it is pulling when it's just the steering wheel. If it's not that then it's most likely the tires. Check your tire pressure before anything though, could have a slow leak or something dumb.

I don't know how good Honda is about it, but I have heard that a lot of "certified" used sellers don't even do a lot of the things on the list, they just check everything off.

Well if they don't do it the customer will be back to get it done.

It's in their best interest to do what Honda requires.

Thanks for all your feedback. I'm not sure if there was an alignment done when the car was sold to me. I just got done with some highway driving so the tires were hot but here are the tire pressure readings:

Front left: 37psi
Back left: 34psi
Back right: 35psi
Front right: 38psi

I am going to re-test the tire pressures after the car sits for awhile...and if the temperature of the tires go down in this 100+ degree heat!

my brand new car was like that when i first bought it, i thought it was because it wasnt broken in yet. 2000 miles later its still the same, i took it in for warranty they did a front end alignment and now its perfect.
