Man, just compare the '08s interior to that of the '03s.... the '03s is so much cleaner looking.

Absulutely NO comparison - IMO the 03 were the Honda benchmark

I am looking forward to seeing the new interior in person to make final judgement. It is also not completely fair to compare the zoomed in close up of the center stack to the wide shot of the 7th generation cabin. The details of the seam lines fade in the 7th generation shot, whereas they are very visible in the 8th generation shot. A little apples to oranges....

One disappointing thing is still the lack of a "Tune" knob for the audio system. Does the control for the Navi unit allow you to tune stations like an "old-fashioned" knob? Tuning XM stations with the push button on the dash on non-Navi Accords is a PIA!! My only big wish list item for the new car was a better set of audio controls on the dash and the steering wheel. It looks like the carryover controls where the "CH" button only moves between pre-sets. Still a PIA for XM channel hopping outside of your presets.

Oh well, we can't have everything .... :dunno: ... right?

flcma99,

Why not use the steering wheel tune controls?

I am awaiting these to hit the lots so I can see what it looks like in person. Every new model is better than the previous and that is what keeps it in front.

flcma99,

Why not use the steering wheel tune controls?

While steering wheel controls are fantastic, they cherry pick what controls to actually offer due to limited real estate in comparison to the center stack.

As such controls are ultimately/inevitably excluded and while there is a reduction in how often I need to use the HU controls when I do need to it is ohh so nice to reach for my 7gen's ergonomic and sensibly places aesthetically pleasing controls

I will hold all remaining final judgement for my official viewing...

until then,

Nothing wrong with the dash. Its not as clean as a 7th gen. But I think the 7th gen dash is a modern work of art.

I see us buying a 8th gen Accord down the road. I showed my wife the pics. She ok'ed it with a slight hummm. But she still has many miles left on Ruby and shes very happy with it.

Im looking twords a EX I4 5mt Coupe in two years. Im liking the the two door. :)

flcma99,

Why not use the steering wheel tune controls?

The controls on the steering wheel for "CH"annel only move up and down through your presets. Back in the day of terrestrial radio that was fine. But with XM, tuning though the myriad of choices is much easier with a dedicated "TUNE" button. I have both on my truck - on button moves through the presets and one is a "Seek" that moves channel-by-channel, so I can easily listen to other channels that are outside of my "preset" preferences, which is the whole reason for having XM in the first place -- choices!! But, even a "tune" knob would be easier and faster; for instance, local traffic is ch 229 (Orlando), but I have to use it as a preset, because tuning that far with a push button "tune" is s-l-o-o-o-o-w ... :lmao: ha-ha. I get used to it, until I spend a weekend driving the truck and "spoil" myself channel surfing.

I have a 2003 navi non-XM car. It has 2 "old-fashioned" knobs, one on each side. One is for scrolling through each individual radio station (ie, 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, etc.), and one knob for controlling the volume. I also have the push button for seek, for those stations that are in "range", but not on the preset. I prefer it over my mom's Civic. Her's you have to manually push through each station, no seek/scan button, and no knob, which would make it so much faster.

I disagree, I think the 08's interior is far superior, but the 03'-07' looks good too. Here are some pics of both for comparison, first 2 are of an 07', last 2 are an 08'. I think they are both catered to people with different tastes, the 07' seems to be a more rounded and smooth car in general and the 08 seems to be sharper and more refined edges inside and out IMO. You decide...
