I dont know anything about a rain sensor. The only thing I noticed when my wipers are on, if you stop at a light or something, the wipers stop. THen once the car moves again the wipers go. thought that was pretty cool. dont know if thats what you are talking about

I thought the 7th gen Accords has rain sensing windshield wipers. As in they would automatically come on when it started raining. Is this not correct?

The 7th Gen does not have rain sensing wipers. When the intermittent wiper is set to the shortest interval, it automatically switches to slow speed at about 15 MPH. When you stop again, it goes back to interval wipe.
A great feature for those misty not quite enough rain days. Also the wipers will take one sweep whenever you take your foot off the brake, no matter what interval they are set at. Pretty neat stuff for a car that doesn't have a timer on the rear window defroster or heated outside mirrors.

I thought that all the honda had timers on their RW defroster??? I think it's like 25-30 minutes...more than enough time to get rid of just about anything and everything....

i was looking for a rain-sensor for my 4th gen...any recommendations???

I think you're right on the defroster. The rain-sensor I'm not so sure about. I think, though, that it will be such a hassle to retrofit that you'd probably rather just reach for the switch every few minutes :)

from what they tell me, all i would have to do is mount the sensor on the windshield somewhere (probably around the r/v mirror), and then wire it to the wiper controls...i think that it takes over for the INT function...not too sure...i do a decent amount of city driving as well, so it would be nice to have it for that as well... ;)

Honda uses a speed actuated control for their wipers on 6th and 7th gen..
It sounds like the type your referring to is like BMW/Jag/Benz with the sensor mounted on the back of rear view mirror windshield mount and actually senses water on glass.

I have the rain sensing on my BMW... it is not that great

For my $$$... I can turn on the wipers manually... i really am not that lazy!

PLUS... you have to turn up the wipers if the rain gets harde... it only turns tham on to a specific speed... if doing that ANYWAY... why not turn on the wipers?

Just a *BUMP* for this thread.

There's a UK option for rain sensing wipers in their Accord (our Acura TSX) .

Maybe it can fit in ours too, or the JDM inspire will have rain sensing wipers that we can fit in ours.

New Zealand has the option too in the normal Accord.

I'm surprised those of you in the U.S. don't seem to.

My '02 Civic had the defrost timer, but my '04 Accord does not; I can be driving for hours and it is still on. The rear defrost light used to shut off in my Civic when it was timed out; my Accord, unfortunately doesn't have that feature. Guess Honda needs "something" to differentiate the two cars. :D

Hmmm - my 05 Accord LX sedan has the rear window defogger that shuts off after 5 minutes or so. Wonder if your switch has a problem? The only defroster I've seen that doesn't shut off is the one for the mirrors on the wife's pilot - those seem to stay on until you turn 'em off.....

Great point! I wonder... :dunno:
I'll have to look at the owners manual again tonight...
I've had to use the rear defroster a lot lately due to the morning crisp weather and I'll turn it on in the driveway and will have to manually turn it off when I pull into the garage at work. I'll let you know...

Ok- went to my OwnersLink account and went down through the "comfort and conveniences" in my car; it DOES state it is supposed to have the timer.

You don't think that the defroster would turn off and the light on the console still be on...do you? This has me curious now.

I doubt the light would stay on if the defogger is turned off automatically. It's too confusing of a design and honda would never let that happen. ;)

I tested the defogger for 1.5 hours and it doesn't seem to go off at all. I don't think it's on a timer. Defogger timers usually last for only 20 minutes or so.
