samsonskeg 08-20-2007, 08:28 PM When i bought my accord with the new body style in 03, it was mid august. And seems about the right time.. Now, vtec.net would only load those damn pics... that would be great
Nimoxp 08-20-2007, 08:45 PM Pictures look pretty good.
Yep. And there is one moron who shall remain nameless (he knows who he is) who argued to death why it just wouldn't make sense to put a 3.5L under the hood. I mean this idiot wrote an entire book of posts about it, insulting anyone who dared defy his supreme logic (supremely assine is more like it). Apparently he knows more then the industry magazines, more then the industry websites, and even more then Honda, because guess what, it got a 3.5L V6! Isn't that a kick in the ass!

Nimoxp 08-20-2007, 09:25 PM Yeah this looks pretty ugly.

accordexlv6 08-20-2007, 10:03 PM Yeah this looks pretty ugly.

Oh my Lord.
That is so Civic-ish, I can't believe it. I haven't looked at any of the other pictures as of this moment, but that dash is a huge step back in cohesiveness and detailing... tons of cutlines/seams, lines and curves going every which way, and just an overall feeling of change for change sake, not to make it better. The AC vents look terrible compared to the Gen7. All around, it makes me sad.
I am shocked. But, then again I will replace my Accord with an Infiniti (RWD) when the time comes so it really doesn't affect me.
namegoeshere 08-20-2007, 10:05 PM Still liking the coupe, but the sedan is still :thumbsdow
The rear of the sedan looks like a cross between a Ford Crown Victoria and a Hyundai.
I like the front end of both, but if you look at them from the side it looks weird.... kinda too chunky/square-ish. :dunno: It's not aero dynamic looking enough.
The interior looks cheap.... plastic-ish, especially with that silver trim. As accordexlv6 said, very Civic-ish. Yuck!
And now that I can see the speedometer/tachometer better.... I don't like it.
The engine specs are pretty impressive. Good to see they haven't dumped the MT completely
- 177hp and 190hp 2.4L 4-cylinder engines offered with 5AT and 5MT transmissions
- 268hp 3.5L 6-cylinder engine, available with 5AT and VCM in sedan, or 5AT/6MT in coupe
Bring on the 9th Gen.
Accordlover 08-20-2007, 10:16 PM I love it.
I want a Red Coupe with Black Cloth or Leather combined with the EX's 200HP i4 with the 5MT.
Or.
A Graphite, Black, or White Sedan. w/190HPi4 5MT.
Coupe coupe coupe!!!
alpha 08-20-2007, 10:31 PM Also on hondacars.com
http://automobiles.honda.com/2008-accord/
Little details I like:
- AUTO up and down on both front windows
- Heated mirror control integrated with rar defroster button
- Variable ratio steeering
- Lower center of gravity (even tho its larger)
- 225/50R17 tires standard on some models :naughty: with front strut tower bar on all EX (2.4L also) and V6.
- At night, the controls are separated by color to distinguish between climate controls (aqua green) and audio controls (white).
- One touch moonroof controls and moonroof can be closed with key in drivers door.
- Active Noise Cancellation in EX and all V6 models
- Auto dim mirror standard in EX-L and V6 models
- Upgraded audio system: MP3, RDS, Speed Volume control, AUX,(all trims) and subwoofer (EX-L and V6)
Will have to wait and see:
- Sedan now classified as an EPA "large" car :paranoid:
- For being a "large" car, storage space seems to have gone down. Front door pockets look much smaller and there doesn't seem to be a place to put a water bottle in there. The center sotrage bin is gone.
- Still no split folding rear seat in the sedan
- 6 CD changer doesn't seem to be on the EX . . .EX-L and above models only.
Can't wait to see it in person

- Heated mirror control integrated with rar defroster button
- Upgraded audio system: MP3, RDS, Speed Volume control, AUX,(all trims) and subwoofer (EX-L and V6)
I can't wait to see it in person either. I want to see the rear ends in person, I just can't seem to get past how it doesn't tend to flow with the rest of the car in the pics. I do hold my opinion until I see it in person though; it may completely change my mind.
I actually like having the heated mirror control separate.
In terms of the audio system, it would be nice if they make ELS systems an option.

Yes, I was wrong. I had a number of reasons why it didn't make sense to me for Honda do put a 3.5 in, and those reasons didn't matter as they put a 3.5L in after all. Though, my latter posts on the topic were more about sources of rumors than anything. Anyway, again, I was wrong. Way to be totally bitter and be a complete jerk about it. Though, I don't expect anything else out of you at this point.
chanke4252 08-21-2007, 02:19 AM Yeah this looks pretty ugly.

Actually, to me, that's one of the less ugly pictures that I've seen. It still doesn't flow quite right, but hell if I don't like the steering wheel. I agree with accordexlv6 in that I think that it is a change for the sake of change as well. The top of the dash just seems completely out of place and seems seperated somehow from the lower portion. I think it would have looked much better had they kept all of the surfaces on the main portion of the dash on a similar plane and not having the nav unit so far away relative to everything else. I understand why it's pushed back in that little cubby, and I'm sure it will make it easier when dealing with keeping direct sunlight off the screen (This has been an issue for me about 2 times in the past year), it just looks off. In it's defense, however, I think it'd be hard to beat the 7th gen in terms of flow and simple functionality while retaining a pleasing aesthetic. Every time I see a picture of the 7th gen dash I realize how much I like it. Kind of numbs you to it when you see it every day. I am not sure, but is the dash going to be the same for the coupe and sedan? I know that the 7th gens are pretty much identical, but this seems more like a sedan type dash to me, maybe I'm crazy (I am). I do like the area around the shifter though, looks pretty clean. Kind of tsx-ish.
blueasianmonkey 08-21-2007, 04:06 AM i am so dissapointed in the features....i mean although i feel kinda jipped that i didn't get the all wheel disc application/all vsa application...its kinda a jip..im pretty glad i got a 7th gen...i think we all have to cool our jets here...jsut relax everyone..it's JSUT a forum..
blueasianmonkey 08-21-2007, 04:18 AM but u know what....if tthey sell this sedan accord in US..which i doubt kuz the inspire is hot and they dont sell it here......http://www.vtec.net/forums/one-message?message%5fid=702663&article%5fid=702301
that is HOT...HOT HOT HOT
KunalPatel87 08-21-2007, 04:21 AM  I can't wait to get one of these in 5 years!! Haha.
They look awesome.
Good job Honda.
blueasianmonkey 08-21-2007, 04:24 AM oh yea..oFFICIAL HONDA WEBSITE FOR THE 2008 accord... http://automobiles.honda.com/2008-accord/ but click on my previous url in the other post from vtec..i swear it's a hottt ass car
Anyone notice the difference in front bumpers at the fog light area on the sedans? I mean I know honda has different bumper styles between coupe and sedan but now it looks like different ones between sedan trims. I'm sure theres other things like this but it was the first one that jumped out at me. Makes me wonder what it would take to add a set of fogs in the gray model.

WolfpackBill 08-21-2007, 06:21 AM - Active Noise Cancellation in EX and all V6 models
Hope they fixed the problem. Our '05 Odyssey has this droning noise whenever the VCM is activated. It's annoying!!
honda761 08-21-2007, 06:25 AM Geez when Honda decides to join the ranks of big Powerful V6 they just dont take a mild step to 3.2 and avoid passing the TL, they jump right on in! As a driver who bought his car for performance and overall excellence I think I can certainly overlook some ill fits of the interior when Honda is going to provide such kick butt numbers for its 3.5. I just glanced at the TL boards and its pretty quiet. For 08 the TL sales are dead in the water.
Good job Honda, bring it on!!
GRdotNet 08-21-2007, 06:51 AM No 6MT V6 sedan? I'm very glad I bought an 07 now! I do realize that I'm in the severe minority, 99.9% of Accord owners would never pay almost 30k to have to shift for themselves, but still.
RTexasF 08-21-2007, 07:25 AM The V-6 6 speed sedan went the way of the hybrid.....gone.
No question of the new V-6 muscle but the 190 HP 2.4 should make for an interesting drive. I was hoping the torque would be up though.
Jake07V6 08-21-2007, 07:29 AM I love the interior. I want the 3.5 V6
He admitted he was wrong in another thread. Dont be an ass.
Well, I didn't see any other such thread (and frankly I'm not looking for anything he posts on anyway). But, he needed a little egg on his face, so yes, I will be "an ass." It's normally not in my nature, but when this idiot decided to insult my intelligence, my reading comprehension, and my judgement, and made it personal all because I posted that Motor Trend reported a 3.5L under the hood, then all bets are off. To get so defensive and to become so insulting simply because in his little world it didn't make sense why Honda would stuff a 3.5L under the hood indicates he has bigger problems then just a simple disagreement. Obviously he should probably seek some counseling.
So, I'm done. Hopefully he learned a little lesson in humility and that he doesn't know everything (I don't think he knows much actually), and that his opinion isn't the only opinion that's valid. He probably owes the editiors at Motor Trend an apology too, but he can take care of that on his own.

car divorced 08-21-2007, 01:09 PM I am happy to see that all of the safety equipment, including stability control, is standard on every Accord -- even the base LX. I like how the official Honda site (http://automobiles.honda.com/2008-accord/) says "Safety isn't just for those who can afford it". Very impressive -- that's the type of thinking that would push me to buy Honda again.

Hyundai did this years ago....
I'm glad Honda is doing this though. GM, Ford, and Dodge still make this stuff optional...
samsonskeg 08-21-2007, 02:02 PM im still waiting for the grenade launcher options on my accord
psyshack 08-21-2007, 02:52 PM Honda will bring the v6 6mt sedan back later in this gens life cycle. They want to milk the hands that feed them first and foremost. Then when sales slip a bit they will freshen up this gen and bring the 6mt back.

That might entice me but I'm not a fan of the looks of the '08 sedan so far. Seeing it in person always looks differently than a photo but so far :thumbsdow.
When the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO shows up next year I may have to take a serious look at it. I like the looks of the new Lancer and even with a CVT the 2.0l will run right with a current day Accord 2.4 manual 0-60 and spank it in the 1/4 mile.

I think the 7thgen Sedan is a work of art. Inside and out. Our 05 in r.red with the red tails is a slick combo. The new sedan dosent look right. Nor did the 8th gen Civic Sedan until I saw one. Then I bought it. LMAO.
The new Accord coupe is speaking to me. :) I would like to see a I4 hybrid Accord Sedan or Coupe with a MT in it. I would more than likely then purchase one in 09. But that isnt going to happen.
Before I purchased the mz3 I looked at the new Lancer. Its a nice car. I would have purchased one of those if the bigger I4 had been out. It comes out next year. :) I still like driving my brothers rally art.
At any rate I will drive the mz3 for atleast two years. Then see how its all shaken out. No more first year purchase's on new gens. Be it Honda or anybody else. I knew better. Just had to relearn. :)
I can see the wife wanting a new sedan in afew years.

plunk10 08-22-2007, 11:46 AM that car looks BIG on the inside.
Bluetooth is available in all models? or just in models with Navi? :dunno:
College Hills Honda had an accessory Blue Tooth kit listed for all models, except NAVI. Its not on the site now but neither are a lot of the other accessories they originally had listed. It should be a nicely integrated accessory especially since all models will hae an LCD screen front and center.
benjaminh 08-22-2007, 04:26 PM I'm thinking about a myst green EXL I-4 5-speed manual with navi. That's probably about 28k or so + ttl...and it would need to be special ordered, I bet, because most dealers don't order manuals for the high end models.
My thoughts on the new Accord. I like the side view the best, but the back and front are just so-so for me. I also feel mixed about the larger size. But could I use that room with the wife and two kids + luggage on a tri?. Sure could. We can fit in our 02 Accord, but we're a bit crowded. I like that the rear pillar on the Accord is thinner for better visibility. I didn't like the thick pillars on the 7th generation much.
I like that all the safety features are standard. I used to be able to use that as an excuse to get a high end model, but no more.
And the interior looks great to me. The 03-07s are nice, but the 08 looks truly luxurious. I never had a chance to own a 1992 Acura Legend (one of my many dream cars) until now... (well, at least a few months from now, and I may wait 8-12 months for them to work out some of the first year bugs.)
joerockt 08-22-2007, 04:39 PM Anyone who get's a 4 banger would be crazy not to go with the 190hp version. Numbers are impressive all around. Too bad the sedan looks like shit. Everytime I see a pic of it, I think "Hyundai"
Succinct 08-22-2007, 05:19 PM '08 Accord Coupe > sedan in looks.
I may have missed it, but has anyone else noticed a lack of steering wheel paddles or even a +/- deal for the 8th gen V6 automatic? Sheesh, even the current Sonata V6 has the +/- manu-matic deal-eo. If you want the goodies, especially an aesthetically pleasing sedan, looks like you'll need to visit your smug Acura dealer....
I kind of like the interior, but not all of the busy buttons. I do NOT like the bulbous front end, and pretty much dislike the c-pillars rearward on the sedan. The coupe looks a lot better aft of the A-pillar, but the bulbousness of the front end is even more accentuated by the sleeker body. Suckiness. This will make it easy to live with my '06 for quite a few years, as was my original plan anyway....

I right now agree with you. I have 03 accord and still like how it looks. I like the 07 look to which is almost the same. I guess they wanted to make it bigger. But I guess price goes up and we will see how that effects sales? Probably not effect cause it is a good car. But saying just too big for me.
rfs830 08-23-2007, 09:48 AM Anyone know when prices will be posted. Im looking at getting either a 4cy 5 speed or a v6 exl but that will depends on price. Able to spend 35k but dont know if I really want to.
I wont be buying for about 6 months so that should give me time to see everyones reviews and how they like the new 190hp 4cly and 5 speed.
benjaminh 08-23-2007, 10:54 AM I think I read that prices will be announced Sept. 11 (maybe they should have picked another day?) and that the new Accords will go on sale Sept. 12. I think I also read that prices would only be c. $200-800 or so higher than today's models. If so, the 08 Accord will be a good deal. If you take the price of an 07 LX Accord and you give it disc brakes, VSA, brake assist, EBD, traction control, steering wheel audio controls, ACE body structure, more, room, more powerful engine, etc., and it only costs $800 more, it sounds like a good price (I realize that the 07s have incentives on them now and so they can be had at 1000 or so under invoice, while the 08s will be close to list for a while). My guess is that that would put list prices for autos at: 22k for the LX, 23k for the LXP, 24.5 for the EX, 26 for the EXL, 28.5 for the EXLV6, and 31 for the EXLV6 navi.
The model I most want would be the EXL I-4 5-speed manual with navi, which currently has a list price of $26,800. I'm hoping, probably unrealistically, that that's the model that goes up only 200, and can be had for c.27 even at list price. It'll probably be more like 27.5.
Nimoxp 08-24-2007, 06:03 PM Man looking at the photos of the sedan, it really seems they screwed up the design of the rear bad. Really weak comapred to the fronts agressive look. The coupe isnt as bad, but still not great. Maybe a fix will come in the next few years like they did on the 06-07 coupe.

I like EX V6 sedan beige interior.
I second that!!! The beige (ivory) interior with the wood trim looks much better to my eye than the dark grey and black interior shots with the metallic trim. The dark interior gives you too many shades of gray (IMHO). I also think this shot shows more of the dimension to the dash than some of the straight on shots that are receiving such criticism. I think it is an improvement over the 7th generation that has pieces, panels and seam lines everywhere. This one is still "busy", but overall cleaner looking to me.
