Yay for auto off AND ON headlights and auto lock/unlock doors!
Boo for the TPMS not showing specifically which tire is low.
stevel 08-26-2007, 07:35 AM does it matter which tire is low? if you have one low, personally I say you should check them all anyways, no?
stevencrosbie 08-26-2007, 07:49 AM I like the Acura TPMS that tells you the specific pressures of each tire....that was nice....such a shame they didn't give that to Honda...
flcma99 08-26-2007, 08:10 AM Headlamp bulb replacement is still a nice knucklebusting expereince!! Ahyyy!! The sacrifices for style!! :dunno:
Nice to see there seems to be a "TUNE" knob functionality for both navi and non-navi radios.

interesting. in Audi land you have to buy an A8 to see the pressure of each tire. A3, A4, A6, and Q7 all are just idiot lights, aparently just like Honda is doing. it's all you need though. oh wait, you don't even need that. thanks ford.
:thumbsdow Outside temp still doesn't have its own dedicated space on the dash.
I also thought the dashbright/odo push button would be relocated out of the gauge cluster.
 Interesting note that the rear defroster is on a timer again - but for AUTO climate control only. It will stay on 10 - 30 minutes depending on the outside temp.
Programmable door lock functions.
New rear seat back release mechanism.
Moonroof open/closes with the remote. Moonroof has one touch open/close button.
jermy4 08-27-2007, 04:50 PM Anybody know if the 08 has electroluminescent gauges?
stevencrosbie 08-27-2007, 04:52 PM I can't tell from the pictures. Something tells me it does...it is just less obvious than the years before.
I feel it is a step backwards if they get rid of them.
jermy4 08-27-2007, 04:54 PM Something tells me from the pics that I have seen that the backlighting only comes on when the headlights are on and is not needed during the dayime unlike the current gauges.
WolfpackBill 08-27-2007, 05:53 PM No LED gauges. Just your normal, ordinary gauge. Boo!!

IMO, LED gauges would be a whole lot brighter than this in daylight, like our 7 gen Accords.
stevencrosbie 08-27-2007, 06:36 PM One more reason to keep the Acura. One of the reasons I liked the Accord so much was the gauge cluster....cost savings...gotta love them.

You know you want the new accord.:D
gewf631 08-28-2007, 05:26 AM Honda brought-back some features from earlier models:
- cover over front cup holders
- "door" and "off" modes for front spotlights
The radio finally accepts MP3 disks.
Compass in non-Navi EX-L's.
That Bluetooth section is LONG!
Jack and such sit on top of the spare tire, and not in a side compartment.
Looks like Honda is dropping the LED lights in both the tail and high-mount brake locations.
The EX and V6 models use 50-series tires
fastball 08-28-2007, 07:22 PM I don't know if I'd gauge when to change the timing belt according to the maintenance minder system now. It says Class A, B, or C, and sub 1, 2, and 3, and if it shows A3 that means timing belt time......
I'd rather just do it at 90k like normal.
Other brighter notes.....
I saw in the link to accessories that there will be a Bluetooth dealer accessory for non-Navi models. Will this be a plug and play, full integration into the factory audio system for auto muting of stereo and caller ID display in the dashboard LCD monitor? Or will it just be some half ****ed hack job with a goofy contraption stucko'd to your dash that won't integrate to the audio system?
Love the full auto headlamps - Honda has been woefully behind the times with this feature, even in Acuras. If there's anything GM ever did right, before anyone else, was make a fully automatic headlamp system that senses light levels, so the user never has to touch a thing.
Ditto the full auto up/down for all the windows (six speed coupe I mean - I'm not interested in the sedan). Complete with auto-reverse safety.
All in all, great looking car packed with great features. I'll overlook the minor shortcomings of this generation (lack of progressive illumination gauges, still not using the most ingenious system of ingress/egress to the back seats from the 2002 Acura CL coupe that was ever invented) and give it my full approval.
I cannot WAIT to test drive one :)
Accordlover 08-28-2007, 07:31 PM I'd rather just do it at 90k like normal.
At least it tells people when to change it. Most don't even know they need to change it!
And the interval is 105k... for V6 Models only. The 4cyl's have auto adjusting chains.
accordexlv6 08-29-2007, 09:38 AM Hmmmm.... Auto ON and off headlites? One touch open/close sunroof switch on the ceiling? Programmable auto locking? Geez, when I and some others would lament these omissions on our current Accords (in the Likes/Dislikes threads), there were those who railed against us as lazy, or just not appreciative of Honda's "quirkiness" in failing to provide such basic items that I've had in my Nissans (and others) since 1989. Vindicated!:D
If Honda has gotten rid of that stupid interior rear shelf lock release for the rear seat, then Honda has truly entered the mainstream (and 20th century)!
Still no split rear seat... just dumb. Our Maxima SE has it and it is quite structurally stiff, thank you very much.
I even like the return to the black steering wheel, but the tons of black plastic on the console and door switch area is a step back. Also, the subtler application of wood inlays in the gen7 is more realistic... large swathes in the 2008 look heavy-handed and forced.
Finally, the loss of the black-out effect of the gauges and a much more conventional look is not as nice. All that's going on with the gauges seems to add to the dash's busy design.
Oh well... change for change sake seems to be Honda's goal in the interior design.
dampfnudel 09-01-2007, 06:04 PM For those people who kept asking for it (not me), the new Accord has RDS. For those not familiar with RDS, it stands for Radio Data System (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Data_System).
fastball 09-02-2007, 05:18 PM I got a kick out of this - from the Coupe manual, page 337:
"High Speed Driving
V6 Models Only
We strongly recommend that you do
not drive faster than the posted
speed limits and conditions allow. If
you ever drive in a sanctioned
competitive event at sustained high
speeds (over 118 mph or 190 km/h),
be sure to adjust the cold tire
pressures as shown below. If you do
not, excessive heat can build up and
cause sudden tire failure."
I bet the V6 6 speed can do 130 in it's sleep..... You think if I ever get a ticket I could use this if I get pulled over? Maybe a judge would believe my argument that Honda said it's okay to speed so long as my tires have proper air pressure :)

Umm...your quote says "We strongly recommend that you do not drive faster than the posted speed limits and conditions allow." That alone would have you, and of course gets Honda off the hook. Then it goes on to mention that if the car is driven at a high rate of speed during a "sanctioned competitive event" then it would be a good idea to adjust the tire pressures. I don't think that your local driving is considered a sanctioned competitive event.
FYI - Another new detail . . .
2008 owners manual, pages 198, 199 . . . the steering wheel controls will select radio presets and seek/skip channels
You can also select CD tracks or the previous/next disc.
In MP3 mode it will go to the previous/next folder or song.
The new features are accessed by tapping or holding the appropriate button.
