This isn't fair! My 2007 "premium" coupe should have come with all of that. Okay, I'm getting depressed. I'm going to stop looking at the 08's now!
rfs830 08-27-2007, 07:06 PM Im glad I waited. This is the accord for me. Now if I can only decide between a 4cy 5 speed or a auto v6. I already knowim getting exl nav
I really like this new accord
flcma99 08-27-2007, 07:27 PM I didn't wait ... but I am still pretty sure that I am trading late this year for a 2008. :naughty: If you want it, get it!!:D With the resale value of the Accords, I am still ahead of break-even on my 2006 at this point, so I figure "why not?".

$$$$$$$+first year problems....no thank you. The new Tundra has rattle problems, every new Honda product is rattling.....I'd think you did ok on the 2007.

wow, toyota is having rattle issues too? damn, whats the world of automotives coming to? not every new honda rattles nor has many first year problems.
i hope that honda has learned their lesson and rattle-proofed the new accord. my accord has rattles intermittently, but not enough to make me not want the car. the worst part about rattles is that dealerships will either fix them, tell you its normal, or create more rattles in the process.
stevencrosbie 08-27-2007, 07:41 PM True...not every Honda rattles....
I'm just very sour on my TL and the rattles....I wish it wouldn't rattle...
stiller fan 08-27-2007, 07:48 PM steve,
i thought you got the rattles fixed???
stevencrosbie 08-27-2007, 07:50 PM No, I still have the same rattle. They made it go away for a week...its back, and louder.
I want a truck...but I want to pay cash...so I will keep the TL until I can pay cash....
I am calling Acura Customer Service again tomorrow to schedule an appointment for the 8th of Sept. I am leaving it in El Paso until it's fixed, someone steals it, it blows up, etc....
chanke4252 08-27-2007, 08:00 PM What rattles do you have? I remember you complaining about it when it first warmed up this spring, but haven't heard much since.
stevencrosbie 08-27-2007, 08:05 PM I gave up. I was tired of taking it to Pikes Peak Acura. My rattle is in the rear deck over any rough pavement or concrete. It is a metallic rattle...
I also have one in my passenger door.....
The car was in the shop for the entire month of May until the 29th of May as I got it back the day before graduation. It rattled the next week...but I spent a lot of the summer traveling w/ my car parked. I haven't had time to take it to the dealership in El Paso yet...

You and a LOT of other people. I've been forecasting a big depreciation hit on the 03-07 Accords all year. It has already begun, though not as rapid as I thought. If the 08 truly kicks ass, then they should depreciate quite a bit. I think all the problems that the new Camry initially had saved the depreciation on the previous generation.
So I guess my advice is this. Do it, sooner than later. There will be a lot more supply than demand for the now previous generation (7th) of Accords as I bet a bunch of folks will be thinking the same way you are.
Simple answer to this problem/question
$$$$$$$+first year problems....no thank you.
Yeah, exactly. As good as Honda is, I'm sure the 2008 will have first year issues like all new cars. Some are worse then others, but there is no way the 08 will be problem free. Even the 09's will have "teething problems." The 8th gen 2010 models will probably be rock solid by that point.
I'm just being whiny, I'm very grateful I have a new car as nice as my Accord. Lots of people driving used beaters without A/C who would kill to be able to afford my car. In the scheme of things all of those options on the 08 model are nice and I wish my car had them, but it doesn't take away from my enjoyment or appreciation of my 7th gen at all.
For some money I can add a headunit that plays MP3's, WMA files, has an AUX port, and uses GPS to calculate speed sensitive volume. And even if I really want to splurge (about $2,000) I can buy an in-dash Alpine or Pioneer touch-screen navigation system that does all of that plus provide navigation (voice controlled even), bluetooth, plays DVD movies, and allows you to rip your songs to a hard drive. Besides the power passenger seat and the auto open/close moonroof there isn't much the 08 Accord has that I can't add. I've already added the auto-dim rearview mirror and foglights.
And no way in hell I'm trading this car in. Because I got the car for $8K off MSRP I have positive equity in the car, and could trade it in easily but I don't believe in doing that. Eventually the goal (for me) will be not to have a car payment. There will always be nicer, better, faster, safer cars every year, you can't go trading in all the time for the latest and greatest. Well I guess you can, but that's not smart in my opinion and I don't believe in doing that. Cars are really a waste of money, a necessary evil for most of us, but a waste nonetheless.
SatinSilver 08-28-2007, 11:02 AM Dgs,
You got the car for $8k off sticker($20k)? I thought you said earlier you ended up getting it for $2k under invoice when you picked it up($23.5k) which is $4500 off sticker.

If I could get one on my Ody, I would ASAP, as long as it had the thing that displays the song on the radio for my wife...........:)

I don't quite remember, I thought it was like $7K or $8K off MSRP. I will have to look at my sales contract again for the exact amount and I'm at work now, so later tonight if I have time.
I know for a fact the dealership did not make any money on the deal. They needed to move a unit and that's all they did. I ate up all of their holdback money and incentives.
justblink778 08-28-2007, 04:06 PM I'm also considering upgrading. I love my car and it's been flawless so far...not even a SINGLE rattle after 50k miles.
But fact is I still owe $9k and have 3 years left on my loan. [The LX was a deal I couldn't pass up]. If I trade up to a new EX, it might be $100 more a month, and of course I'd start all over with a 60-month loan (would pay it off earlier than that, though). That's why I haven't paid the '05 off yet.
I really miss the sunroof in my old EX and i've never had leather before.
Do you guys think it's a worthwhile trade up? Of course a bad financial move, but if I get everything I want on this new one I can keep it for 6-7 years. I'd keep my '05 if it was an EX-L.

You only owe $9K on a 2005? Wow, either you put down a huge chunk of change when you bought the car, or you got a serious deal on the car (and you put down a huge chunk of change), or you're making huge payments. $9K is great, definitely puts you in a postive equity position.
You know my feeling on trading out of new cars, I think it's dumb, unless you don't mind always having a car payment that is. But in your case it's a bit different. For one, unlike 95% of the population who trade out of cars in the first year or two, you don't have any negative equity. Rolling negative equity into a new car purchase is crazy. I can't believe how many people willingly do this for no reason other then they want something newer then what they have. Foolish. Since you don't have any that makes trading out for you much better.
Second thing is, I believe you need to be happy with what you own if you're making a car payment every month. I don't think there could be anything worse then paying between $300-$450 a month for something you're not happy with. If you're really not happy with your car then because of your positive equity situation a trade might be okay. I personally couldn't live without a sunroof, mine is open all the time except for when the sun is beating down on top of the car. Otherwise it's open. I have the A/C cranked in the summer, and the heater cranked in the winter when it's open. The open sunroof lets fresh air in and gives a really airy feeling in the cabin. I love it and I can understand your regret not having one. Plus I don't believe in adding aftermarket sunroof, totally ruins the structural integrity of the car. I would never do it.
So in your case I say go for it. I have only one caveat though, if I were you I would hold on and not buy the 2008 model. You know buying a first model year of any car, even a Honda is a risk. You don't want to be a guinea pig, let everyone else who is too impatient to wait do that for you. Buy the car in the 2009 model year when the big bugs are worked out. All you're worried about is the big stuff (I think the first batch of new Civic's had break failures and recalls) and that usually gets taken care of in the first year.
Good luck man whatever you do!
I generally agree with talon95. First year models shouldn't be anything to be too concerned about. I would be more concerned with past customer service experiences - the vehicle typically isn't the problem - getting the problem fixed in a satisfactory manner is usually the problem.
My 2003 was awesome. Yes there were a few hiccups - brakes and a couple other TSBs - but nothing that ever left me inconvenienced or anything I had to "fight" to get. The repairs were made quickly and at no time was I ever made to feel as if I was bothering my dealer for asking. (**VW Service Dept - did u hear that!?)
If I like the 08s, I won't hesitate to purchase one myself.
stiller fan 08-29-2007, 01:22 PM Funny about the advice about not buying a new design or redesign in the first model year. I followed that advice with my first Honda, a 2000 EX-L V6, which was the third year of its generation. The transmission flaw in that generation made itself apparent the very first day (clunk while backing up), and it was back at the dealership in about 2 months getting the transmission replaced. Needless to say, I wasn't happy... here I get my first Honda, a brand with a reputation for great reliability, and it ends up needing the most significant warranty procedure of any car I ever owned. And this problem didn't exist (AFAIK) on the '98s and '99s, so waiting until the third year of the generation didn't do me any good.
the AT's were bad during, i believe, the entire generation (98-02)....
nothing really much you could have done there.... :sorry:
Best of luck to those buying an 08. It's a beautiful car and I really do hope it's trouble free. If any auto manufacture can make a trouble free first model car it's Honda/Acura. I can't wait to start reading forum subscriber reviews rather than the "professional" reviews. I trust people who have to live with the car every day rather then a reviewer given a car for a week or even a couple of days. I bet that 08 6-speed coupe is going to be an absolute blast. Can't wait to see one in person.
