The wife and I took stock in Ruby yesterday.

We noticed her peaking around the corner of the porch at us as we where relaxing. We noticed her sheepish grin from the grill. A pretty cut back off her right headlight to a well done fender flare. The seam from the hood to the fender was nice and even since I redid the hood alignment. She had a cat like stance. A reassuring look of " I will be here when needed ". You can count on me.

Then the thought came to both of us. Poor thing hasn't been cleaned up in a while. The MZ3 was setting there spotless. ( my car is always clean )

So we washed her up, dressed her tires. Cleaned up her cabin. We then took her for a drive. I let her stretch her legs a bit. Had her dig pretty hard in a few corners. Wagged finger at her AT tranny. Then the wife took over and showed her some love.

When we got back home. We set in the back seat. Tried a couple of frisky moves. :). Got back in the front seats. Opened the trunk and looked it over. Opened the hood and patted the engine. Set on the front porch and looked her over. Then took her for another short drive. We compliment her wonderful controls and sheer beauty of her dash.

Back on the porch with beverages of choice in our hands. We discussed her future. Its all good!

The car drives just like the day we brought her home. No squeaks or rattles. She is every bit as comfortable as the day we bought her. She wants to be a sports sedan. And lord will she try. But its not really there with the I4 and AT combo. And she cant be a lux boat. Because,,, well she wasn't born a EXL. But she likes her metal look dash trim. Makes her feel better about her self.

The wife told me Ruby has been upset since the Civic took a drive and never came back home. Instead a smart ass Mazda came back. :) That one way drive scared her. ( the wife ) :D

So with a hug and kiss I reassured the wife Ruby wasn't in danger of a one way trip. Patted Ruby's ass and ran my hand gently along her upper belt line. The whole time letting her know I have everything to do her next maint. Fresh oil and filter. Some fresh tranny fluid and filter. A new fuel filter. Lube for her hinges and sunroof. A fresh can of scotchguard for her upholstery and carpets. Fresh power steering fluid and coolant. And the loving touch and labor needed to see her make her way twords the 250k mile goal we expect her to meet.

With a big grin. The wife backed her Ruby in off the corner of the front porch. A place where all would see the nice car she loves so much. Back on the porch the wife mentioned. All will see my pretty Ruby as they drive down the street.

A new fuel filter on a car with only 50K miles? Ok...
