I already have seen, heard, met, or know over 6 people, who thought the 5-Series was the New Accord.

A car that's been out so long is finally going to get highly recognized by the American public... as a Honda Accord:lmao: .

It just gets better and better everyday I tell ya...:yes:

I can't wait for the next Sonata. Then people will think the BMW is a Hyundai because Hyundai copied Honda (assuming they do).:lmao:

Unfortunately everyone needs more and more fuel economic vehicles.. So eventually they are certain to end up looking alike.. :dunno:

In the not-so-distant future I think the only way to be sure what make a car is. will be to look at its badge!! :(

They look alike because Honda knocked off the BMW, not because of any fuel efficiency imperative. (Though I also see shades of the Jag X-Type in the greenhouse and swage.) Toyota also knocked off BMW for the Camry, but they did the 7 rather than the 5.

The interior also resembles that of the 5.

From good morning vietnam "please do not describe your lost duffel bag as "all duffels look alike"

Its kinda getting the same way with cars. At least if someone rebadges this gen as a BMW, it may take more descriminating eyes to call him out.

Don't worry, the people that know cars don't confuse the BMW for an Accord. And there is no comparison, just like you can't compare the price.

Agreed. The accord is so much better. No one would call it a BMW.

I just bought an 08 EX-L and didn't see the similarity until my neighbors came over asking if it was a BMW? I still don't think them very similar but I can see it somewhat, at any rate I'll take it as a compliment.

Nice color there, 08exl.

Did they miss that enormous H on the front of it? I think it would take 4 of my front H's to make a Honda logo that big!

Bigger is better mentality at it's best.

Accordlover knows that I have the best combination of German prestige (BMW) and Japanese reliability.

Never take life seriously. No one gets out alive anyway. :D

I think Honda is realizing that the big H is valuable symbol, similar to the MB three point star.

I honestly didn't notice how big the emblem was until you said something. I guess it looks somewhat proportionate on the car as it really didn't stick out. But I am not a previous honda owner so maybe I'm just not as used to it as some.

I dont care if the Accord looks like a 5 series..

All i have to say is that nothing compares to the feeling of a Twin-Turbo Inline 6...

She still loves it 5 months and 8k miles later!

Her windows are 5% and the girls at her work tell her that she looks like a drug dealer. :)

Nice. Most people only notice large differences between cars, hence the frequent charge that "they all look alike."

On the Big H, that's the fashion these days, huge emblems and huge grilles. Honda seems to have decided against a big grille for now--but I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the next freshening. Just a new front fascia away.

Here's the new Hyundai coming. 380hp 4.6 V8

With the introduction of the new V8 powered RWD Genesis sedan, Hyundai will finally have a car that could rival the low-cost but powerful saloons that seem to remain the domain of the US carmakers. To give its new ‘Tau’ V8 a fighting chance, Hyundai is rumored to be setting the 4.6L engine’s output at 380hp (283kW).
According to a recent post on the HyundaiExchange forums, Hyundai’s R&D Chief Hyun-Soon Lee revealed to company officials that the V8 engine would output the 380hp figure in its new RWD sedan, which is due for release towards the end of the year.
In addition to the new V8, Hyundai will eventually offer a new diesel mill as well as a possible hydrogen fuel-cell powerplant. Researchers at Hyundai are currently developing the new powertrains, however, the carmaker’s boss Dong Jin Kim recently revealed that non-petrol models won’t be exported to key markets such as the US until 2010 at the earliest.

What's the emblem on the steering wheel? Entire interior looks dated and downscale, despite what might be yards real wood.

That Hyundai reminds me more of a Buick, both interior and exterior.

I agree. I like the lines and the rims, but the rest is all wrong IMO. Not a bad looking car, just seems a little dated. How about that drivetrain though? Wow

The current 5 series is a home run design wise. If I owned one I would just stare at it night and day in my garage. Make mine white btw.

The Tibby is getting that drivetrain too. Should work good.

Interesting little tidbit. Recently the president of Toyota was asked if he was concerned with the gains made by GM and Honda, he replied it's Hyundai we need to worry about.

"Codenamed BK, but often referred to as the "Hyundai Mustang" by Hyundai insiders, the rear-wheel-drive coupe shown here will eventually replace the front-wheel-drive Tiburon.
We're not sure if Hyundai will carry over the Tiburon name, but we do know that this car will first arrive in Asia in late 2008 or 2009, and arrive here in the States for the 2010 model year. A convertible version will follow.
Based on the BH/Genesis platform, the new coupe is expected to offer an optional 4.6-liter V-8 as a performance option."

Mom and i agreed whenever it came time to get her car.. White is the best color for the 5..

I wanted black leather, and she wanted the new for 08 light beige.. So thats what we got..

It shows EVERYTHING though.

This has been going on for years. Look at the front end of a 1994 Toyota Tercel, and tell me that doesn't have a hint of the BMW 3 series of that era.

Yet, oddly, no one ever walked up to a Tercel owner and asked them about their "new BMW" :)

To see how much BMW's design is copied, count the number of cars with kinked C-pillars.
