Firstly, congrats on the new Accord.

I had to vote not a fan because of a number of reasons. The main reason I don't like the new Accord is because of the rear. It really kills the look right away. The lines of the car are also not cohesive...

I voted not a fan because of the high dash and cowl, makes for a less sporty feel for the driver.

That being said I do LOVE the motors in the 08s.

Thanks for the feedback! I have noticed that owners of previous generation accords tend not to like the new one. I didn't like any of the previous models...maybe it's a redesign more dramatic than most that attracts a different demographic of buyers? We all have our own unique tastes, no one better than the other, just an observation.

Somewhat, it seems to be a trend nowadays, to have larger visual effect, coffin-style rear, huge frontal presence, and that dual dash with the navi display. I think everybody is moving towards that style.

Coffin-style rear? What? I'm guessin that's suppossed to be a bad thing. I think the car is hott and all the old accord owners are jealous cause their cars are really ugly. I'm going to buy an 08' too, but I'm gonna get the v6 wit the duals and fogs.

Yeah, sorry. I meant 08 accord. My last vehicle was an 06 vue, guess I've still got it on my mind

from wiki:

Four-cylinder VUEs use the Ecotec I4. The L81 V6 from the L-Series and 5-speed Aisin AF33 automatic transmission were initially offered, but starting in 2004, all 6-cylinder VUEs were equipped with the 250 hp (186 kW) Honda-manufactured L66 engine and a Honda transmission. The four-cylinder VUE was available with the VTi continuously-variable transmission (CVT) until GM canceled it for 2005.

Thats kindof odd, I always felt like the high dash and doors on my Coupe is what gave it that sporty feeling when you drive.. Almost "riding dirty"-- Like driving a Camaro or Trans am.. You gotta lean back in those to appreciate them LOL.

I love the new rear end.. Not so much the front without fogs.. But i think your car and color are absolutely great!

I definitely <3 the rear on the 8th gen coupes from pictures..
Our honda store (the company i work for) gets our first coupe on friday.. So i might seriously think about leasing a white/ivory one in the next couple of months.. Of course an EXv6-- (Like i would do any different LOL)

My only real gripe about the 8th gen at all, from what i can tell- I dont like the absence of the electronic guages... Or do they have them.. I just walked around a EX-L that we got in the first day the 8th gens came out.. And it had regular guages..

Have to say, that was my only real dissapointment.. It was my favorite part of my coupe..

Or hell, maybe i might just get a used 06-07 sedan/coupe...

Im going to test drive a really cheap 04 Mercedes C230 Sport today.. I have a feeling that im going to HATE the kompressor

That's right...It has the honda engine and tranny with 250 hp, half the reason I bought it. The new vues do not have the honda engine or tranny though, 07' was the last year. The v6 vue is an awesome SUV IMO and is actually still staying in the family. I highly recommend an 06-07 to anyone looking for an suv that has great power, price, and of course honda reliability.

Jwes, we have an 03 c320 with the v6, actually selling it now that I bought the accord, it's green with tan leather and fully loaded if you're interested.

Thanks, me too...It's called mystic green and I loved the exterior color from the minute I saw it.

It was part of a deal that brough OnStar to the Acura RL. It was interesting news, because GM had no less than 10 V6 engines at the time, but sourced a V6 from Honda for their Saturn SUV.

Saying that the Accord 08' is "large sedan" is a misnomer. With a moonroof the Sedan is still considered "Mid-sized." Only the LX is considered "large" and this is only due to interior volume. Have you sat in the new one or looked at it in person? It seems no bigger than the 03-07's. I was also angry that honda had made it bigger but it is far from an Avalon/Maxima size.

It definately seems bigger then the 03-07's. It is not overwhelming, but from the moment you sit in it, you feel like you are in a larger car, especially with respect to the width.

I was also angry that honda had made it bigger but it is far from an Avalon/Maxima size.
I agree it is far from the Avalon, which is a true "large car". But, I doubt that a Maxima is much bigger, if at all, than an '08 Accord.

Isn't the difference between an 07' and 08' something like 3'' in length and an inch in width? I remember it's some small number like that. Is that really enough of a difference to turn you off from the 08 if owned an 07 already? It seems miniscule to me, if the 08' is large with such a small difference, then the 07' was very close to being classified large too.

No it's just me actually. I think the 7th gen is *slightly* bigger than what I really want to drive. So an even bigger accord is out of question.

I can see the 08 being the true family sedan without having to be BIG, no doubt about that

I am a 7th gen owner, and I have to say that I am not jealous. In a couple of years, when Honda gets further into the 8th gen and works out some kinks, then I will be jealous.

I admit, at first I did not like the styling from the pictures that I saw. But then I went to the dealer and saw it in person. I think it is beautiful! The thing I didn't like about the 08 was the feel of driving it. It felt sluggish to me because of the extra weight it carries. I don't like how tall the dash is either. But everything else is a step forward, in my book. Braking with four disc brakes feels amazing compared to my 07 LX! :naughty:

What is the weight difference between the 07 and 08? The engine now puts out 190hp, that's more than last year right? Just wondering if the weight difference is possibly compensated for by more hp.

stevencrosbie

hp doesn't compensate for weight...torque does...which is pratically unchaged....thus...not as fast.

[QUOTE=stevencrosbie;170866]hp doesn't compensate for weight...torque does...which is pratically unchaged....thus...not as fast.[/QUOTE

Hmmm.....Last year had 166hp, this year it has 190, last year had 160lbs of torque, this year 162, granted that's only 2 more lbs of torque, but 24hp....Sizeable jump there. The added hp will make some difference as to how fast the car is, it can't be solely based on torque. Also the weight difference isn't that dramatic... we're talking 3250lbs on the 07'exl versus 3,433lbs on my 08 exl. That's a whole whopping 183lbs difference, maybe there is a bigger difference on some of the other models but 183 lbs is hardly even notable. It's 5.6% weight increase,18.75% increase in hp, and 1.25% increase in torque.

Here are the sited I got my info from in case you're wondering

Here are a couple shifter pics for ya', as requested. The shifter really is one of the most bland things in the interior. Anyways, hope the pics help...(also added a few more interior pics that are clearer than the originals)

I never owned an accord before, but I did think it a bit odd that the cd player is just integrated into all the whole dash, with all the other controls on top. I looks good that way though and I like the stock setup, it's a 270watt system with a 6disc changer. I'm not big on "systems" in cars so the stock one is more than sufficient for me, I bet it is expensive to replace the unit if it goes out though, hopefully that won't happen. It had crossed my mind before biut now you have me worried:paranoid:

The 7th Gen (like the one you own) is also unable to fit an aftermarket. But you can get a kit for a 'cubby' mounted one (where the storage is for the center console), and simply disable the radio. The downside is your stereo is really low.

For non EXL+ owners, there's a cheapo looking kit by Metra, that allows you to keep your HVAC controls and install a H/U right where the old one was. These stereos sound awesome with just upgraded speakers. My car still has OEM speakers, and they're the best $10 car speakers I've ever had (honda's price):lmao:. I've upgraded my headunit, but for now, the stock sound setup is ok.

Honda sound system's are rather bassy don't ya think?

Your Accord looks great! I really like the looks of the dark interior. I've never been a fan of fake wood (or even real wood) in cars and it seems if you go with the ivory color interior, your stuck with the fake wood.

As I said in another thread, I only test drove a 4 cyl EX-L Navi, but I'd really like to try the 6 cyl. How do you like the seats? For me, that won me over more than anything. How's the interior at night? The Camry's night lights steered me away. Too bright!

If I go with an Accord, it'll be either a 4 or 6 cyl EX-L Navi. Silver or Mystic Green. I would like to see a pic of one with the small spoiler. I don't think I'd like the full wing spoiler like my Maxima has.
