I'm currently planning to install a 12" and 2 10" subs in my 04
I was curious as to whether i would need to install an aftermarket stereo display if i was planning on installing them.
and if i can, any input on the type of sub's would be nice. I was thinking making the 10's alpine type r's and i was hoping to get a less expensive 12".

my God are you wanting to rattle your car apart? I must be getting old :) I had a '01 Mustang G.T.convertible with just 1 10" Infinity Sub and a Rockford Fosgate Amp with built in crossover and I kept the rest all factory (which was pretty comparable to the Accord's system). It sounded great and had plenty of bass! Now if you're just wanting to get attention - go with the (3) SUBS ;) You will need to upgrade all the factory speaker and amps because (3) subs will overwhelm the factory setup.

well i already replaced the rear speakers, I truely only wanted 2 10's, but my friend is getting me free installation so i thought might as well take advantage of it.
A question im not quite sure of the answer of is whether or not i need to upgrade my h/u, and if not if i need to get any extra parts for the installation. My friend hasn't worked on a honda before so im trying to do the research for him.

I haven't modified my Accord, but when I did the Mustang upgrade, I just got a low line level convertor (I believe that's what its called) and tapped into my rear speakers, this gave me the "RCA" connections to the amp, so it was a really clean install and I kept everything looking factory (except for the sub and enclosure tucked away in the trunk). Does your A/C controls not shop up on the factory radio display? And what about XM? I would try to keep your factory radio and believe me, one good QUALITY sub and amp is more than enough...... When it comes to car audio you get what you pay for!

from what you said i think the part you got for your mustang is what i'll be looking for.
I didn't plan on changing the whole set up in the front, i've grown rather fond of it over the past month i've owned this car (just turned 16 got it for my birthday) and when u say u get what you pay for, i plan on paying for whatever is considered the best. From word of mouth, i've heard really good things about alpine. I was thinking about the type r's, but im still looking around.

Welcome to the club, i'm in the process of doing this, but currently my line output converter is taking signal right from the rear speakers, and experiencing alot of clipping (distortion) in the signal. RCA Outputs would be too much to ask of Honda I guess :( or any car manufacturer for that matter

I have a 8" bazooka.. used to have 2 12's but that was too much.. Never changed factory radio display nor the door speakers. I did change the backseat speakers to Infinitys though. Sounds very clear and good. Not competition but has deep and clear bass. I dont' max out the radio though. Perhaps if i get an '08 i WILL max it a FEW times. :)
As far as the radio though, you probably won't even have to touch the factory radio when you put in the speakers. :D

when u added the speakers did you have to buy any adaptors? or did you just wire it through the back speakers?

If i can make a suggestion, i would probably not go with different size subs, they are so much different in frequency output, this can sound really bad, this setup is usually followed by disappointment. I have done a lot of installations and i know that most people can't tune a system to get them to sound right together, and if they are tuned together you aren't getting the full range out of them. Pointless in most applications, just thought i would try to help out, not a bash or anything, just my opinion, and experience.

this is very true... 99% sure you will not be happy. what was your initial reasoning behind getting subs of different sizes?

i wasn't planning on getting these subs, but as i stated before im getting them for a deal i couldnt pass up from a family friend.

sounds good, you should enjoy them, and be careful with that amp, very powerful, make sure it is somewhere it can breathe, but is really good equipment. any questions with installations let me know.
