I was taking a look at the floor mats on my sister’s 08 Accord and couldn’t help but notice that Honda is no longer using the plastic/rubber on underside of the mats. To me while it still has a sticky surface, I have to assume that during the snow months, water will penetrate past the fabric material. Is this a change to force users to get the all seasoned mats?

Link to a quality product if you are in a Snow zone and deal with slush. I've used their product in past vehicles, and I hope they come on board for a custom fit for the 08 Accord.

My mats do have rubber on the bottom, but the rubber has holes in it. I don't know why the rubber has holes in it but I can see the concern of liquids seeping through the mats and into the carpet. That said, I bought the oem all season mats, I'm sure they would be especially helpful in areas woth lots of snow etc. I haven't received mine yet but here is a pic of what they look like...

I'm not sure if the back of yours looks like mine, but here is a picture. I must assume that they don’t change per region. In my previous Accords the back of the mat was black and was thick rubber, this is very flimsy.

Maybe it is fake?
It shouldn't look like that, even my FACTORY mats have the rubber spokes under them. :dunno:

Yeah that was what I have been used to for as long as I can remember, but I think they changed them over this year since they are now standard on the Accord...another cost cutting measure I guess.

That doesn't look anything like mine at all, very weird:dunno: I'll snap a pic and post it soon. I think you got jipped on those mats:dunno:

Hmmm…now I wonder… I may have to head over to the parts department and see what they look like. I know that my sister’s car was made in Japan so I’m wondering if it’s just different because of where it was manufactured. It may not be worth it at this point because they still have holes where the water can leak. In all of the previous Hondas I have owned, they have a solid rubber backing so nothing could leak through it.

It does still have the little grips though and it certainly appears to be of higher quality than the one in your pic. I'd try to swap em' out at the dealer.
But if you have plans of installing aftermarket mats, I guess it doesn't really matter. What trim is your sister's accord? Maybe it has something to do with that, better mats for the higher trim models?:dunno:

Just for fun I took a peak at mine, (my 08 is 8 days old) - take a look:

Maybe Honda has several vendors, if nothing else I'd pay a return visit to the dealer and check out some new cars on the lot, if yours is the only "odd" set I'd try and work a swap if they bother you.

I'm buying the Honda all weather floor mats so it really doesn't make much difference to me.

Good luck

Both of our cars are EX-Ls, wonder if that has anything to do with it? Yours definitely looks exactly like mine.
BTW, is it 8 days old or did you pick it up 8 days ago? LOL, JK. Congrats on your new accord

I picked it up "8 days ago" on Sept 29th but it was delivered to the dealer on Sept 27th. I bought it on Sept 28th and took delivery on the 29th. On the 28th when I bought it it still had all the shipping protector material on the car. The dealer wasn't able to get the car prepped for a same day delivery which is the reason I picked it up last Sat the 29th.

I did the NCM delivery on our vette at Bowling Green which was one of the most memorable experiences in our lives.

My sister's is an EX...not sure but I would assume that they should be the same quality as the EX-L

Hmmm, I don't know:dunno: I do know that the ex-l has a few things beyond leather that the ex doesn't have. Things like the 270 watt sound system with the 6 disc changer (ex is 160 watt), XM satellite radio,multi-reflector halogen headlights with auto-on/off (ex has auto off), heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and exterior temperature indicator. Correct me if I'm wrong but the ex doesn't have any of that does it? The difference between an ex and ex-l is more than just leather. With that said, I'd bet that the ex-l gets different floor mats than the ex.:dunno:

BTW, beautiful corvette Tom. I love the new body style and there really are no other sports cars that compare to the corvette for the money IMO.

That could be the case. Can anyone else with an EX confirm what the floor mats look like on the back?

I called on a set of all season matts yesterday. The Coupes are so new (they said) that the matts are not due in for a few weeks.

$146 installed.:jawdrop:

Installed???

Yup, they have to CUT holes in carpet and ATTACH the hooks to the floorboard that fit through the holes in the all season matts to keep them from slipping around.

Eeeeesh!

I think they are worth it:dunno: Depends on the conditions where you are I guess, they work fine for me and they look very good:thmsup: As for the cutting holes etc., maybe that's a coupe or a trim level thing? I know my mats just fit right in, the little plastic clips were already in the car.
