Great install! That's a nifty place to have a navi unit for non-navi Accords.

Looks good! I have the same GPS in my accord. I didn't mount it though, it just sits in the console until I need it. Great Install!

Do you expect any heating issues from mounting the navi in the spot? I like your setup a lot.
I suppose this very install is the reason i dropped the dime on the factory unit. I can't see this placement as beneficial while driving. I can only see it as harboring your ability to maintain focus on the road ahead. Looks like a very nice piece of equipment, but (enjoy this one) I agree with 08EXL's choice to keep it detached so that you'll be less motivated to attempt to use it in a stationary location while operating your motor vehicle.

OMG! Thoroughly enjoying!:) I can't believe you agree with me on something:salue: But I don't think it very safe to use any gps while driving, factory or not. Although the factory one is higher and allows you to keep an eye on the road to some degree. I think the install looks relatively clean though:thmsup: How well can you see the screen down there while driving saman? that would be my biggest concern, I guess you don't have to see it too well as long as you can hear it.

its a good place to store it, but when you're trying to read it while driving.. its hard to read because its in a low spot.

I have my Nuvi 350 mounted in the same spot. Yeah its not as "ideal" as the placement of the factory navi, but arguably its not that bad. Most of the time I only look down at it either at a stoplight or if it prompts me for a turn or something and I didn't catch the instruction...so its not as bad as some people might think.
Arguably the only problem I have had with it there is I can't leave the unit mounted on a hot day, as the heat pulls the "permanent mounting pad" off the back of the cubby...so I just take the unit off the mount, put it in its case, and put that separately in the cubby as well.
One thing to think of if you plan on removing trim in your car is to hide the power adapter. I have my USA-Spec routed into the cubby so when I have time, I'm pulling the trim off again and routing power so it will come from inside the armrest, under the cupholders and gearshift trim, and up into the back of the cubby.

New here...my first post...
I'm planning on getting an aftermarket nav for my Accord and was thinking about putting it down there. I decided against it because of having to look down while driving. Besides, I have a MT and the shifter would get in the way of viewing the screen.
I have decided to go with the Garmin Nuvi 350 also, but will do a custom fiberglass job above the center vents to mount the nav higher. I'm looking at mid to late November when I start and finish the job. I will post pics when it's done. :D

I just mounted my unit in one of the center cup-holders I never use. I have an MT so didn't put it in the cubby. Reception is fine, closer to your ears, and you don't have to reach forward to click it. Arms resting on the center console it's within easy reach. Although of course don't play with it while driving, unless you're in a traffic jam and want it to recalculate another route avoiding the jam and that's a one click operation anyway.

I have my Garmin C series mounted there, and, like Conundrum, I rely on the text to speech prompts to tell me when to turn. I bought a permanent mount and mounted it to a slim profile CD case, which I just slid into the bottom of the cubby. It's a totally clean install, and the GPS has never fallen off the mount, ever! Amazingly, it picks up a great signal even without an external antenna.

I have a MT too, but really it doesn't get in the way (even in 3rd and 5th when you think it would). In terms of signal, the newer Garmin's are pretty good...I normally get around 5 metre accuracy in there without any external antenna (and there's a lot of metal above it considering the HVAC/headunit and all).

5m isn't too bad for the amount of stuff above it in the cubby mount. I get close to around 1 foot accuracy (0.3m), with the rake we have in our windshield it helps a lot so I didn't bother with an external antenna either.

well to be honest with you i never look at the screen because this brand of nuvi actually reads the street names to you so you could simply look at the street sign your going to turn to....i only look when i really have to.

Nice.
I am gonna do a cool mount in the Tundra...but I am still researching a good GPS computer. The Nuvi 660 is nice..but I don't want/need all of the features. I just want a good, updatedable, and fast GPS....and no other features.....
Nice though.
