my mom bought a 97 honda accord coupe from our family mechanic last saturday. both me and her test drove it beforehand, and both agreed that she should buy it ASAP!!!

it's in mint condition. the guy that owned it previously was OCD when it came to maintenance...

here are the pics... pls wait til i am done....

You need to find one like that Stiller.

the search is on, for sure....

i talked to the guy who sold the car to my mom yesterday, when the TL was in for service..... he said that these cars in this kind of condition come buy once in a blue moon. they normally shy away from them, only because they are usually in fair, if not worse condition with repairs needed.

the owner would lose money if he were to buy it and fix it to re-sell it.

Nice car indeed! But I don't know if it's my eyes or the pictures, but I notice in the 2nd and 3rd picture that the door color looks slightly different from the rear. You can see this abnormality in color on the first picture too from straight on, though very hard to tell.

yeah, i noticed that too when i was looking at the car as well....

not sure why it's like that either.... :dunno:

I have the same thing with my AS bumper. It's a different color from the body of the car.

I noticed the same thing - and we had that happen to an older Integra after they had to repaint a couple of panels due to a parking lot "escapade" :D
Bottom line is that some body attention was given at some point, and you're seeing either a less faded color than the main paint, or a difference in the metal flaking - both can cause this effect. If the body work was done right, you won't have any issues. Otherwise, just keep an eye out for any signs of bubbling over time. But for the age of the vehicle, I wouldn't worry at all - the most important parts seem to have been certainly obsessed about!

I feel better. That 5th gen has needed more repairs non-mait related than mine according to that manual! :lmao:

It has the fogs I want! And it has the nice Honda Tape/CD that mine had until someone decided it was worth smashing a window for. :(

I like the nose mask as well. :) It has the ACCORD on it, whereas mine is aftermarket, and doesn't. I see that one also has the trunk mat like mine. Another rare thing!

I hope this one gets good care. Tell me the car had all the belts and seals done? We're at similar miles.

Congrats to your mom! - Lets see the TL!

The fender on the drivers side looks to be missing the VIN tag. Maybe that has something to do with the mis match drivers door...

The driver's side corner of the back bumper has been repainted, too... it's the same color as the driver's door and front fender. :paranoid:

Excellent observation...

Did Maaco get a hold of that car or something! At least the vin tag is still on the door pillar, which means it was minor. The trunk is slightly crooked on the right...

Josh I hope this car works out well man...:dunno: Looks to be in good mechanical sorts to say the least. Though there is a lot of oil under that hood it looks like? Leak at one point maybe...?

tyler,

i told ya that the guy was OCD with maintenance... i really don't think that ALL OF THOSE THINGS really needed replaced. according to what i heard (the guy talking via terry), he replaced stuff for the sake of replacing it....

Looks great overall! It seems the hood is not flush with the front fenders or the gap between them. Maybe the picture is just distorted.

That's a great looking car for sure. A 5th gen in that good of shape would be a great daily driver.

looks to be in good condition for the age! (well, sans the mismatched paints, but atleast it doesn't appear to be all rusty!)

The 5th Gen Accord is definitely withstanding the test of time style-wise. It still looks good to this day. I really like how the hood line is low resulting in high windshield visibility. Question: Is the chrome grille a difference in trim levels or a mid generation change?

Oy. A simple question is about to get complicated O_o.

1994-1995 4cyl Models had the non-chrome grill.

1995-1997 V6 Models had the chrome grill.

1996-1997 4cyl Models had the chrome grill along with the V6 and got a new front bumper and a redone rear end.

Are you sure the mechanic didn't write those services on the service manual? hehe
