nice gangster drivers seat position there josh. lol

Just pull that 3 off and take some alcohol to it. Get rid of all that adhesive and wax over it. 10 minutes at most.

The rust spot needs some touch up immediately! Eeek. You might even want to put some filler on that spot. To keep water out of the trunk anyways. :dunno:

Overall, it looks good for 240k miles! I think a new transmission in it would be a good idea, and I would not be surprised to see it take you another 240k! :)

Don't give up Josh!

recent repairs:

- new starter
- set of used rear tires
- tranny fluid change

i call it the popemobile for a reason. it turns out, a bullet that somewhere was shot straight up, hit the car. i can't remember the caliber tho, but since then, it has had the "holy" distinction..... :lmao:

Holy moly!

I think you should take advantage of that driveway and do a little TLC'ing!

The car has much potential!

I guess your more torso than legs!

I'm 6'3 (still growing, rawr) and I fit rather cozily in my 5th gen. Seat all the way back, with the seat 3 positions back from the very first. I'm a little tall person though! I weigh in at a light almost 140lbs.

yeah, big torso, big legs.....

the only thing about my car (93) versus the other two: i had knee room....

my mom's car, i struggle with. the TL, it takes me a while to get into a comfortable position seating wise.

Like every bose headunit of the 80's and 90's suffered some issue over time. The most common thing was crackling and popping through the speakers. I thought the TSX still had Bose...

Nice car, nice bullet hole, lol. I can't believe your car got shot. It could definately use a nice detail and a couple repairs and it would be a really nice looking ride. Debadge it completely though, or fix the badging and it would look a lot better imo.

I think it looks fine with just ACURA.

well, i have to agree, in this case, finish off the "debadging". :lmao: one piece left and the ghosts of the others is worse than no badges. but i'm guessing some like that ghost look too, so don't take offense to it if you are one of them. :lmao:

complete with a bullet hole. NOW i know what your accord was missing!!! :notworthy

I think you said your trans is on its last leg..what is it doing or not doing?

hmmm.... let's see here.

- clunking and taking too long to go into drive or reverse

- flaring in all forward gears

- 1st-2nd very bad. usually start in 2nd to take the banging/slamming out of the equation

- 2nd-3rd pretty nice, if i'm shifting it myself. otherwise, flaring there too

- 3rd to 4th very delayed. sometimes upwards of 3-4 secs after i tell it to shift in manual mode. during that time, i'm either coasting or losing speed

i think that's it.... :stupid:

Are you going to fix that bullet hole? A quick cheap fix would be to take a 1/3rd of a bumper sticker and put it over the hole.. just to keep the water and possibly mold out of the trunk.

Paint the sticker with touch up paint so it will look better :lmao:

OR Just put a little bondo there. It's pretty simple stuff to use.

i will.....

once i get a new battery installed....

the car died last night. tried to go out to eat real quick, and nothing.... this mrng, tried to start again, 2 revolutions, then clicking once again....

i hate this car..... the starter was just replaced 2 weeks ago. the battery is only 3 yrs old.... :furious:

3yrs is not a bad lifetime for a battery.

Walmart has them warrantied free replacement for 3 years....

the tranny in the TL is now dead.... mom was going to her second job, and it quit on her..... :wavebye:

IIRC, a new tranny is about $3500....

not sure for reman'ed or used tho.....

the only reason she took the TL to work cause there was wintry precip forecasted (snow / sleet) and feels more comfortable in that car versus the 97....

A rebuild at an independent shop only runs $2500 or so, parts and labor.

240k is REALLY good for that transmission though.

my new car is running great.... i stopped at walmart to pick up a heavier weight oil (10w30) and added a quart before driving to GA the other day. it has only used a half quart since then, and about 95% of my driving has been highway.....

ps: have driven about 1300 miles since then.... averaging around 70-85mph the whole time....

i'll take some pics of my white coupe, and post them up if i can.... have had trouble connecting to the internet at my friend's house.... :(

You know, I was looking at the pictures thinking the car needed to be vacuumed and cleaned, then I saw the mileage. Really, the car doesn't look bad at all for the miles it has on it. I agree with others, about finishing the debadging, and maybe dealing with the bullet hole, but hey it does add character.

RTexasF

Since the tranny has let loose I don't think cleaning and debadging are a high priority.

exactly my point.....

my mom has sole ownership of the car now, so i'm not really worried about it to be honest....
