There's a similar thread comparing the 7th gen coupe to the altima one on here, so when I parked next to a new altima in a parking lot I snapped a couple pics. Here are a couple of those pics to compare an 08 sedan with a new altima sedan. Neither car is the loaded model, mine is the ex-l 4cylinder and the altima is the 2.5s trim. The 2.5 s with the sl package would be the best comparison but aside from the rims and sunroof they look the same, making for a relatively fair comparison if you ask me:dunno: I test drove an altima while shopping, I like the style inside and out but the engine (4cylinder) was weak and felt very strained just to pull the weight of the car even though it only has 15 less hp than the accord and it's lighter? The car seemed very noisy which may have added to the strained feel. But there were a couple pros like the intellignet key feature and dual exhaust (even on the 4 cylinder). Anyways, check out the pics.

Hey cool pics! Exterior-wise, here is the breakdown for me:

-I like the Altima way better from almost every angle except for maybe the front, where I think the Accord looks great.
-Side = pretty close, but for me, again, Altima. I think the line on the side of the Accord really throws the whole thing off. Which also effects:
-I like the Altima's rear WAY better than the Accord's and it looks too flat and boring, and the line makes it look off to me. Like almost every single generation of Accords, I think the rear's design is by far its weakest feature.

But as always, to each their own! :)

The Altima (sedan) is kinda growing on me the more I see it on the streets.

 for the Altima's dual exhaust
 for the Altima's rear end (compared to the Accord's at least)

 for the Accord's wheels
 for the Accord's front end
 for the Accord's nicer looking side profile

The Altima looks dated to me just because it looks so much like a Maxima.

Overall, I prefer Honda, but the back is better on Nissan vs 8th gen (prefer 7th gen back to nissan).

I am a fan of the dual exhaust in general and like the look, but the altima exhaust pipes look cheap, as do the bumper cutouts IMO. I think it's a close match in the rear of the 4 cylinders simply because of the exhaust. But I think the 08 with dual exhaust looks better than the altima.

I agree that it looks a little dated and a lot like the maxima but that's not a bad thing alone. I like the maximas too:thmsup:

Eh, I don't think so but no one has more reason to be biased about that than me LOL

It's hard to beat the looks of the new altima. I think it looks a lot better than the new accord, and old accord. I'm not such a fan of the coupe because it was obviously an afterthought, but the sedan is very nice looking. The lines all have the right shape and if quality and reliability didn't matter I would buy the Altima before I bought an accord. However, most people know that nissan is now pretty much junk in terms of build quality and reliability.

I still think the Altima is a hoochie mama car. Why? Long story.

The Accord is for those of us with a little Class IMHO.

That. Is a very nice Accord looks wise.

I like the Accord better from EVERY angle. It looks more mature + clean cut. The Altima looks like it's a revamped Maxima and looks all loose and unclean.

Hmm, I'm an accord owner but I like the Altima better. The front is nicer on the Accord but other than that, I prefer the Altima over the new Accord. Just my preference though.

Nissans scream cheap, (IMO) especially the Altima which looks like a dated maxima. The rear of the new altima is Hideous:thumbsdow with all the stupid colors showing like puzzle pieces. The front looks like a fat elephant with no character whatsoever. The Accord IMO looks classy and the rear looks really clean. The side profile is better on the accord and so is the front which looks very very sporty and clean when compared to the dated looking fat altima. Again this is my opinion, I know there are people that think the opposit of what I think.

I actually think the 2007+ Altima Sedan looks a lot better than the Maxima. The Maxima is a decently styled car but it is not refined. The Altima's shape and character elements come together smoothly. It looks even better than the Altima Coupe, which I think has some pretty wacked up proportions.

I gotta say the 08 Accord's front end (especially the coupe's) is a home run. That is to be expected, as they got some of the best headlight designs in the industry. They look like eagle eyes, classy and aggressive. The Altima's headlights, on the other hand, are too derivative of the Maxima and 350z. Plus, they don't convey any emotion. You don't see the meanness in it like the Accords'.

From the side profile angle, the Altima is the clear winner. In fact, I think this is the Altima's sexiest and most favorable view. The roofline curves nicely from hood to trunk, giving it a very integrated an cohesive look. The Accord's side view is IMO its least favorable, as you can really notice the length of the hood and how the grille is almost just vertical. The roof line isn't as streamlined as the Altima's either.

Rear view: The Accord edges the Altima slightly. I actually like the Accord sedan's rear more than the Coupe's. It has a tastefully elegant and sporty configuration. The little hump at the top is great (ala Mazda Millenia's). Where the Accord's rear utilizes subtlety and elegance, the Altima's boasts modern boldness and excitement. At times, it's just too "in your face".

3/4 view: Accord, hands-down. It's the car's sexiest angle. Everything comes in play here: the aggressive and mean headlights with its 3-Dness, the high rising belt line, the swooping character line, and the bottom side curve (which is most visible in this view). In this view, the Altima doesn't really jump into excitement the way the Accord does.

I would have to say that the Accord Sedan's overall subtle sportiness and classiness take the win.

I've always preferred Honda's clean, classic lines over Nissan's "look at me" styling. The last Nissan I liked was the '00-'03 Maximas. Since then, I haven't liked the styling direction they've gone. I also think the current Nissans are crap in terms of build quality and they apparently aren't much better in reliability, either.

not a fan of the altima's rear. it looks too "bubbly" and cheap. i don't really like the accord sedan butt either, but it's not really a love/hate, it's more of an indifference. the altima's rear just looks bad inmho.

I like the Accord from every angle (especially profile), except for the back end and the wheels. The back looks very stale and boring, and the oval shaped exhaust looks kind of cheap. The rims also look very awkward and don't match the rest of the luxury theme. The black Accord posted above is the perfect example of what the Accord should have looked like right out of the factory, maybe with silver instead of chrome wheels.

I don't like the spoiler on the black one, I think the only spoiler that looks good on an accord sedan is the lip style one. I'm also not a big fan of the chrome rims or the chrome on the door hadles. BTW, the v6 model does have dual exhaust but they are both oval just like the single on on the i4. I think this is more along the lines of what the accord ahould have looked like..minus the extra chrome on the grill

Wow, that model looks SO MUCH better! Those look like the 18" coupe wheels now, but they look damn good on the sedan. Plus, I kind of like the awkward styling of the tail lights for some reason. It borrows styling cues from the 2003 sedan. The whole car basically screams BMW-esque luxury. Maybe we can see some positive changes to come...

You know, to me those inspire pics make the accord look like a bmw 7 series wannabe or a lincoln of some sort. Very boring looking to me, looks like an old-man car (at least those pics make it look that way). I would rather see it with a wing spoiler to differentiate it a little bit more and make it look less bland.

I thought the same thing, are they trying to make it look like a Town Car??? :lmao:

I like the 8th gen Accord sedan from all angles compared to the Altima even though the Accord's rear is just as ugly as the new generation Altima's.
