Well, since everyone's been chimming in with their thoughts and impression of the '08 Accord, here are mine.....

So I went to my dealer to get my 2nd free oil change done today. While I was there, I took a look at the '08 Accord sedans and I must say that it does look better in person than in those Honda press pics.

I didn't get a chance to drive one since they were washing/hosing down all the cars on the lot. I couldn't help keep thinking "ouch. swirls and micro marring" in my head. :D

Some quick thoughts/observations"

- of the 15 Accord sedans I saw out there, 8 were J vin (a couple LX-P's, about 4 EX's and about 2 EX-L's)
- it's as huge as it looked in those pics
- the interior feels very roomy.... would be perfect for a family of 5
- the rear end doesn't look as bad as in those pics, but IMO still doesn't flow as well as the rest of the car
- the steering wheel doesn't look too bad in person though the plastic parts still do cheapen it a bit
- I love the front end even more now. The white EX-L I was looking at reminded me of the Acura TL for some reason
- the front headlights stick out from the side A LOT when looking at them from certain angles
- the car feels more solid than the 7th Gen.
- I still don't care for the dash, but I can get used to it
- as I had imagined, all those control buttons in the center stack are too close and cluttered together.... needs to be simplified like with the 7th Gen's
- I LOVE..... LOVE..... the Accord EX-L V6 in the Alabastard Silver/Grey interior combination. To me, that color combo gives the Accord a luxury look....kinda like a Mercedes S class. If I was shopping for an Accord sedan right now (and had the $$$ :(), that's definitely what I'd go with.
- while sitting in the rear, I noticed how the roof was a bit lower than on the 7th Gen
- I like how the glove box opens slowly (springs?) unlike with the 7th Gen's which just falls down when you pull the latch
- I didn't like how the center arm rest storage area only had that removeable tray. I like the 7th Gen's two separate compartments.

They only had 2 coupes in stock (silver and red). They told me that the coupes were selling a lot better than the sedans.... and that they're only going to be getting around 12 during the first year. I found that hard to believe though. :dunno:

My dealer didn't have any markup on the '08's  but weren't going to budge too much from MSRP either. That's what I love about them. They don't really play games.

They had A LOT of 7th Gen's in stock. Looked like they were discounting them by at least $2000. Sales person said that they had even more in their warehouse and noted that they were still selling strongly.

There was 1 V6 6MT Accord coupe in Alabastard silver with a grey leather interior. Wanted those wheels bad. :(

That's all I can remember for now.

You should have the same thing on your SE. There is a strut on the right side of the glovebox that you have to disconnect to get to the cabin air filter. It may just be disconnected :dunno: If you are unsure look in your owners manual on replacing the cabin filter ... it will show you where the strut is. :D

I actually do not think that mine was ever connected untill I connected it about a month or two ago. It does keep the gloves box from just falling, probably much like the 08's.

Yes, I do. But I have a reason (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showpost.php?p=111738&postcount=9) for calling it Alabastard.

Hmm.... I'll have to check that out in the morning.

I was wondering if any V6 models were made in Japan or is it only the 4-cylinders ? I'm just curious since I have this "made in Japan" envy going on right now.

^ Yes. I actually saw an Alabastard Silver EX-L V6 with black interior that had a J vin. I was actually quite surprised by the number of J vin Accords they had.

When I bought mine, I don't think there was even one.

I'd imagine that there's going to be less and less J vin Accords available as the year progresses. Honda's probably using their Japan assembly plant to help get more 8th Gen's out there for the time being.

2008 I4 Accord were assembled in Japan (w/ J VIN), V6 Accord were assembled in U.S. I plan to buy a 08 Accord V6 EX-L w/ NAVI.

Owner of 4 Accords incl. Accord hybrid '05 w/ NAVI

My '05 Accord Hybird was assembled from Japan and shipped to me in US but engine oil got leaked at 12K miles and some other "boo boo". The dealer had to spend some $10K to fix that under warranty. Some small purring noise sounds when engine changes mode from gas to electric. But, the hybrid "purrs" nicely as a cat when it runs.
