OEM all the way on my Honda, Most OEM are either Trico or Bosch
except on certain imports!
I added Bosch to the poll also..

yeah, i kinda forgot to put bosch and a few others on there...i have noticed that the teflon wipers that i use (trico, bosch?) are holding up pretty well...i don't think that i'll get another season out of the driver's side one tho...the passenger side still looks real good, almost new from the packaging.

is it possible to get those wipers that you see on some of the new vw's??? it looks like they're all rubber, speed-rated too i would think...

i think that i will try piaa's new low-profile wipers, rated up to 140 mph...i like winter blades, but once you get above 70mph with them on, they're useless...

oem usually. i had a hard time finding blades for my civics. it seemed like everyone was always sold out of the right size in every brand!

once i get the money (if i ever do), i'll be buying mine online...hopefully, they'll last longer than 6 months...the ones that i have on my car now are a little over a year old...

i once made the mistake of putting off changing my blades on my first civic for a couple of days too long!!! ended up with a flap of the blade flopping around....

We bought the Accord in Jul-02. Same wipers on there. I'm hoping to get 3 years out of them. They are still ok. My wife only drives 2-3 miles to work each way so they aren't used often.

My Pontiac has OEM blades as well now. I tried ANCO, but they only lasted 3 months. I left them on for 6 months b/c I hated to throw them away that quick. I put Trico on there next & got a year tops out of them. They should've been replaced at about 9 months though.

I use IPA to clean them every so often.

IPA? what is that stuff??? industrail cleaner of some sort? i'm kinda clueless....

Hey benjamming,

try some 303 protectant works really well:thmsup:

IPA seems to dry them out IMO....

IPA= isopropyl alcohol

The Honda OEM inserts are only $4 each. Is it really that big a deal to replace them routinely every 3 - 6 months? You could spend more than that on an air freshener...

I think I need to check the price again at the dealer...I may have paid a bit more last time.

i had been getting the honda oem ones through my family friend mechanic for around 3 for my civic. but he was only charging me what he had had paid, which is way more than cost i'm sure since he's not a honda mechanic... but still cheaper than at the local dealerships. ;)

When we need any, he just brings them home from work..... he pays & I never see the bill. They just appear, like magic!

I whine that my windows seems streaky in the rain....next thing I know they aren't anymore... MAGIC!

i wish it was that easy!!! those things can be frustrating to replace! although i learned a trick-take the entire blade off of the car and then put the refills in. that was alot easier than doing it with everything attached to the car!

I couldn't do it if I wanted to.....too short!

At his dealer, if you buy them there one of the lot lizards or service writers will usually install them for free.

Anybody with experience on how RainX affects blade life?

Inspector1

I would say that it helps blade life more than hurts!!

Wipers worst enemy is UV rays then Dirt or anything abrasive on your windshield(Just imagine rubbing a wiper across a piece of 180 grit sandpaper at 60 swipes a minute.)
Using anything to repel dirt from you windshield would help wiper life..
I have used Rain-x , AquaPel and now Klasse AIO on my windows
and also have recently been treating my wiper blades w/303 Protectant..

Hope this helps..

i could go to one of the auto stores and get some random ones there and they install for you too if you want... my mechanic would install them, but i'm usually there with my dad who insists on helping him with everything. can't complain, because i've gotten things done there before without being charged for labor!

lot lizards!!! :lmao:

My Bosch blades are starting to streak. Very disappointing - especially for a $35 pair of blades. I've only used them less than 10 times total, no more than 20 mins at a time.

lot lizards is the term used.....I don't know what they'd really be..... they sometimes do the shuttle runs, wash cars, chase down parts from other dealers..... The only term my prince ever uses is lot lizards.:dunno:

I've used Lexor inserts in the past, but I think I'll give the OEM inserts a try next time.

Does the 303 help? No streaking? I usually just clean the blades well every time I wash the car. Lately that's been few and far between.

My blades last fairly well. If I have fresh RainX, I hardly use them above 35mph. Nighttime driving in torrential rain is no problem.

I use wax instead of RainX. Works fine. Sometimes around here we get an early morning mist. It's annoying because it's such a small amount that the wiper wipes a dry windshield on the way down. If I get up to 50MPH the mist droplets start to ball up and fly off the windshield, quite amusing to watch :)
