View Full Version : New Accord Owner
AnteChrist 10-17-2007, 10:21 AM I sold my 1999 Acura TL and bought a Red 2007 Accord (EX-L V6) this past weekend. So far I'm pretty happy with the purchase, although the red is taking some getting used to. My TL was Heather Mist Metallic. I went in to buy a 2008 but I got about $5000 off just for getting a 2007 and couldn't pass up the deal. I got side molding, tinting, door edge guards etc thrown on and got it for $23,000. They only had red or white V6's, so I went with the red.
The main thing that disappoints me is the fact that it has no aux hookup for an iPod like the 2008. I've been doing some research here, and it doesn't look like there is a really a good solution. I'd love to hear what people are doing for iPod hookups. I don't necessarily need a dock connection, although the charging while driving would be nice. A direct headphone cable to the audio system would be satisfactory, though. I'm not sure what to do and I don't want a substandard system. I also don't want to lose my XM and CD changer capability.
I'm going Friday to get them to tint the windows. I am thinking I should get the plain, smoky black tint rather than reflective tint because I think it will look better with the red. I want to get it fairly dark. In Florida, the legal tint is 28 up front and 15 in the back, but the dealer I bought from is a friend so I'm shooting for them to do 15 all the way around. I don't want mis-matched tint because it looks like poop.
I think I might pick up a set of the Weathertech rubber floor mats, too. I hear they cover way more of the floor than the OEM ones. If anyone has any experience with them I'd love to hear about it.
stevencrosbie 10-17-2007, 10:23 AM Welcome to the forum. I know a few people have Weathertech rubber mats and love them. I am going to buy a set for the Tundra as soon as I have a few extra bucks to waste.
Post some pictures of your Accord when you get the chance. I love the Moroccan (SP?) Red Pearl.

excellent choice of color and trim level with your new accord. for the ipod hookup, i had my dealer install the cassette deck offered through honda. i use a cd to cassette and it works great with my ipod, as well as any other
mp3 i use with the car. i didnt want to be limited using the ipod only adapter the dealer was offering and the cassette adapter works great. its well within my reach while im driving and i can leave my ipod in the little slot directly below.
as for tinting, why dont you just get 30 or 35 all around so its still withing legal limits? i think anything below 30 really doesnt make much of a temperature difference.
i live in florida as well. as for the all season rubber mats offered by honda, i think they work just fine and cover pretty much 90% of the floor. there are some spots that will accumulate dirt, but as long as you vacuum the car thoroughly, that shouldnt be an issue. the weather tech mats are overkill for me personally since it really never snows in florida, but it does rain. unless you visit snowy climates alot, the honda ones are just fine for everyday use.

IMO, the best iPod solution would be the USA Spec iPod kit.
Welcome and congrats on the new ride.
Check out 3rd party aux or ipod adapters. There's a ton of them on ebay, i got me a Peripherial aux unit for 80$.

How does it work?
Do they let you still use your CD changer and XM? Do any of them?

I already ordered the weathertech ones. $99 and I think they look more custom and sporty. I bet the OEM ones cost more. I haven't priced them though.
voltron1011 10-17-2007, 12:05 PM Congrats on the good deal!!! It seems to be an excellent time to still pick up an 07!!

the unit i got utilizes the external CD connector and when you switch to it says "CDC Disk 1". It works ok, during playback some very slight hissing, barely noticable. However when there's no signal there's more hissing. I also got a noise filter, so i am not sure how it would work without it....Also the AUX is a tad lower volume than radio, but that maybe due to my player...it's rather low on volume.
Overall it's quite allright.
XM maybe be a problem, at least some units i saw are not compatible, but don't trust me on that i have not researched this aspect.
What I like about the full blast iPod adapters is that you can control your iPod from the radio or the steering wheel.
Of course they cost a bit more, but still...120$ or so.

forgot one thing...
You can still use the in dash CD changer, but if you have an external one that gets trickier. The unit I got has hookups for a couple of CD changer makes....But i am not sure if you just plug in one of those, there maybe som more wiring included.
