Hello,

First off, I love the site. Now, I have a few suspension questions:

1- Has anybody actually figured out the actuall ball park cost of putting some Tein Basics on the car, including rear camber, alignment, etc?

My mechanic at work said he would never put any aftermarket parts on a car, because it messes them up. And I get all my work done here (at work) for free. I tried to talk him into it, but he wouldn't budge.

So my second question is:

2- Has there ever been any "ill" effects from lowering your accords this way? I only want to drop it around 2".

Finally:

3- Where do you get them put on? Rim Shops, tire shops, or can basically any shop do it?

I know I sound like an idiot, but thanks in advance for the help.

1) I've been quoted $800 installed for the Basics ($1000 for the Super Street's), but keep in mind that prices will vary from whom you buy them from and whom you get to install them. Alignment and camber adjustment pricing will also vary, but figure in around $150-$200 for a proper job. So about $1000 for everything.

2) Not sure what you mean by ill effects, but a 2" drop on the Basics will make your ride stiffer. I'd say that the Basics are at least 1.5 times stiffer than the stock suspension. The stiff ride will be even more noticeable if the roads you drive on aren't smooth or in bad condition.

If you want coilovers with adjustable dampening so you can adust the stiffness, then go with the Super Streets.

Oh, and another issue I've read about with the Basics are squeaking noises. You can ask joerockt about this since he had Basics on his TSX. I've been told that the squeaking issue is kinda rare or that the noises are faint. But :dunno:

3) Any motorsports shop or shop that knows how to work on suspension should be able to install them. If you're not sure, ask around. Or better yet, tell us where you live and maybe someone here will be able to recommend an installer.

Coilovers generally have stiff springs. Look around for shock/spring combinations too (like koni yellows and eibach pro springs?). Koni make great dampers.

If you want, you can also save a few more bucks and get the TSX Tein CS coilover. Adjustable height and dampening force. I know atleast one guy on v6p who says the ride is "butter smooth".

As for ill effects from coilovers it will vary from person to person. I find the "smooth" stock ride a bit annoying on long drives because it's on the bouncy side (it takes time for the damper to absorb the shock and calm down the spring). I'm lowered on Tein Flex which has very stiff springs and can tell you I enjoy long drives a lot more now. Yes you can feel road imperfections easily but the dampers work nicely with the springs and it doesn't annoy me at all. Stiff but not bouncy.

Thanks a lot for the responses.

What I mean by "ill" effects is, does it mess any other parts on the car up by lowering it? I understand the ride will be a little different but, my mechanic said it puts stress on other parts of the car and causes them to go bad faster.
