I hit 70,000 miles the other day! No mechanical problems, no major rattles, nothing. Just 70k of trouble-free driving. And from what I understand, at 70k, a Honda is just getting warmed up! 30,000 more until I'm a Honda Mile Maker!

AND a timing belt / water pump job, what preventive MX have you done so far, spend a little money if you can and see if you can get some better gas milage or make your tires last longer or make the ride feel smoother, just a few things here and there will make you and your car feel better, glad it has been good for you. We will all pitch in and help you DIY, when ever you feel like doing something and spending your hard earned GW's.

The 2.4 has a timing chain, so I don't need to worry about that.

In the past month, I've done:

* Oil change w/ Mobil 1 5W-20 & Mobil 1 filter (used since new)
* Detailed interior
* Lubricated sunroof tracks

Need to do:
* Transmission fluid drain/refill x 3 (I do this every 20,000 miles)
* Lubricate door seals with Shinetsu (sp?) grease
* 4 wheel alignment (it wears tires evenly, but it's only had one in 70k-why not?)
* 4 new tires--still factory Turanzas at 70,000 miles
* Wash/clay bar/wax

That's about all I can think of. I maintain the car well--it still drives very tightly. It tracks better than a lot of cars I've driven with less miles. The only fluid I ever have to add is windshield washer fluid--no leaks of any kind. And it still puts a smile on my face when I drive it. Are there any other maintenance items I'm missing out on?

I am hitting that figure soon by the end of the week. Thanks for the write up. What I haven't done yet is transmission fluid drain. But surely I'll gonna do it after the mark'

Thanks.

Edwilson:

Have you ever added coolant or top off? Cuz I loose about an inch every 2-3 weeks.

70k since 2005?

70,000 miles since March 14th, 2005. For most of the time I've owned the car, I was doing a 140 mile/day round trip commute.

Jake:

I've never had to top off the coolant.

It's posts like these that really make me feel glad I bought this accord instead of the maxima. The maxima is what I really wanted..but the additional costs of the car, the gas, the insurance, maintenance...and the fact that it's just plain out not as reliable..well, I'm just thrilled with my accord. I've never liked Honda (mainly because of the civic crowd)...but I believe between the accord and this community (amazingly mature and grown up + anti-modded out ricer) I am really starting too like Honda :D

It's nice to go on a forum with a group of people that for the majority need/use their honda for the same purposes as me..people that are grown up and not boy racers..which was quite common in the Spec V community unfortunately. I'm glad to hear you havn't had any problems with your car. I plan on treating my accord nicely, I am going to make a couple simple visual changes and then I will just drive and do normal maintenance and I hopes it's nice back to me.

Are you sure about the timing chain? I have seen somewhere on this board that the switch from the belt to the chain in the I4 didn't occur until 2006.

That's a lot of trouble free miles for an '05! I have had older used accords over 100k and except for that belt have had no problems at all. Happy driving!

That post was not accurate. I saw and replied to it earlier.

All K-Series 4cyl's have timing chains.

I'm glad to read posts like these it also makes me glad I switched from a 04 camry to my 06 Honda LX-V6. I was wondering what kind of life can I expect from my tires before replacing them? I have the Micelin's that came with the car(bought it new) Can someone please tell me how many miles they got before they had to change the tires on an LX-V6?

We topped 72000 last week... only maint. stuff, and bruises from hail and an hit and run driver... solid car still drives the way she did when I first took her home. ;)

Good, good and good. This is my first Honda and I love it so far (22,000 miles).

Yep. All of the K-series engines have timing chains. The R-series (in the new Civic) does, as well.

My sister's Ohio built 2003 I4/5AT Accord EX has gone just over 100k miles needing only an O2 sensor and a stereo headunit outside of routine maintenance. The headunit was replaced via goodwill.

I hit 70,000 two weeks ago, now I am at 70669. I had to do a serpentine belt and a new battery, but that's minor. I am going to do a tranny fluid drain and fill next week, and a tire rotate and oil change.........

I believe the timing chain still needs serviceing @ 105k. Check your owners manual, because it is not something to neglect.

The timing chain is designed to last the life of the engine. It is self tensioning as well so it should not need adjustment either.
