It seems that more & more people are complaining about brake shudder problems across the board....
I would recommend not washing(spraying brake rotors)after car has been driven ,this will only compund your chances of warped rotors.
Just a thought

so should i wake up at 4am so i can wash it after it's been sitting for hours, then go to work? ;)
just kidding! i wait atleast an hour or two before i wash mine after having driven it (usually 2.5 hours or so). have to wait for the hood and all to cool down too! :D

I would recommend waiting until you can touch with you hand without burning your fingers.

so i should start sticking my hand into the wheel and checking it too? right now i only check the hood.....
ah, well, atleast it's starting to get cooler outside so if i leave it sit outside instead of the garage, it would probably cool down quickly!

I have found that my rotors are cool enough within an hour to go at washing normally. The biggest issue with this is a pay wash where your basically pulling off the road and spraying very hot rotors with cool water or driving through a large trough(puddle)of water after coming off a long exit ramp...

I always let my rotors cool down until I can touch them. I don't let them get REALLY cold though. Sometimes when I'm impatient or rushing, I'll drown the rotor in water and pray that it doesn't warp. Don't do that though. They warped haha

i'm sure i've driven through many a puddle with hot rotors!!! with our random wet stretches of road on hot sunny days, it's pretty easy. and you're lucky if you don't bite a pothole at the same time!! :bawling:

Or you could get a set of nice stock steel wheels with the plastic hubcaps. This would allow less water intrusion into the caliper/rotor assy area:)
Aren't we DX/LX owners lucky:bawling:

come to think of it, never had an issue with my either of my civics and they both had the hubcap deal!

My 96 was a DX or better known as a value package...
Aftermarket sunroof and CD changer installed...no cruise, or power anything.

woah! new top of the page!!!
anyway, i know people with dx civics, but for some reason it seems to be rare in the accords! i think you're the first one i've "met" who has had a dx accord in fact! ;) nothing wrong with that!

Yup I've seen DX Accords before. They do exist, especially around here where you might use AC about 10 days out of a year :)

i think that's where the dx looses around here. by the time you add ac, you might as well buy the lx! you don't NEED ac here, if you don't mind sweating up a storm alot! :D

as many times as i go check out the dealerships in the area, i can't remember the last dx i saw on the lots! most around here seem to be lx's or exl or exv6. i think most people tend to add the ac here and by that point (cost wise), you might as well upgrade to the lx.
hey, my ex with cloth seems to be a rare thing too! ;)

This reminds me of a conversation I overheard when I was buying my Civic back in 99...
The saleswoman at the next table was talking to a couple buying an Accord. They were being extremely argumentative with her, and were mad that they had no Dx models available. They decided they wanted an LX, because of the power windows and stuff. But then...said they wanted it with no a/c.
After several attempts to explain that it's not really something that can be just taken off the car, the saleswoman finally said something like "Look, you're not buying a hamburger, we can't just take things on and off as you please."
My salesman dropped his pen in mid-sentence, we both looked at each other and tried our damdest not to laugh out loud until after they left. We didn't make it.

too funny!!
did the saleswoman try to find a dx at another dealership i wonder? but then they'd have to add all of the power stuff in (if that's even possible!)
my cousin's ex-girlfriend went shopping for a dx at one point and wanted to add the cd player and ac to it... the salesguy told her she might as well look at the lx and she said she couldn't afford the lx! she hadn't researched beyond the dx becase it was all she could afford! yet, she could afford adding on the cd player and ac...... i told her next time she wants to look into any honda's let me know because i could've helped her out ALOT with that one! ;) (she is the same one who was ticked when she found out how much i paid for my ex!! :blah: )

I don't know if she did, but if I was in her shoes, that sale wouldn't have been worth it. Even if the saleswoman managed to track one down and have it shipped over, they'd still expect to pay $900 under invoice, or get free oil changes for life.
I don't know, I guess I just have the type of personality that researches stuff thoroughly before making a decision on what to buy. I do it all so when I get to the store, I know what I want and how much it should cost. I don't waste the salesperson's time.
I don't get people who don't do their homework beforehand.

Good point!!! I believe you will find most of the group here is that way also.
I believe the future will hold more and more consumers that are penny-wise but of course the vendors will try and keep the playing field unlevel with new tactics..

i researched to the incentives, the trim levels, what other people were paying for the car, etc to death before i even started my process of buying this accord! and even when i started the process, it wasn't set in stone that i was going to get one, after all i didn't need one! i purely wanted one. ;)
i never understand why someone who really wants a certain car doesn't know the details on how to get the closest to what they want for the "best" price (i.e. dx versus lx). it seems too obvious to figure out WHAT you want in a car before shopping for one and then to find a corresponding trim that gets you the best deal!

plus it puts you "ahead" when bargaining if you knwo what you want and what accys you want ahead of time and how much it should cost and what you are willing to pay! :D

Another pulsation reliever....
My car had a noticeable pulsation from hi-speed stops for about 6-8 weeks.. Over a week ago I had one of my rear pads wear indicators start squealing so I replaced the rear pads.
Now the frt brake pulsation is 90% gone from hi-speed stops!!
So that leads me to believe that you can have a slight warpage issue that is compounded by the amount of rear stopping power and/or pad thickness.
The dealer had put new pads on @ 27k so 54k on a set of rear pads is not to bad.. The next set will be checked very close every 20k(pull apart and inspect+clean). It started one morning and I had to drive all day with the squeak(drove me nuts). Don't want another day like that.

I'm still on my original rears. Love those rear shoes. Hope to get 200K with them:)
