How do you turn off the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) or CEL (Check engine Light) Same light. Is there a fuse that will turn it off as in other cars I have owned or do you have to disconect the battery? If I have to disconect the battery then I have to fool with the radio code and who knows what else. Great forum and very helpful posts and people. Thanks in advance from a new Honda owner.

I doubt there is any way manually to shut the light off without a scan tool of some kind. the government these days doesn't want you doing that without fixing the car. gotta think about the environment. it's all about the environment. the light is on because the tailpipe not as clean as it should be. if you DID fix the car, the light will eventually shut itself off. otherwise, disconnect the battery, and probably leave it disconnected for a while. that should work, but I have had some cars that retain their fault memories even with the battery disconnected....

I remember on my '98 (6th gen) there was one fuse (I think the ACC one) that did it.

On the '03 (7th gen) there isn't anything published, so before I got an OBD reader I tried pulling one by one the fuses out and that turned it off. Don't know which one did the trick as I didn't try starting it every time I removed/put back a fuse.

If you have the patience to do that, remove/put back-start-check all of them one by one let us know which one did the trick.

Yeah, radio codes are a must... don't do anything involving the battery or fuses if you don't have them handy. Also if you try anything with the fuses and the battery make sure there is no key in the ignition... that can screw up things really bad with the computer.

BEWARE of the radio, do you have the code, some Euro cars, you disconnect the battery and short the battery cables together to drain the capacitors in the ECM that hold power for long time in the 'keep alive memory'.

Start the car and let it relearn the idle till it gets fully warm and radiator fan comes on, dont know if this would work for Honda.
