: Car came in finally :)
StudmasterSteve 10-30-2007, 10:34 AM My 08 Honda Accord V6 Black on black coupe has just arrived at my Honda dealer. I have already taken a look at it and absolutly love it. Also with the money I have saved up I won't have to worry about any payments at all. It will be paided off in full which is a great thing as well.
Not sure if I can get pics up at the moment since I don't have the stuff to upload them but I will see what I can do for you all :)
stiller fan 10-30-2007, 12:04 PM you can go to a website to et them resized, saved on your desktop, then post them on here....

is it a manual or an auto? I'm really itching to hear how people respond to the manual.
trotgolfer 10-30-2007, 01:11 PM Your going to love it. Sounds like you been waiting long enough.

I think that means that he is in charge of the lumber used to make walls.
krazyfiend 10-30-2007, 04:34 PM sweet!
welcome to the club; black on black was my first choice..but the wait time for what options I got wasn't really what I had in mind, the polished metal won me over

I know. I'm probably either getting another BOB or a Polished Metal Metallic. That is a fine color, you have to admit. Cleaness factor too. Probably black though. It's sleek, sporty, and clean. Each has its own positives but idk. To me LOOKS are most important.

I need to have someone clean my car every morning.
StudmasterSteve 10-30-2007, 07:09 PM This Studmaster joke must be an inside thing with this forum :P
To answer some questions:
It is an Auto, yes I will try to get some pics up, and once you go black you never go back.
I have not been able to drive it yet since it still had its plastic covers on it but I should have it by the weekend.:lurk:
Looks wise, so much better in person with the outside. Looks fantastic!
Hope to bring you all up to date soon :)
stevencrosbie 10-30-2007, 08:08 PM Sounds good! Congrats on the new ride!
jang859 10-30-2007, 09:46 PM I'm getting a black on black coupe as well, but it's the v4. i'm getting the leather seats though.

I4, not L4 or V4. I = "Inline"
Altho IIRC, some old Saabs sported an anemic V4....
HondaPOD 10-31-2007, 01:32 PM I see an '08 black coupe everyday at my school. VERY CLEAN LOOKING COUPE!

StudmasterSteve 11-01-2007, 01:00 AM At lease I can be a part of some of the humor on this forum. Can you say comic relief lol. I will be picking it up today but till I get it you all can wait in suspence :P
StudmasterSteve 11-01-2007, 09:57 PM My Honda Accord V6 Coupe Automatic Black on Black Review
For my 2008 Honda Accord I have notice many things I like and also a couple annoyances here and there
For the likes:thmsup::
First things first the looks in person with this car are amazing. In person this car gives you so much more then a picture can. I really got to say the side view by far has to be the best view this car can get. With the front coming in second and the back comming in last.
Also be prepared to get some looks from other drivers and people passing by. When I got it home in just 2 hours I had people looking at it so be prepared for it.
When we take a look in the inside you get pleased with very nice leather and enough buttons to satisfy a aircraft flyer. However don't let this take anything away from it. It may be overwelming but in the end the controls come together and the confusion goes away.
When I first drove the coupe when test driving it I noticed that the shifter was quite low. This was a concerned but no longer with driving the vehicle a bit to get used to it.
Audio system for the accord is actually nicely done. Higher end sounds are made very clean and give a very nice touch to the car. Mids and low are not to shabby but for 260 watts of power you can only get so much. For the average person to above average person this should do just fine. Since I have had subs before in my previous vehicle this was a great mix for the overall sound.
Just sneaking this one in... the doors shut like a dream. Nice little thunk
The visual screen in the vehicle(not having one in a pevious vehicle) this is also pleasing. It shows pratically everything you may need and more. Everything from temp to what sound is playing. Very well placed in the car.
Loads of room. Loads of it... loads...loads... did I say loads already. There is room for everything you may ever want in the car. Compartments here and there. No worries about hiding stuff at all on those long trips and with an added bonus they don't look like they open so the hiding factor is a major plus.
The seats wrap you in a nice little warm hug(that is if you want the heated seats on) without the heat; hugs are still welcome :).
Engine compartment(Ya cannot froget about that :D) Is nicely organized and clean. Colored to the parts you can check and even has a stabalizer bar to stiffin it out. I don't know how many performance parts will be comming out for this car but it looks like a car that will recieve some love from some companys
Trunk room is also large enough for your goodies and stuff you may want to store in with a nicely placed spare tire neatly hiding under the base of the trunk. Also the seats fold back but not in 50/50 but that is not a concern for me at all. I won't be loading up long stuff anyways.
Part of my likes in the driving is the smoothness of the engine. Before I tested a sedan and kinda felt a delay but for some reason do not feel a delay at all in my car. Smooth all the way throughout the revs and revs happy as well. It sure isn't afraid to let you know its there when you press down on the pedal and also loves to cruise around as well. The cylinder deactivation was hardly noticeable when going from 6-4 but you can feel it a bit more when it goes from 4-3. The feeling you get is almost like a geardown or a little hesitation like the civics but its there to save gas and that never hurts :)
For the dislikes:
To start off one of the dislikes to me is the view from the rear mirror when backing up. With my previous car(2002 Ford Mustang) I never had a problem with backing up but this one does seem a little narrow and can be difficult to get out of parking spots but this might be corrected with getting to know the vehicle and understanding the limits just by driving.
Opening the gas tank is from the inside and not used to getting it opened from the inside. Just used to opening from the outside. This might also take some time as well. Not that I don't like the safety feature of it; just a little getting used too. Also I don't know how long this will last over the years. Guess I will see if it grows on me.
When driving you notice most bumps on the road. Not too heavy at times but you can feel them as others have posted in other reviews. Wasn't too much of a dislike since you cannot please everyone but I am sure this can be easily fixed with aftermarket to whatever your needs are.
Steering wheel also feels a little stiffer then I would have expected but it is also brand new so I am sure there is still break in time that is needed. A little stiffer then I like but willing to deal with it.
Final Conclusion
This car overall with everything said above is easily one of the best cars I have ever purchased. I really do believe that Honda has won me over with this car and hope to continue to see more news and reviews of this car as I grow and age with all its beauty and grace. StudmasterSteve Recommended as well as StudmasterSteve Car of the year goes out to it as well. Go Honda!
krazyfiend 11-02-2007, 02:53 AM nice review studmaster, very spot on!
you will get used to the gas tank open from the inside, it took me awhile...but my mothers 04' civic hybrid trained me somewhat.
the differences when going from my old merc to the honda are crazy and make me appreciate german and japanese ingenuity in their own rights.
Barry45RPM 11-02-2007, 06:52 AM If you feel you are feeling every bump, check your tire pressure. Tires are very overinflated at the factory to prevent "flat spotting" in transit & lot storage. Since the cars arent being "driven" heat build-up & overinflation are not a problem. Dealers are supposed to set the correct TP before delivery during "Dealer Prep" (Wash & Roll) but they often don't.
jang859 11-02-2007, 09:56 AM What exactly is this gas tank open from the inside?
viscott 11-02-2007, 10:18 AM Excellent review! CONGRATULATIONS!
I have had Accord Coupes since 2000 and the gas filler release has always been inside the car. Keeps the lines of the car clean and is more secure.
The steering wheel is more of a heavy and tight feel and has been pretty consistant over the years. I would say with the 18" wheels you have better control and the wheel is much more responsive then past versions. I noticed the difference in steering a few years ago when I test drove some Acura's and got back in my 05 Coupe. I would say personally I prefer the way the steering feels in the new coupe.
I agree the controls can be a little bit daunting especially since I have a NAVI, but as with anything you get used to it and if you take the time to learn the new controls it will be all second nature.
Backing up can be fun in this car...since gen 7 when they tapered the back off considerably it makes it very hard to see the line of the car when backing up. I am in a tight garage so it can be a challenge, especially with tinted windows.
I love the feel of the new shorter shifter. It just feels right in your hands when you are driving and want to pop it n and out of 3rd gear.
The looks and comments are priceless for the people seeing your car on the road for the first time. And boy does it look sexy just sitting in a parking space :)
Going on my first road trip in my coupe tonight!
StudmasterSteve 11-02-2007, 11:13 AM Sorry for the double post, I don't know why it did that
Accordlover 11-02-2007, 11:35 AM What exactly is this gas tank open from the inside?
It's a release lever inside the cabin on the drivers side floor that allows you to pop open the trunk and the gas tank. Accord's have had this since at least 86 or so.
The gas opener release is just now starting to fail me after 12 years of use just for reference studmaster ( :naughty: :lmao: ).
stiller fan 11-02-2007, 11:35 AM you can edit your own posts.....
just delete one of them.....
StudmasterSteve 11-02-2007, 03:09 PM There thanks for the info about deleting a post and how long the gas tank lever lasted :)
If anyone else has any questions about my car just go ahead and ask :)
stiller fan 11-02-2007, 03:59 PM i think that the gas tank lever has been around since the late 70's if i'm not mistaken...... :)

IIRC, my 1980 Accord sedan had a keyed access on the outside filler door (access from the outside), like on the trunklid, but no interior release lever as is commonplace today. I think 1982 (the first year of the 2nd gen) may have moved to an inside fuel filler door release. If I can find any old photos from back then I can double check (my mother owned a 1981 and 1982 sedan at one point, and as mentioned I owned an '80 Accord sedan).

ok so i've had 3 cars including a 90 accord, what is confusing about this? isn't the gas release always drivers side door inside?

ItsaHonda 11-03-2007, 07:19 PM Both my 81 Civic and 83 Accord had locking fuel doors and I don't recall there being an interior release lever on either car. I would assume that began with the 3rd gen Accord and Civic.

maybe u were speaking of only honda's ?
the gas rls being somewhere in the cabin is definitely not in 1980-1995 mercedes...
...the fuel door being able to be pushed open is determined by whether or not the car is locked or unlocked... all controlled by vacuum pressure and air lines (crazy krauts!) :)
HondaPOD 11-04-2007, 07:42 AM Did the op get his car yet!! I'm so impatient.
