Hi, I bought a 94 Accord LX last week and now I want to upgrade the sound system. I am completely new to car audio so I don't know much at all about what to buy and I have some questions.
It already has Pioneer TS-A1671R 6.5" speakers in the rear and a Pioneer DEH-1500 head unit. The front speakers are stock and one of them is blown.

Crutchfield says that Alpine SPS-17C2 6.5" speakers wont fit in the front door, but doesn't the front door use 6.5" speakers?
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?o=v&g=52000&i=500SPS17C2&tp=95
Does anyone have them and what did you have to do to get them to fit?
Should I put my Pioneer speakers in the front and use the Aplines in the back? Should I have the better speakers in the front or the back?
Would it be better to put 6x9s in the back and just move the Pioneers to the front? Is it even possible to put 6x9s in the back if there is 6.5"s in there now?

Also if I want some more bass what should I get for subs and an amp? Whats the best setup I can get for around $350, and is the amp and subs hard to install?

Did you check your user manual? Also, check the car manual to.

See what size will fit and then judge from there

I don't think the Accord's owners manual lists sound system specs.

Crutchfield.com's "OutFitMyCar" option is the tool you need to use to get the right speakers.

The front and rear speakers are not the same on the 1994-1997 Honda Accord.

The fronts are 6-1/2" circular speakers.
The rears are 6x9's.

Crutchfield sells adapters for the speakers so you don't have to splice the wires.

Good luck!

do you have 6.5"s in the back?
you can replace them with 6x9"s, and move the pioneers to the front:yes:
if the speaker magnet is to big in the front it will hit the window, so that might be why the alpines you want won't fit. but that can be fixed most of the time by cutting some spacers to bring the speaker out more.

i used to have a 94 accord and am into the car audio scene. on a 94 LX, the fronts and rears are 6.5s. The fronts are pretty easy to replace, except you ahve to take off the whole door panel. the rears are easy too, if you are replacing them w/ 6.5s. the hole size in back is 6x9, but the bolts dont line up with a 6x9 speaker .i put 6x9s in the rear and had to make custom mounting brackets do get them to fit. i think you can buy brackets like these of of a website but i forgot the URL...

if you have any other questions feel free to ask and the car belongs to my brother now so i can take pics if you need. hope this helps!
