08 Coupe 11-04-2007, 06:30 PM Cloud Rider Stainless Steel bumper inserts????
Darth Do'Urden 11-04-2007, 08:49 PM Beautiful color. So much better this year than the '07 Red...that crap was nasty ugly.
Nice ride...congrats. Do you love the Navi or what? =)
accordexlv6 11-04-2007, 09:03 PM That looks exactly like the color of our Nissan Pathfinder. Ours is called Merlot Pearl. It is a beautiful color... lots of pearl flecks... very sparkly.
But as rich looking as it is... it is like black in that it looks dirty and shows spots whenever it rains at all. When it's clean and dry (like it will be here in Florida for the next 6 months:)) it looks fantastic.
To this day, we still get compliments on what a pretty color it is. Just be forewarned: it will take lots of upkeep to maintain it's stunning looks.
Cloud Rider Stainless Steel bumper inserts????To protect the wide open AC condensor from small stones, birds, insects and road debris. There are others out there that make them, but I do perfer the Cloud Rider because of the quality of their Stanless Steel.

Bouncnb 11-05-2007, 04:14 AM Man it must really get cold where you are, battery blanket and an engine block heater. I will have to say that red has to be one of the nicest reds I have seen on a car in along time. I like the one you have better than the Salsa red that Toyota has.

Nice car. That's one of the two colors I'm considering.
What part of Canada?
HondaPOD 11-05-2007, 01:00 PM Nice!
Congrats.
ItsaHonda 11-05-2007, 01:11 PM Very nice car (and color) I'd have a tough time choosing between the Basque red and polished metal.
IMO, the 8th gen Accord would have also looked great in Noble green pearl.
That's easily the nicest shade of red since Bordeaux Red.
Enjoy.
KablaaaM 11-06-2007, 09:23 PM Sweat Color!!!
Can you post pics of what the clear bra looks like. I'd love to see a front shot! Thanks!
Love the color! That deep red reminds me of my grandpas old Cadillac with the white top.
Anyway, you have any pictures of that grill insert?
Succinct 11-07-2007, 01:59 AM Very nice! It's my favorite 8th gen sedan so far!
I think it's the tinted windows.
JWesG2 11-07-2007, 11:29 AM Honest-to-god.. After seeing the 08 accord sedans, i told myself i wouldnt even consider one, i just liked the 7th gen sedans esp the 06-07's so much more.
But now your car got me liking them :)
LOVE IT!
Love the coupes too, id be hard pressed to decide betweent the two
waldo 11-07-2007, 11:52 AM That's easily the nicest shade of red since Bordeaux Red.
Which of your past Hondas had Bordeaux Red?
I'm trying to remember the name of the dark red on my '88 LXi. They changed the dark red slightly for '89, making it slighly lighter and slightly more towards the "tomato" side of red. This new color reminds me of the darker '88 red.
leeanders 11-07-2007, 11:59 AM You mentioned that your new 08 Accord Sedan had a BACK UP Camera included with the NAV unit. Is that standard with the Nav unit on all 08's with Nav? I don't see a back up camera listed in the equipment list provided by Honda? ????????

The '08 Accords w/Nav do NOT come standard with Backup Camera. It is an extra accessory than can be ADDED by the dealer.
I think it was kinda dumb to exclude the camera when everything else (except Civic) come standard with it. In my opinion, the Accord is large enough to warrant the camera as standard equipment. But it was probably a price-point decision on Honda's part.

:banana::banana: Awesome looking in that color! Can you show us a few pics with a direct SIDE view (I'd like to see how the larger rear flip looks in direct side profile). Right now I am planning on getting the smaller trunk air damn. Also give us a few FRONTAL  shots.
Thanks for the views!

What part of Canada?Sub zero temps are not that bad, till you factor in the wind then it's a new ball game. The link will give you the reason for Engine Block Heater & battery Blanket.

stevencrosbie 11-26-2007, 05:16 PM Spoiler sure does make that rear end of the 8th gen look better!
AccordEd 11-29-2007, 11:57 AM Favorite color for the sedan, good choice. What's that badge below the V6 emblem? I think removing it would really clean up the ass end.
The rear badge is the typical dealer one, it's will off should we ever emerge from this artic weather front (think you Americans call it a Alberta clipper). The Michelin X-Ice winter tires are a stand out on hard packed snow and ice (but beware of getting over confident). Now my next move yes the Honda OEM remote start.
PS: Thanks to all for the compliments on the Basgue Red Pearl color, it was a tough call for me as I also liked a few of the other colors. Last but not least thanks for this Forum a great gang here and a learning curve for me.

Ah, yes. That is indeed cold country. Here in Illinois we do call those refreshing breezes you send this way the "Alberta Clipper." :D

HondaCheesehead 11-30-2007, 10:07 AM I can only speak for the blue (which I own) and the red, which parked next to me last weekend.
I second the points above about the improvement in the colors. There is much more pearl in both the blue & the red than in the 2007 versions. The pics don't do justice.
For those concerned about paint that scratches easily I had a recent experience that put my concerns to rest a bit. I stopped by a neighbor's house to pick up my son. While I was talking to the neighbor, she noticed her golden retriever repeatedly jumping upside my new Accord, attempting to get at (say 'hi' to) my 6-year-old daughter. The dog must have jumped at the car 7-9 times. I expected to find scratches, but there were none.
I attribute the lack of damage to the Black Magic wet shine liquid wax that was top rated by Consumer Reports. It looks awful after the application, due to hazing, but just as CR reported, it is quite durable.
johnk 12-16-2007, 09:59 AM Would love to see some side shots. Does the spoiler effect rear visability?
Thanks
No the rear spoiler does not effect rear visibility with or without the rear view camera. Here is a side shot I took some time back if you require more just shout (Weather permitting.)
johnk 12-16-2007, 06:18 PM Thanks for your quick post!
ihop4no1 01-07-2008, 09:12 PM I had (and still do) a horrible time deciding between the Basque Red Pearl and the Mystic Green Metallic. The g-friend convinced me that the ivory interior that comes with the red would get dirty, so I went with the green. Here are some pics.
I'm still thinking of trading it in for the red, though.

Ha . . . since the thread was already brought back to life, 2 months is better late than never . . . :D
Bordeaux Red was on my 95 Coupe. My 89 LXi was Navaho Red - which had a slight copper undertone. A deep burgundy was offered also. If your interior is beige with black trim, its Navaho Red (like mine was.) If the interior is burgandy or grey, its the burgandy color and not Navaho.
I have a brochure for the 89 Accords but its in storage else I'd look the exact color names.
ToledoEXV6 01-08-2008, 10:18 AM I picked up my Basque Red EXL V6 last night. The color looks fantastic! I really like it with the Ivory interior. It's not hard to keep clean. The best thing to do is clean it regularly with Zymol leather cleaner and follow it up with the leather conditioner. Whenever you notice dirt, wipe it with the cleaner and it looks as good as new.
I had the ivory interior in my 99 Acura TL and it looked as good as new when I traded it three years later.

As I remember it (your names jogged some gray matter cells), my 88 red was called Claret. This was only on the LXi with the beige and black interior. In 88 the LX and DX got Navaho Red. In 89 all dark reds were Navaho, Claret was dropped.
