You know, this is really a great car when my only complaint is an annoying squeak/rattle from the glovebox when driving. It sounds like the glovebox door is rubbing the dash or something.

Does anyone else have this noise? Just curious.

I get some random popping noises and a rattle at times from the middle console around the hand brake.

Take it to the dealers guys. Make Honda fix this...you all paid good money for this car!

It's niot a rattle, more of a rubbing sound from the glovebox door to the dashboard. A creaking would be more descriptive.

no creaks or any rattles here yet...

but im at like 283miles

only complaint for me is 50-55mph+ speeds with windows down creates a slight windy but noticeable noise from where the seatbelt retains/rolls into the pillar... noticeable when stereo is down or, well meticulous about sounds after coming from a sturdy as a tank M-B

Sheesh, you'd think that with 5 years of glovebox issues on the 7th gen, they'd have gotten it right with the 8th gen....

Make sure your damper isn't unhooked :)

well my accord seems to be loaded with issues (not including scratching my wheel). i think i might have a defective tire or wheel baring/rotor on top of my turning issues.

i feel a thud noise when im slowing down or going slow, so who knows.

i noticed rattling today in my car, not sure where from.

its almost like every day im finding more and more issues. and i barely have had it for 10 days and 600 miles.

If you want to hear rattles try driving in a Jeep. Since moving to the Accord I think my hearing is getting better :)

or my TL....it's still on the lot!

To the OP...you might try some of that felt that has the sticky stuff on the back if you are trying to isolate that glove box creaking. Otherwise...you can try taking it back to get fixed.

It's new, i'd take it back and complain. If they even would try to fix it, I doubt it would do any good, but it'd make me feel better at least :naughty:

I always see complaints about noises in accords on here (an G7C), and I just don't understand it! It's quieter than my ex-wifes IS300, quieter than my dads MB's, and on the same level as his Audi + BMW's...

is my 05 just lucky or is it just not rattling yet? 27k miles it should be rattling already. It's seriously silent. I don't hear road noise, any noise from the tires, anything. Possibly some wind at 75mph but nothing that would bother me.

Spec V with poly motor mounts, torque dampener and balance shaft removed = rattles out of your mind!!!! I could put change in the cup holder and rev it and it would jump out! :lmao:

The 07 had a couple of minor rattles when it was new, but they seemed to have worked themselves out. I haven't heard a rattle in quite a long while (knock on wood). The 06 had rattles everywhere. So far, the 07 has been a better car.

lol, RATTLES!!! I love my accord. The engine is great, the transmission is great, the gas mileage is great, etc. But the stupid issues like rattles and honda cheaping out on certain things that turn into nagging issues can almost take the enjoyment out of driving sometimes. My 2000 4runner had pretty much no rattles at about 90k when I swapped for the Accord. My old 95 accord had no rattles at all except for a glovebox rattle that was simply because of a worn out latch. I am not suprised that they haven't fixed the rattle issues with the 8th gen. I only expect rattles to get worse sadly untill they start to really affect sales.

If you don't hear road noise then you probably aren't very sensitive to the rattle/road noise issue. Compared to other cars that I have owned and driven in that are comparable, the accord has a lot of road noise that seems to originate from the rear, where there is nearly NO insulation to keep the noise out. I recently ripped apart my interior to add some sound deadening, and aside from a bit of foam (not enough) around the rear wheel wells, and some other sparce placement of stuff that looks like carpet padding (again, not enough), there really is no sound insulation. On 95% of the metal surface along the interior metal (below the headliner), there is nothing except the panels and trim to block noise, and hard plastic and cardboard-type materials do not block sound very well. Most of the sound reduction probably comes from the padding of the rear seats. I am not too bothered by road noise, and I probably could have dealt with it if I had to, though I like doing stuff to my car and fatmat wasn't that expensive so I figured I might as well toss some on there.

On my 04 I think I have the infamous glove box rattle. I've seen a few threads but have yet to look into it. Makes me mad! It's so annoying...grrrr

fatmat ftw!

well, if you are cost conscious , fatmat is a great product, but I prefer damplifier from Second Skin if you have the loot...amazing stuff, I have 2-3 layers all the way throughout the cabin and trunk of my M-B.... but about 1500 RMS watts of sound are pumping through that car too, so the deadening enhances the experience and helps on evening out the lowering to the ground and 225/50/16 tires

Germans def. knew about oem sound deadening, even back in 92'

I'm experiencing all the common rattles most 7 gens have (rear deck, seats, glove box, etc.) but I enjoy my car regardless. After contacting Scott Honda, they said they will six all of them when I come in for my first service (I'm still at ~2,800 miles @ 40% oil life).

Any respectable dealership will fix any rattle/vibration problems you may have. You probably just need to leave your car there for a day (they are giving me a loaner) but it's well worth it.

Just go to the dealer with the free loaners. You can go to any dealer for warranty work.

I went to go buy a 7th gen coupe last year. Deal was all done. I just needed to test drive it. Well it rattled before I got off the dealers lot. I just backed it up and said no deal.

That in all honesty is the only rattle trap Accord Ive ever been in. While road noise seems to plauge them by design. Thats the only one I think Ive ever heard rattle like crazy. And it was brand spanking new....

O-Well,,, makes me grateful our 05 doesn't display this behavior. The wife would never notice if it started rattling. Me on the other hand get bent if something is buzzing around in the glove box. Like loose change. :)

Are you sure you dont have something in your glovebox that's not rattling inside? I know when I have certain things in there they tend to rattle.

Well, I may not be sensitive to it, but I've ridden in quite a few cars that have better sound deadening and I must say I am not turned off by the Accord. My 01 M3 was just a quiet, my 03 IS300 was just as quiet, and my 03 Audi S4 was just as quiet. I DO hear what you are saying about road noise from the back though. It's not significant to me though. As far as rattles, I head none...with HVAC and radio off and windows up. If road noise is such an issue, rubberized undercoat the wheel wells in the back and fatmat on the inside. You can also add sound deadening to the doors.

personally i still think the civic is better built than the 08 accord. with that said, ill still take the 08 accord.

i got my car fixed today. rear rotors resurfaced, toe reajusted, couldnt recreate the pulling left, but i assume its the toe that went misaligned that did it. rattle dissapeared......for now. steering wheel now feels solid like the test drive.

im glad its fixed, hope thats all i need.

The Accord is not a car for someone who is easily irritated by noises. Here is my list of favorites:

Interior rattles – not too many so far
Road noise from tires
AC clunks when compressor kicks in for the first time
Noisy shifting - exterior to the car (windows down) - makes a lot of racket going gear-to-gear
MT reverse - sounds as loud and irritating as an old school bus
Brake pads clunk when changing direction – this is getting worse
Valve noise when cold

All of these seriously detract from the quality of a car with many great features. Sounds like the ’08 has not improved and may have gotten worse. If this is the trend, then this may be my first and last Honda.:( Soon Honda will make Ford look good.

Jeeze guys! I in no way meant that the car was a rattle trap. I asked a little question about vinyl on vinyl rub at the glovebox.

FYI

A/C is silent. no compressor noise at all.
No transmission noise into reverse or any other gear
I have 18" wheels and low profile tires, yes there is road noise but this is a sports car, not a luxury sedan. I like to hear and feel the road!
and no valve noise.

This car is WAY quieter than my 92 Prelude.

I'm also with 08 Coupe and Scotte28 ...

very quiet here and my passengers all have comments to say about how quiet it is , even with the 18's ... the comments usually comes from guys who have had a range of vehicles with 18's to 24's in various configurations

Ive noticed in other vehicles the creaks, rubs, other sounds really are prevalent in cold mornings/before a car is warmed up or at a normal temp inside the cabin

The accord is in NO way a sports car, lol...at all. I suppose it's about as much of a sports car as an altima or camry is (not at all).

My 7th gen is developing a few odd rattles/squeaks as it ages. I've got one near the glovebox and one near the base of the windshield--both of these only happen when it's cold outside and go away once the car warms up. I used to have the window seal squeak, but keeping them lubricated gets rid of that.

It has far fewer noises than my Grand Prix did at the same mileage and has had no mechanical problems to boot. I'm still happy and I'll still buy another Honda--I think most brands have rattles but not all brands make otherwise reliable cars.

You beat me to it. It's a four-door family sedan that's missing two doors. Whoop-dee-doo!!! So you pay more for insurance and can't get anything productive accomplished in the back seat without people climbing over your seats. Wow, so sporty   :lmao::lmao:
