I've read the internet forums, countless testimonial posts... and I'm swaying twd's a new V1 for the Accord. 399$ is much better than insurance hikes/tickets/police up in your business.

There probably is another, older thread talking about detectors, but with new 8th gen owners on board this site nearly every day...thoughts? opinions?

i've got an escort x50 before when i used to travel a lot for my job, never get any ticket, it catch KA very good, the only thing is laser, by the time the radar see the police, the police will see you also and you can't prevent it.

i've heard good thing and bad thing about the v1 but can't tell which is true and which is not and i haven't heard anything bad about the escort so that's why i go with escort.

i have an x50 rev6.3 works well enough, no tickets since ive had it. its my 2nd unit. supossedly the bell STI is the best on the market.

I trusted my first V1 for almost ten years (November 1997 - Auguest 2007) before I upgraded to the newest version this summer. It has never let me down.

I hv a Beltronics Vector 965...same company that makes Escorts. Never let me down on VT rt89. People tend to follow me though....I slow down and 5 cars behind me do the same...its funny. I heard great things about Bel STI which comes with undetectable shield...but you'll have to pay a hefty price for it. It's worth it if you travel to Canada where radar detectors are prohibited. I think V1,x50,STI are great detectors and can't go wrong with either one. But I would really consider Bel V995 or Rx65 pro series pretty much the same platform as my 965 but with a little extra features including upgradable software and Radar head to head test have shown similar performance to v1 and STI.

Ebay price : RX65 pro & V995 $190-220. Considering Circuit city sells it for $300.

Yeah, technically detectors shouldn't work because by the time you detect the radar you have already been spotted. Just keep your eyes open.

Thanks to everyone for their input thus far! I have a 965 now and love it... I was considering a 995, but for the price I figured I'd just jump up to the x50 or V1

I know V1's def do better with laser than x50's...but in Indiana, laser is verrrrry rare... its almost all radar.

965 is a great model same range as rx65 and 995.

Heres an idea for you: Free upgrade buy a 995 and switch the boards its identical. I hv a 955 cover on a 965 board. after your all done return it. moolah! u have a 995

Bell STi (I use it) and it gives AMPLE warning for Radar and even for LASER.
Also you may want to check the Passport ESCORT 9500i.

Both the Sti and 9500i are the best on the market.

Have had mine for a couple of months and the filter on this thing is great. Have used an 8500 for a couple of years and my wife also has an 8500 and as good as those are they don't compare to the 8500i.
