haha...just kidding!!!! I love my '06 way too much to trade it in for an '08. This car in my driveway is a service loaner. I dropped my parents' '05 Ody in for some repairs and they tossed me the key to this. I was surprised because I figure they'd give me an '07 Accord EX-L instead.
Here's my little review of it. It had 50 miles when I picked it up this morning and has a little over 100 miles on it now. The car is definitely quieter on the highway as there is less road noise. The pickup is certainly better than my '06 but the engine sound isn't as sweet as my '06. It's thrashy, IMO. The stereo is definitely bad compared to mine but then again, my car has Infinitys up front and Boston Acoustics in the back. The SVC, on the other hand, is pretty nice as I don't have to mess with the volume knob at all. Handling is about the same as my '06, IMO, but then again, I haven't really tossed it around. Oh, one more thing, it's HUGE!!! I love this car, but there is no way I'll be getting one for myself if I do want to trade my '06 in. I'd rather get a Civic.
I showed the car to my parents this morning and the first word my mom said about the interior was "it looks cheap, especially for a $24k car." I tend to agree. My dad loved it, of course since he has driven almost every generation Accord Honda made (1982, 1990, 1998, 2006(mine)).
So that's it. My little review.
Darth Do'Urden 11-08-2007, 08:45 AM ...the first word my mom said about the interior was "it looks cheap, especially for a $24k car." I tend to agree.
What kind of high-falutin' taste do you and your mom have to say that the interior (especially on the EX) looks cheap?!? What, in that price range, comes even remotely close to looking better in terms of quality materials, craftsmanship, and fit-and-finish?
Mind you, I've been in both Altima and Camry side-by-side with the new Accord. No freakin' comparison (especially from the Altima).
edwilson13185 11-08-2007, 09:08 AM Interesting thoughts about the interior. I do think the '08's interior looks a bit busy, but craftsmanship and materials seemed excellent and good to me, respectively.
I'm still not wild about the exterior styling, but not to the point that I wouldn't buy one if I needed to get another car sooner than I expect to.
krazyfiend 11-08-2007, 09:13 AM awesome paint choice and welcome to the 8th gen club !

I have to agree with them. All those buttons in the center console gives the interior a "cheap/busy look" but it in fact it really isn't. Other than that, it's pretty nice.
Don't take it personally. It's just a opinion.
WolfpackBill 11-08-2007, 09:56 AM Hey, I'm just stating what I thought. You don't have to insult people here. Everyone has their own taste and IMO, it looked cheap...especially when you compare it to our 7 gen Accords. The button arrangement may look busy, but if you get used to know where the buttons are, they're actually very intuitive. I really like the arrangement of the buttons. And they're not far reach either. The fit-and-finish is excellent. No rattles to speak of. But it's just the materials look cheap to me.
And for the record, I DID NOT trade my '06 in. This car is only a dealer service loaner so consider this as my extended test drive.
namegoeshere 11-08-2007, 10:54 AM I'll have to side with Bill on this and say that Honda did use more cheap plastics for the interior.... such as on the steering wheel
http://www.reaction-image.net/albums/album941/IMG_8265.sized.jpg
on the shift and around the bottom portion of the shifter
http://automobiles.honda.com/images/2008/accord-sedan/interior-gallery/gal_lg15.jpg
for the trim along the doors where the armrests are
http://automobiles.honda.com/images/2008/accord-sedan/interior-gallery/gal_lg19.jpg
and a few other small places. All together, it does make the 8th Gen a bit cheaper looking.
anysia 11-08-2007, 11:11 AM it's all thanks to the fake metal.... the brushed stuff in the 7th gens didn't come off looking cheap at all. in fact i think the brushed looks better than the metal accents in the tsx even. if they removed the hookey very plastic looking fake metal, the interior would look leaps and bounds better. the rest of it looked on par with the 7th gen quality of material wise. it's just that dang cheapo looking fake metal. (and it doesn't help that the metal feels as plasticky as it looks.) that's my opinion, and yes i am ripping on honda for that little touch. they didn't need to stoop to nissan/pontiac/ford/mazda/etc level cheapo plastic like that. and it bothers me becuase it's just the ONE particular surface that doesn't cover much of the interior overall and it stands out as looking that much more cheap because of the contrast with the rest of the interior.
Peniole 11-08-2007, 11:37 AM I love my fake brushed metal, not cheap feeling at all.
namegoeshere 11-08-2007, 12:01 PM Forgot to say... take that car out to a track and see how she handles. Then come back and give us a real review.

+1 I love my 7th gen Accord Coupe's interior.

I really like the interior. The exterior, however...is extremely ugly. Maybe it's just those hideous wheels...i don't know. I guess the front looks ok, but the high body lines on the side look like it's trying to be something it's not, and the rear end is just fugly. JMHO :D
Windchimp 11-08-2007, 01:45 PM Oh Wolfy you old trickster you!
Had me going for a nanosecond there - what's this? He's traded in his baby????
I stopped into my dealer's today to pick up a crush washer (10k - oil time!) and parked next to a Sedan like your loaner. My salesman strolled over and asked me if I was interested in trading up...I gave him "a look" :paranoid: I said to him - sure, I'll leave you mine, you give me this - he told me to stick with what I have for now, but come back next week when he'll have a V6 6Spd Coupe to take for a spin...I'll have to go for a joyride I suppose!:naughty:

I agree with wolf and ngh.. it looks cheap imo, that was my impression when I test drove it (check my review here on DA http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12982 ).. and still is till this day Am I the only one that notices or thinks the area around the shifter (fake metal, bleh) looks silly? I mean it really is to small, it is out of proportion and looks real odd.
The busy buttons to me just makes it look poorly planned not cheap, the quality of the hard plastics is what looks like crap to me. Almost as cheap looking as the hard plastic interior trim of the Fusion, Mustang and Pontiac to name a few... BLEH!!!
jang859 11-08-2007, 01:58 PM I just got a coupe, am I supposed to make a thread with pics or is that getting a tired old thing by now? lol.

As humpty from the digital underground said "Do whatcha like"!!!
WolfpackBill 11-08-2007, 02:58 PM Thanks guys!! The interior garnishes reminded me of the Civic. I expected something better than that on the Accords. In the 7th gen, the "brushed aluminum" looks much much more realistic than the new ones.

Yeah the entire shifter assembly just looks like trash seriously...

Thanks for the confirmation Ben, I was starting to think I was the only one that noticed that

Pics buddy. I like me some '08. lol. :lmao:
stevencrosbie 11-08-2007, 04:11 PM Not a fan of the materials. I hate the gauges...way backwards if you ask me. The 7th Gen full electroluminescent gauges were sweet. I had to have a version of them in my truck...which is a main reason why I have the limited.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v490/bchung4457/P1010456.jpg
Sorry to steal your pic...but there's a huge panel gap on the bottom right of the center console area where it meets the dash....
I would expect that in the Ridgeline or Pilot...not their "bread and butter" Accord.
KunalPatel87 11-08-2007, 04:21 PM ^
Agreed. The new gauges aren't that exciting to look at compared to the previous generation and other current Honda's and Acura's.
Oh yea, what's up with that gap? Any other 8th gen owners have that?
namegoeshere 11-08-2007, 08:14 PM Thanks for the confirmation Ben, I was starting to think I was the only one that noticed that
Nope. You're not the only one who thinks that thing is out of place. First time I saw it, I was like "Yuck!!!" It sticks out like a sore thumb..... a butt ugly sore thumb at that.
08accordEX 11-08-2007, 08:21 PM the 08 gives me the feeling of im driving their acura brand moreso than their honda brand.
but thats just me....

It just looks to small IMO, totally out of proportion with the adjoining components
anysia 11-09-2007, 06:17 AM I love my fake brushed metal, not cheap feeling at all.
i loved the fake brushed metal in my old coupe as well. it was used well and didn't look fake or feel cheap. i'm not sure if it was the finish on it or what, but it definitely looked alot better than the plastic looking fake metal in the 8th gen.
USAFRET 11-09-2007, 09:39 AM What about the floor mats???? I'm sure they are better too.

Even the fake carbon fiber in mine looks better than the cheap-looking plastic in the 8th.
Bouncnb 11-09-2007, 03:20 PM No offense, but everyone will probably find something about any car that is not theirs that they dont like. A car could be decked out with the best of everything, but then you will have someone that says something like, "I like the carpet in mine car/version better, the pile isn't as deep, or its not deep enough."
Don't get me wrong, I think that everyone has an opinion and is entitled to express theirs. Even if it is starting to sound as though they are trying to convince themselves and everyone else that their car is better than another one.

i completely agree with you. It sounds like most 03-07 owners are saying, my car is much better than your cheap car.

Hate the gauges also. Just be grateful the rest of the interior is fine: the Camry is full of bad fitting panels etc. --->For a first year model, the accord has almost perfect fit and finish.
