Is it just me??
I drove 2 '08 Accords with the premium audio system.
They sounded GREAT.
But did anyone notice when you put the volume loud, that the bass quits going up with it? That really aggrivates me.
Only put it up in one. It was the first Accord my dealer got. So i'm hoping it has something to do with that.
Sorry if you don't understand. I didn't know how to say it.:yes:

OEM speakers just are not designed to accurately produce a full spectrum of sound (minus some of the new bose systems, etc.) The speakers can produce decent bass up to a point, then they clip. They are cheap speakers, and not designed with absolute sound quality in mind. If you want good undistorted sound (bass, or otherwise), get aftermarket equipment (speakers, amps, sub)

Do you have the JBL in you Tundra??
That [i heard] kicks too.
The Bose is pretty good for a system without woofers. [2005 Altima]

If you would like to see more bass the only way that you will get it is by upgrading the mini sub and putting a small amp to power it.

Try and listen to the Mark Levinson system in the Lexus'. Bose doesn't even come close.

I never heard the Mark Levinson. I'll have to try it out one day.

As you have stated, you will try another car as a comparison, it also may be possible that the clipping is built in with a form of amp (current) limiting to prevent clipping and blown speakers with heavy bass. Mids and highs will still increase volume as the bass is limited since it is the power consumer anyways. I would think the type of wiring would be the give away, how many wires go to each speaker that is. Internal or external crossover.

I know it's a diff subject, but I am an audio installer and must say i am actually happy with the stock system in my accord and i dont plan to change anything out. I have done thousands of high end installs with stuff like DD, RE Audio, Arc, Elemental designs, bleh you name it I've installed it. I've grown up and don't care much for bass anymore, but the crisp thump from my stock 6x9's impressed me...the highs sound clear. I don't turn it up much but I'd say it's good enough for me, and I have NEVER heard any bose/jbl systems that sounded good (to me) except maybe the 05 RL's bose setup (13 spk i think) sounded pretty good.

this is why it's nice to have a second car to play with in terms of sound staging, bass and popping amps in and out of.

no need to tear the accord apart to re-run all new wiring and install mid's, subs, amps.

As with everyone selection of an automobile........audio is subjective......what one person thinks sounds great, another will say it sounds like ass.

I don't know, but my 6x9's are anything but having a "crisp thump" to them. Highs are clear and are okay, though not as great as my dad's Corolla (yes I said it!). Because the dash tweeters are in a horrible location.

I used to have a DD subwoofer in my Civic. After selling the car, I took the box out, and I have no desire to immediately put it back in. I think I'll go with a modest 8" or a 10" sub with lower power. I'm not all for letting people hear my system from a block away.

There is a reason Lexus uses Mark Levinson as their premium audio. The sound is superb. (But don't expect absurdly boosted bass.)

I have infinity speakers in the rear deck. The covers don't fit on them. I have a Bazooka tube in the trunk. Everything else [tweeters, front speakers] are stock.

Bose has boosted bass and crisp sound. VERY GREAT SYSTEM. Imo.

I'm really impressed with how good the system sounds, especially XM. In many other cars XM always sounds inferior to CD's and even FM. In the Honda XM (to my ears) actually sounds better.

I'm not a big fan of exaggerated thumping bass that folks nowadays are trying to achieve; I find the Honda system to have plenty of tight and clean bass – just right.

For whatever reason this system seems more tuned to my tastes than other OEM systems I have owned/heard.

Everyone has their own idea of what sounds 'good' I too am an audio installer, and I have put in all kinds of stuff. I was impressed with the factory stereo in my accord (not expecting much, since it was OEM, but impressed to say the least). I also have a couple of friends that work for Bose, designing and engineering the new systems for cars. All I can say is 'premium sound' from 5-10 years ago, whether it be bose, HK, etc. is pretty junk. The main reason why they sounded like that is because car manufacturers don't want to pay for the stuff that these companies engineer. My friends tell me that they are given a concept car, and they design and build the sickest sounding stereo system you have ever heard for a 'stock' system, but then the car companies want them to cut corners, and get a cheaper version in their cars. That is why everyone thinks 'bose sux' cuz they probably heard the bose system in a 98 maxima. Lately car companies have been less stingy, and newer cars are actually starting to have nice stereos. Just take a listen to the Bose system in the new Ferrari Scaglietti! ...now if I could just convince the car makers to give me the concept cars instead of shredding them when they are done with the stereo R&D... :D

But bose does indeed **** - have you heard any of their home theatre products? the $2000 lifestyle system is awful.

I think the bose system in the 98 infinity qx4 is very good for a stock system. The stock accord doesn't come close to it. Doesn't hit very low but at least it has a really clean mid-bass.

I don't think I've ever heard a Bose system in a car that I was happy with. Some were ok, but nothing that had that WOW-factor.

The harmon-kardon systems in some BMWs are decent. By far the most impressive to date (to me) in a stock vehicle has been with Volvos using the Dynaudio systems. I need to get out and hear the newer VWs with them also just for kicks.
