Hi folks. I've lurked here for a while but this is my first post. I have a 2006 Accord with Navigation and XM and recently when I first start the car the navigation map is very slow to come up. After I press the OK button on the lawyer screen, it was usually good to go within 10 seconds or so. Now it might be up to a minute and the screen shows a partial map and I can't access the menu to look up destinations. After about a minute it seems back to normal and the GPS accuracy is ok, but it's never done this before.

Short of disconnecting the battery, is there a manual reset or similar, or should I just bring it in to the dealer?

Thanks!

Not sure but just an idea, are you in a tree crowded place or under bridges during boot up? Sounds like the navi might be trying to get a signal and its having a hard time, but i could be wrong.

If you are under these circumstances, try to go to a open area and start-up the vehicle again.

Good luck

you can check to see if there's enough satellites in your area. They may have moved some around (they did right after we got into Iraq this time).

The more satellites the faster the GPS system will get found.

You can also check for the DVD being dusty.

If there's nothing in those places, then go to your diagnosis mode, with the manual in hand. If there IS a problem is may tell you what it is.:dunno:

That's it! It was dusty. I wiped it clean and no issues anymore. I think it was just slow in loading the maps and data. I live in an area of Minnesota with few trees and obstructions. It's worked very well for going on two years, so I was pretty sure it wasn't a reception issue.

Thanks, Princess!

 glad to help!! I also figured it must be simple unless you'd done some recent wiring for some reason.

Ours went slow on a trip to Disneyland not long after 911.... they'd rearranged satellites. It didn't last too long. We only use it on the way down there to answer the "are we there yet?" We DO use it once in the LA traffic. It's a bladder saver!!:paranoid:
