Hey guys
I bought HID conversion kit from a member here. New lights.
I installed them into my car as instructed but they do not turn on.
I even took them out, put the old bulbs in and tried that and they still work, so I didn't blow any fuses!
Then I tried installing again and nothing.
This is the plug-n-play conversion kit. All the wiring appears to be hooked up correctly. They are kinda obvious because there is only one way to plug each thing in....
HELP!!
I am still working on these and need help!!!!
Thanks!!

What i would try is get a volt meter and make sure the ballis is powering up without the bulb connected. If not it might be a bad unit, hopefully not. If it is, you might have bad bulbs.
Good luck!

Thats cool. Just remember be gentle with HID stuff, its expensive delicate equipment.
I hope we can get this working for you, hate to see a new kit go bad.
EDIT: you probably already know but in case you don't, don't touch the bulbs with your fingers!!
touching the bulbs shouldn't effect the lighting aspect.. They will just bubble up and blow up in your housing... From ur oils from your hand just ruins the bulb!!
In ur case i think its the ballast!! You can check ur fuses underneath ur steering column and there are labels to tell you what is what....
Go back to the guy who sold you the unit!!
I hope everything works out for yah man!!
GOD-SPEED!

Correct me if i'm wrong

Why would he look for fuses on the car? He stated his stock lights still work fine meaning his fuses never popped.
EDIT: Jesus i can't spell today. Also about touching the bulbs, i never meant it would cause is current problem, i was just saying it so he doesn't have problems down the road.
i misread the fuse part! Please excuse me!! HAHAHA:wave:

Is it one not working or both not working? I'd say check the ballasts and see if they are operational. But it's weird that both don't work.

Did you use a separate wiring harness to tap power from the battery? If so make sure you've got the polarity right, it's easy to check if you have a volt meter.

Good point. Another thing that I just thought abouit is that you need to make sure it has enough juice to power up the ballasts. That's why people recommend having a separate wiring harness to power up the ballasts directly from the battery.
Excuse the typing. I'm still figuring how to type with my blackberry pearl.

whoa whoa whoa. not the best idea to be measuring over 23,000 volts with a voltmeter. the slightest slip and you could get majorly shocked. not to mention it'll probably burn your voltmeter.

A very good safety point! In fact I am not even sure how the output voltage of this high level from the ballast can be safely measured with conventional equipment.
Best not to try that as was suggested!

Hey guys! Thanks for all the advice with this issue, everyone's suggestions were great.
I figured out what was wrong!
I used the volt meter and there was no power running from the very first wire, which meant that power wasn't even getting to the ballast.
Turns out there was something with the plug and it was going into the factory harness but something was just not connecting.
I actually ended up going to my friend's dad who work on exotic cars, so he's very familiar with HID setups and he did something with the pins on the connector and they work great!
I was out there all day working on it, he took 10 minutes and got them to power on.
By time all that was fixed, it was night time so I had to put my stock lights back in until I get a chance to get in there and properly mount the ballasts and such...
thanks again for the help! I'll post some nice pix up around the forum once they are working!

I'm going to take a guess since you've got a 7Gen as well, did your friend's dad mention anything about the center-to-center spacing of the HID cable connector that plugs into the factory head light wiring connector, was a little bit off, such that it looks like the two connectors are plugged in, when in fact the pins from the HID connector never went into the receptable contacts of the factory headlight wiring connector?
I have the same issue with my HID kit, and read somewhere someone had a similar issue so they spread the contacts apart a bit and was able to plug the connectors in properly.
I made a pair of adaptor harness at work to temporarily connect the stuff together, and am in process of sorting this out with the distributor, I hate to think a "plug-and-play" kit requires forcing the contacts apart in order for it to work.........

actually i think it was something of that fact. he just bent the pin a hair out and everything snapped right in place no problems anymore
