Please list MSRP, Invoice, as well as your price of the car.

I live in SoCal and I'm looking at an Accord Coupe LX-S for $21,200. Dealers are telling me the car's invoice price is $20,976.

What are your numbers?? THANKS :)

The invoice and MSRP can be found at sites like Edmunds.com or carsdirect.com. As far as what you should be looking for on getting a new Accord at this time depends on how many dealers you have in your area; I would be looking at close to invoice with destination fees included. My sister purchased a 08 Accord EX auto sedan for $23100 back on Sept 20th.

I go tmy 08 ex-l from 25,300 before taxes+fee's, and the MSRP was 27,800. Thats about a 2500 difference from stick price. Don't believe sales people in anything they tell you. There job is to BS you. I sure i could have took the car for 25000 before taxes but i just gave up. I walked out on the stealership 3 times before i got the price i wanted.

Wife's '07 AV6 SE - $22,6xx (incl ext warranty & window tint) + TTL
My '07 AV6 SE - $21,6xx (incl ext warranty) + TTL

Both cars' MSRP was $24,925 + TTL. BTW, my wife's car was purchased nearly 5 months prior to mine (I got better at negotiating... or refused to pay more than I wanted to). My car was $1 over invoice. One can surely get at or slightly below invoice for a 7th Gen now since most dealers are trying to clear out the 7th Gens for the 8ths.

24000 +TTL, invoice/MSRP was 24820/27400 + 635 dest.

---

According to Edmunds, an 08 Coupe LX-S 4cyl auto has an invoice of 20536 and MSRP of 22660 (not including dest of 635). They say most people are paying full price right now.

I bought my 08' Accord EX-L Coupe V6 AT w/o Navi for $28K, $990 below MSRP+destitnation charge and I had to hassle over that. Two other dealers wouldn't budge from $28,990. I also received the highest trade-in price for my 2000 Ody from the same dealer so I figured that was the best I could do. I'm more than convinced though, that I got alot of car for the money.

Last weekend I bought a new 2007 EX-L sedan for $21,400, not including tax/lic. MSRP was $25,795, so about $4400 off. I think it was about $1500 below invoice. I really did not want the larger 2008 model and the price was right on the 2007.

The only one that comes stnd with the trunk spoiler is the Coupe it is an add on for the Sedan. Also they come with mats but some folks purchase the all weather mats. I can see that they would come in real handy if you lived in a cold climate with snow.

Anyway, I paid $27,289 OTD for my 08 EX-L. I got them to throw in the spoiler, trunk tray, splash guards, all season floor mats, moonroof visor and wheel locks. MSRP for these options was $27,568 and that didn't include installing the spoiler or tax, title or tag. So I think I done good. :)

Once you buy, ignore price threads, you’ll make yourself nuts as prices only go down as a new model gets less new

+1

I really hate looking at these price threads (once you have already purchased your car) because there are so many variable factors that determine price i.e where your located, the person/dealership your dealing with, the TRIM of car your looking to buy, the availability (demand vs production) and the time you are buying it etc....

I didn't really look into leasing after Honda Finance surprisingly undercut my purdue credit union's APR offer on picking up my car... For someone being 25 (now 26) ...I found getting 4.67% very appealing! (I thought 6 or 7% would even be acceptable with how things are nowadays in the economy and the fact that coupes were hot off the presses at 10/25/07)...

.... however, with that rate, I am paying the coupe off in 42 months and actually got ahead of my pymt's so far (Christmas bonus, birthday cash) with a goal of being paid off in 38 months, hopefully.

Damn...glad to here you got a good deal at Crown. Good job.

They didn't want to deal much with me. I ended up getting my V6 at my hometown PA dealer for less than what Crown was offering me a 4cyl.

Did you buy recently? Maybe they didn't want to negotiate with me because the model was still hard to come by in the fall. :dunno:

It's certainly possible; I just took delivery two days ago. I actually went to Auto Park Honda in Cary first, then took that price to Crown to give them the opportunity to match it.

On a related note, I took my trade to CarMax for appraisal so I'd have some leverage. Auto Park's offer on the trade was $800 lower, while Crown beat it by $100. Of course, I didn't discuss any of that before I got the best actual price for the car. Consumer Reports has taught me well. :D

I was kind of whatevers about the pinstripe at first, but it's kind of growing on me. I dunno. I like it.

What mods have you got on your coupe, ycart? The aero kit looks pretty sick on the 08's. Pretty subtle, but there's a definite difference in appearance.

All of the pinstripes I've seen have been stickers. I always specifically ask to have them removed, and all they do is peel them off and clean the residue.

I got my 08 accord EX auto sedan last week with pro package (wheel locks, trunk tray, and mud guards). I got it for 23,800 OTD. Yes people, OTD means OUT THE DOOR!!

I see some posters saying I got this for 25,000 OTD + Tax and license. Might as well say 27,000 OTD.

anyway, pretty good deal for me. I wanted to shoot for 23,000 with no pro package but they didn't go for it.

I paid $27,800 before financing for my 08 EXL V6 6spd Coupe Non-Navi back in November around when they first came out. Sticker was like $30,000 and change. I haggled with them a little but in the end they gave me what I wanted because of a previous bad experience I had with a Used car purchase earlier in the year for my wife.

Ordered my EX-L/V6/AT/Navi for 2% over invoice. (comes to just over $500 from invoice) Had three dealers willing to sell it to me at this price. Ordered it from the one that offers 2 years of oil changes plus a car wash. Will also be purchasing the 8yr/100K miles/$0 extended warranty for the matched price of $895 found on line. Decided to purchase the accessories that I wanted and install them myself. (I enjoy this kind of work) It will cut the cost of the dealer installed accessories by more than half!

No trade in, (I will sell my old car myself) no dealer financing, (loan through C.U. at 5.5%) and no add-ons while visiting with the finance guy you have to sit with while they pitch scratch insurance, under coating, paint protection, ...etc.

Accord should arrive in early March with only the factory to the lot, and dealer prep miles on it. Build date was the week of Feb 15th!

Planning on applying double stripe chrome pin-striping, backup camera and sensor, wing, all weather floor and trunk mats, mud guards, chrome door pillars, HID, and a concealed radar/laser detector.

Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and their wealth of knowledge. I figure it saved me more than $6000!

I'm paying $28,800 (inc. freight but before fees- a tad north of $30K OTD) for an EXLV6 auto/NAV sedan in Alabaster Silver/Gray leather. I know it's not the greatest price but I did get a trunk tray and installed splash guards at no extra charge. Availability is really tight in my area so I was satisfied with saving a couple grand.

Fisher was one of my favorite to deal with. Very up front and honest and willing to work with me. I would have purchased from them unfortunately they didn't have the car and Markley Motors in Fort Collins matched the best price I found and they are local and have a 7 year/100K extra warranty free. Very painless process. Now comes the painfull process of waiting. :(

I think you should be able to find a dealer that can do that. Ultimately it depends on what your taxes are and area availability. Start shopping and dont believe for a second when a dealer says they cant do something. Coming from 6 years of auto sales I know very well what dealers are able to do.

Just took delivery my new '08 Belize Blue/black Accord Coupe EX-L V6 w/o Nav last Fri. 02/22. After a full month of haggling and negotiating with 5 dealers in the Miami area I was able to get my new baby for Invoice ($26,277.) plus $400, for a TOTAL of $26,677 (+ tax & tag fees of course). I paid NO "second sticker" nonsense like dealer fees, documentation fees and a crazy "limited availabilty fee" they had listed. I had to "play" 3 of the dealers against each other. 2 dealers would not budge from MSRP ($28,945) and would only discount/remove the dealer fees.

One other tip. The dealership is allowing me to put up to $3k on my credit card when I purchase the Accord. There are 2 honda dealers in my immediate area, one of them quoted me $28,988 ($90ish above the edmunds TMV for an EX-L V6 Auto w/ Navi )

I went to the other dealership this morning (Friday) and gave them that price and asked if they could beat it. I was also trading in a 1999 jeep Cherokee classic, which I wanted to get a good value on.

They gave me $28,888 as the price for the car and offered me $3,000 in trade for my Jeep. Given that the A/C doesn't work, and one power window and doorlock don't always work and there was minor body damage, $3,000 was a fair price to me., with the tax benefit on the new car, it came to be close to the $3,500 I wanted to sell the car for and was much less hassle.

I got a 2008 Accord Sedan EX-L V6 w/ Navigation
Color is Nighthawk Black Pearl w/ black leather interior

Sticker price was- $30,895
Sale price was $28,888 - $3,000 trade, so pre-tax/tag was $25,888

My OTD price was $27,883.75

I paid about $300 more than I planned to, but the process was very easy and no hassle. None of the bait and switch crap that the Nissan dealer tried to pull.

Dealer was Proctor Honda in Tallahassee, FL

That is...a VERY nice price. I hope your buying experience was as nice as the price you paid. All too often those who paid the least are the least happy with their overall experience--both during and well after the sale.

Buying experience was a breeze and I'm loving the car, it was nice to have a family member that worked at the dealership ;) I've known I was going to get the 2008 Accord since they came out, just had to wait until I could work the best deal.

thanks. OTD should have been $27,443, but i wasnt about to correct them. when they messed up the tax (paperwork said 7%, but should be 6%), they were supposed to adjust the selling price to keep the OTD price the same. instead, they kept the selling price the same and lowered the tax.

because of the dealer trade, my car came with 310 miles on it. its 305 miles from dealer to dealer, so i guess its a good thing it only had a few miles on it when it reached the original dealer. the way i see it, the $256 i saved was to make up for the 310 miles.

Please list MSRP, Invoice, as well as your price of the car.

I live in SoCal and I'm looking at an Accord Coupe LX-S for $21,200. Dealers are telling me the car's invoice price is $20,976.

What are your numbers?? THANKS :)

I know, I'm late coming in on this one, but....
According to Edmunds the MSRP on a LX-S manual coupe is 21,860 and invoice is 19,813, a $2047 difference. So that dealership obviously didn't show you the invoice with only a $233 difference between invoice and msrp.

Not necessarily. I buy most of my cars out of state, and register them in my state (TX). Out the door is exactly what you paid for the car, excluding taxes. Remember most dealers tack on charges like prep, doc fee, and other crap like that. I paid $28,200 for my 6MT/Navi +TTL.

Out the door excluding TTL is the ONLY way to compare apples to apples, as each state and city have their own fees, and sometimes they vary widely. Later.

how much should the "fair" price be?

2008 Accord LX-S coupe w/ automatic-transmission
MSRP: $23,330
Invoice: $21,206

You *should* be able to get it for a few hundred bucks below invoice. Avoid dealer add-ons such as dealer-installed accessories (unless they are thrown in as 'freebies', paint/finish-protection package, extended warranty, etc'. . .

out the door? This can only be determined by your location (California), as tax/title/licensing fees vary from state-to-state; also each dealership has it's own contract fees, paperwork costs, etc'.

So...

- discounted car price
- dealership fee(s) for paperwork/contract, etc'
- CA vehicle (regional) sales tax
- CA vehicle titling fee
- CA vehicle state registration fee

thanks for the great infoI'd say aim even lower! I *think* a great deal woulld be ~$500 under invoice, which is very much attainable.

Use this for reference...

My 2008 Accord LX sedan w/ automatic transmission (late April, early April 2008):

MSRP: $21,795
Invoice: $19,816
My negotiated price: $19,273 (all done through internet sales manager via emails/phone-calls)

(I could've save another ~$200 if I would've gone out-of-state)

Try to target/approach Honda dealerships that are high-volume... they price models that they've had for a while quite aggressively, regardless of color/trim!

Thank you all for convincing me to get an 08 Accord Coupe.

Earlier this week I picked my 08 PMM Coupe [EX-L V6 w/ Nav] for 28,200 before ttl, etc. Also grabbed a 08 Galaxy Gray Civic LX for 17k at the same time. After searching for weeks all over the Chicago area for better deals and availability, I was more than happy to close the deals at the aforementioned prices. Also, the Coupe only had 7 miles on it before my test drive - it was still wrapped in the plastic as it was delivered the same day. I know I could have done a little better but the whole process was so simple it didn't bother me one bit. Other dealers had me drive 40+ miles only to find out the cars weren't on the lot, etc. This guy was very straightforward and didn't mess around one bit.

Needless to say, I couldn't be happier that my 03 Corolla w/ 156k miles was totalled Memorial Day weekend.

Roughly 90% of that mileage was city driving. I must say the Toyota held up much better than I could have ever imagined. Not once did I have to bring it to a dealer or shop for repairs. Wow, thanks for that breakdown. You just made my day. I guess I didn't do too bad after all. I did all my homework on Edmunds before going to the dealer, and knew that the TMV in my area was 22,900, so I figured I was right there with all the DIOs.

One more thing to add in there is the labor cost of installing the items, especially the Hansfreelink and the wing spoiler. The prices you listed are just the price for the item itself. I forgot to mention a painted pinstripe and wheel locks as well (didn't want to get laughed at lol). The tint was actually $350 dealer cost as well (shipped in from Texas, carbon based, installed the next day after purchase).

Well brand new cars lose about 20-25% of their value as soon as you drive them off the lot, so I would say you got a decent deal as well.

I got mine about a month ago for $26,200. It worked out to about $28,200 after taxes and fees. The dealer told me invoice was $25,570 or so.

Well, *usually* if you tell the dealer that I want accessories 'x/y/z' only if they install it for free, they will oblige w/ a smile.

Generally, '08 Accord EX sedans can be had for $500-$750 below invoice.

Also, the discounted prices I posted for the accessories/options is from an online Honda OEM parts dealer, not what the dealer ultimately charges the customer. There is a service/report specific for a make/model that you can purchase from Consumer Reports that outlines what invoice/cost is for OEM accessories/options. I believe it costs about $10-$15.

All-in-all, I believe you got a fair deal. Not great/excellent, perhaps average-to-good. This is just my *personal* observation from a far.

I recall you stating the proximity/closeness of the dealership and not spending a lot of time shopping around. Therefore, time saved is money spent.

What you saved in time, you paid towards your acquiring your car. A logical trade-off, I say!

Thanks for the info. I did not know they could be had so low. All the *official* sites I visited showed anywhere from 22,900 to 23,750 for true market value. I read all the forums of people getting incredible deals, but in different areas of the country. The market in your area plays a large factor in pricing, I believe.

This is my first car purchase of any kind, new or used. I think I did OK. It's comforting to know I did "average to good" on the deal. That's really all I ask for. I have been experiencing a little buyers remorse in reading what some other people paid, and in wishing I had more strongly considered the EX-L. You live and learn. It's always my luck that I find sites like this AFTER I have already made an irreversible decision! :headbash:

In the end I got a really nice car at a decent price. It will hold its value, and in 3-5 years I will try again at making a killer deal with all that I have learned.

I got the New Accord 08 I4 AT LX-P for $22,240 OTD (including 8% NY Tax)... Is this a good deal? I kind of regret not getting the EX. Can someone convince me that the LX-P was the right decision for me? (I didn't really care for the sunroof or the 190hp). BTW I think that the warranty and lojack is a waste of money. The dealer tried really hard to push those things onto me.

got my ex-l i-4 no navi for 29706 OTD including lojack and spoiler+fogs+interior illumination, 25788 before TTL+lojack.

was looking over my paperwork and noticed this.. payments made on your behalf to public officials for official fees.. 493$. Did i get scammed by my dealer? :(

I would have to say looking at that price OTD that you got scammed by the dealer. That price looks really high for a four banger even with the options.

ProMod, you did just fine for your 1st new-car purchase! You were at invoice or just slightly below, which is well below MSRP (sticker-price). You got some desired options/accessories which personalize your new Accord to your tastes, and have the manufacturer's warranty on them (vs. getting after-market or getting them elsewhere).

IMHO, poor deals/transactions are those which are at or above MSRP, or those w/ ridiculous options/accessories (ie. paint/fabric protection, undercoating, custom-interior, A/V upgrades, entertainment/travel packages, etc').

And yes, region/location plays a part in finding the best deal (more competition, increased availability, etc'). Also, for the absolute best deal: high-volume dealerships are the ones to pursue... their pricing is based on how long they've had inventory (identical cars of the same trim/color/specs' can differ in prices based on how long they've sat on the lot).

I got the New Accord 08 I4 AT LX-P for $22,240 OTD (including 8% NY Tax)... Is this a good deal?O.k., so let's take a look...

For reference:

'08 Accord LX-P sedan w/ automatic-transmission
MSRP: $22,830
Invoice: $20,755

It's important to know what you negotiated the actual discounted price to be prior to TTL.

Likely scenario:

Negotiated/discounted price: $20,255 (Invoice - $500)
TTL (NY 8% tax, state reg', paperwork/doc'-fee): $1985
Out-the-door: $22,240

Anyways, you got a great deal from my perspective. You paid a few hundred dollars below invoice, didn't choose to get any options/accessories (increases chances of being gouged by the dealer).

Don't regret not getting the EX. I was in the same situation as you. All I wanted was a leather interior, period. And I got the dealer to do that for me for some more money (w/ 5yr warranty, as well).

I didn't care for the sunroof, heated-seats/mirrors, alloy-wheels (I have plans to get after-market JDM ones soon anyways), 190hp (177hp felt 95% the same), chrome exhaust-tip (I got one from Advance Auto Parts, lol), 260watt premium sound-system (160watt is good enough as-is), etc'.

However, what I regret not having in my LX is a driver's power-seat & leather-covered steering-wheel...

Thanks for the re-assuring words once again. This has really helped put my restless mind at ease. I am a research-obsessed person, but for some reason I feel like I didn't research properly before buying the vehicle (though I really did) and was somewhat intimidated by the whole process. I still made out Ok, and I think the feeling comes from the large sum of money I signed my name to! First major purchase jitters I guess.

You mention getting leather added by the dealer...how did you manage this? What were the stipulations? Are they just replacing the factory cloth covers with leather? Or is there more to it? Because honestly, I don't want/need heated seats, XM radio, "premium" stereo (will be adding aftermarket sub and amp soon), auto A/C (I hate those things!), auto headlights, or a temp sensor. I do, however, long for gray leather sometimes. Just curious as to what your deal was on this option.

Thanks again!

You mention getting leather added by the dealer...how did you manage this? What were the stipulations? Are they just replacing the factory cloth covers with leather? Or is there more to it?My dealer offered a complete leather-interior swap (including front/rear seats, door-panels, center arm-rest, headrests, etc') for $1099/installed.

They have a local custom-shop that does interior/exterior work for them. It was done in a little over a day (overall 3-4 days, as it took some time for the '08 Accord specific leather-kit to arrive). You can acquire an average-quality after-market '08 Accord sedan-specific leather kit for $575-$675 +s/h (use the search to find a post I made about many offerings), but installation is key. It's easily a 4-6hr job for a professional; I wanted an OEM look, so I didn't choose to take any shortcuts. The job done was A-1, in my book. As aforementioned, I also got a 5 year warranty.

The color I chose was "dark graphite" which is a very close match to the door-trim/upper-dash/carpets and a nice contrast to the seat-base, lower-dash, door-panels (I have Polished Metal Metallic exterior, gray interior). Dark-graphite is just a shade or two below black.

The leather-kit was from www.katzkin.com (they don't sell to private parties, only dealers/custom-shops). It feels better than the Mercedes and Lexus leather interiors that I've had in the past. Very comparable to the newer Lexus semi-aniline leather now available in certain models.

On a 0-10 scale of overall satisfaction w/ the leather-interior conversion, I'm at an 11!

Very cool. You got leather, but none of the other stuff you didn't want, and saved thousands over the EX-L. I would consider the same approach, but at this point, I will have too much money sunk in the car to justify it. I will probably end up getting the leather wheel you and I have been looking at, and call it a day. I underestimated the importance of a nice feeling wheel more than anything!

Thank you Osiris_x11 for your wonderful post.
Here's how it went for the dealer for me:
They asked me what I really wanted on my car. I said a lip spoiler. Then when we talked about price he said they could give me the car for:
21,288
+ ~750 Dealer Prep
+ ~700 Destination Charge
-----------
22,738 and they'll throw in the spoiler(~700) for FREE! lol

I said no deal. Dealer prep?... com'on now. My uncle printed the prices for the Accord 08 from Consumer reports. Circled the car and it's invoice price and said that I wanted $500 below it or it's no deal(I decided not getting the spoiler). The salesperson went to ask the manager and I got my new car =) actually afterwards I spent like 2-3 hours in the finance room. They're the one who try to rip you off the most because after you have a set price on your car, you put your guard down and now they're throwin lo jacks, warranties and high monthly payments on you.

I got a new Accord Coupe EX 5MT for 22k even (plus TTL) as of Friday, which I guess is a pretty good deal considering invoice is around 24k. It rolls off the truck tomorrow, so I'm pretty excited.

I just registered to these forums because it seems like there's a lot more 8th gen accord guys here than other places.

I don't think this deserves a separate thread, but I ordered a LiquidAux adapter for my iPhone ( http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-LiquidAUX-Auxiliary-Remote-iPhone/dp/B0011UK2HE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1215495615&sr=1-1 ).

Any must-do mods for the Accord? I'll likely get foglights and tint the windows at the dealership tomorrow. 20-25% tint all around most likely. Any advice before I leave the dealership?

Thanks!

I got a new Accord Coupe EX 5MT for 22k even (plus TTL) as of Friday, which I guess is a pretty good deal considering invoice is around 24k...You got a fair decent price for a really nice car! However, here is the 'real' story...

For reference:

'08 Accord EX coupe w/ manual-transmission
MSRP: $23,830
Invoice: $21,658
Negotiated/discounted price: $22,000

I don't follow the '08 Accord coupe market much, so I'm not really sure what they are going for brand-new. But, the '08 Accord sedans generally go for $500-$750 below invoice.

I noticed that you are in Houston, Texas.
