View Full Version : A Few Random Pictures...
ricam78 12-06-2007, 07:05 AM Well I got a new Nikon D40 on Monday and finally had a chance to take a picture of the car with it (it was dirty until yesterday). Anyway, I took a bunch of random shots and liked these 2.
Feel free to post any random shots of your car.
stevencrosbie 12-06-2007, 07:18 AM Man...I need a nice digi cam. Good pictures. I like your sig picture.

Well I just bought it Certified in August and since then I have been VERY LUCKY (knock on wood). My last vehicle was a white 2002 Altima and I had tht when I lived in Louisiana. I travelled daily from Mandeville, across the Causeway bridge (24 miles) and down river road into uptwon which overall DESTROYED my hood. Another thing is I take the Pilot on all long interstate road trips, bc I dont want to experience my first windshield or hood catastrophe. Thanks for the comments though. Oh, mileage is at 31K.
AS for the NIKON, I love it. I had a lot of issue deciding between the Canon Rebel XT and the D40. I came to the conclusion that the megapixel difference is no big deal esp to me. The Nikon has a lot easier user interface and has an the option for Auto ISO feature that the Canon does not which for a newb like me was VERY important. In either case, the main kicker was how the Nikon felt in my hands compared to the Canon. My last digi which I am shipping out otday to the ebay winner was a Canon S2 IS which was a great camera, I just missed a lot of shots of my kid with it since it had to autofocus before it took the picture.
AAcord 12-06-2007, 08:00 AM I'll second that, Accordlover !!
88AccordLX-i 12-06-2007, 08:36 AM Those are very nice pics! I love the color of your Accord.
I wish you many more miles with no rock-chips.

i have friends who do that commute daily. they say it's not too bad...some even say it's relaxing. i just don't think i could handle it during severe fog, when the causeway police do the convoy thing.
that said, if i do purchase a home here, it will be on the northshore. so i might end up commuting like you :)

Just in case you are wondering, the roads haven't improved any down here :D

The commute was VERY relaxing. You had a lot of time to plan on the way to work and wind down on the way home.
As far as the roads go, trust me I know. We are back there atleast twice a month and I am still just as concerned. One area that amazes me is how bad the Bonnabel and Causeway exit off of I-10 are. I think there is a storm drain on the passenger side of that exit going to Bannabel that you cannot miss due to the cement walls that sticks up about 6-8 inches above the road.
Accordlover 12-06-2007, 01:51 PM The Woodlands? Like near Houston?
If that's the area you're talking about, I absolutely love it. Such a beautiful place that has almost everything very near. You must love it out there.
There are only a few places I'd live in or around Houston; The Heights (where I am now), The Woodlands, or Montrose.
Louisiana roads suck! Though I think the freeways are better than Texas ones. :dunno:

Yup. North of Houston in The Woodlands (The bubble as its called). Moved here with my company and picked that area since it was a great area to raise a family. The freeways here do suck. Mainly becasue they are always working on them, which I guess could be considered progress if you want to look at it that way.

"paved" is such a harsh term to use in describing Louisiana roads.
:D

man that sucks, The ancient roman empire had better roads than that:lmao:
stiller fan 12-06-2007, 05:27 PM gee, that looks like the turnpike in PA.....
88AccordLX-i 12-07-2007, 06:04 AM Or Interstate 80!
stiller fan 12-07-2007, 11:01 AM the turnpike is worse.... trust me. i have been on both roads..... :stupid:
88AccordLX-i 12-07-2007, 11:44 AM Your right, but I don't normally drive on the turnpike, thankfully. But after riding on I-80 in a school bus for a LONG time, I have a special hatred for that road.

Hahahaha. Some of the streets downtown look just like that. Except for the grass on the side. Picture that road, but instead of grass, imagine that there is piss and vomit all over the place.
:D

Ahhh....home sweet home.
Bowzer 12-07-2007, 02:58 PM You guys are making me homesick for when I worked and played in New Orleans!
Something else in common, my office is in The Woodlands nowadays...and it's always nice, you're right.
Loserana roads: they kind of just "float" the roads on the marshy ground for as long as possible...then after a couple of years, time to start all over.
Texas Roads: The state roads are fine...it's this glorious Houston growth thing I think we all just "love". Construction = life in the big city.

This is the reason I am so glad I dont have to take any Interstates to work. I only take a single Farm-to-Market (FM) road. They dont do much on those (well they widen them, but thats never a lane closure/traffic issue).
