We have a desktop, a laptop & the Garmin Q thing..... for his work. He also uses 2 other computers there not counting ones in the cars.

Sure comes in handy to have more than one on weekends!!:D

Like right now......he's looking for some sort of bateries & I can still be online!:)


We're cable internet, used to be dial up a long time ago........... too slow. Never tried DSL though.

Two Dells in the same room. 2 Dell PDA's .
1 Compaq in the basement.. not hooked up.

I'm finally down to one computer. I still have the old monitor from my previous computer. I had 2, 3, even 4 at times that I would use to piece together a computer to keep it going. I bought a new one a few months ago.

A 386/16mhz (old DEC box- really was a Tandy box- before we made our own)

A 486/66mhz (old DEC box-our own)

An AMD 1.2ghz (Compaq box- after they bought us).


They all still work. The 486 used to be a triple boot machine. DOS, Win95, WinNt all on one 400MB drive. Now it just has Win98SE.
I'm thinking about making it an OBD2 scanner/monitor.

Just curious, anyone here ever heard of PDP8, PDP11, VAX/VMS or Alpha computer architectures?

VAX/VMS is an old DEC (Digital Equipment Corp) architecture retired 10 - 15 years ago....

i have 1 at home and i use about 4 at work depending on where i am.

one at work- a pentium 3 which i am apparently frying my hard drive on..

and 2 at home-an athlon 64 which is up and running
and a pentium 1 which barely runs and therefore is not hooked up at all.. ;)

Main Computer: Dell Inspiron 8500

Old Computer: Compaq Presario 2256 (Probably won't last too much longer.)


I also have a Dell at work. Not sure of which one. They switch it out on me every now and again, so I don't keep track anymore.



[EDIT: I forgot to add my old Compudyne laptop - 486DX w/ 8megs of RAM and running DOS 5.0 and Win 3.1. Still runs fine - believe it or not. I bought it back in 1992.]
