I have a 2004 Accord (EX 4 cyl) which runs great. Had no major issues (except brake judder) under warranty. Now at 40 K miles showing an slight oil leak. It is near or above the oil filter. I thought it was becos of dealer not tightening oil filter properly. Got that checked out.
Dealer says it could be oil pressure sensor or some solenoid :dunno: but not loose oil filter !!

I don't think this is common for Honda. Any way what you guys think ? Any body had similar issue? How much could be bill (approximate)? I am planning to get it done at the dealer. He is planning to do the dye test to find the exact source of the leak.

I am DIY guy for small things. But with 10 F degree weather and tight access to oil pressure sensor it is not worth it.

I am really looking for your opinion. :paranoid:

THE most common is a filter that when it's replaced the old gasket stuck.... so it's now double gasket-ed. It happens way too much. Sometimes they don't leak right at first, then do later. Sometimes they loosen & leak.

I'd think if it were the sensor... the light would come on...:dunno: The oil pressure sensor is ABOVE the filter.... so if there's oil on TOP of the filter, then I guess it wouldn't be the filter itself.

In that area is also the oil feed pipe.

I happend to use emergency jack and raise my car. I see the oil above the filter. If I am looking from behind the engine it is leaking slightly on upper right hand side of the filter.

I complained to the dealer after the oil change done at the dealer. They checked and said it is not the filter. They are suggesting dye check to locate the source of oil leak.

I am checking my options before I take the dive. I am pissed :thumbsdow to see this happening to accord at just 40k miles.

It is happening right after warranty expired :paranoid:

I changed my oil tonight and there was oil all over the back part of the engine. It looks like the gasket started failing on the filter. There is oil above and below filter so airflow has a role. It really could be your filter.

If it hasn't been wrecked or curbed WAY hard, then your best bet is to have the dye test done. Actually either way.... since you'd still need to know where it's coming from. You wouldn't want parts replaced on opinion. The dye is a great way to find out. They put some in & sometimes they check it later that day or sometimes you take it home. To check it they look at the car with a light & goggles... just like for blood on CSI!!:D

A hard impact can jolt an engine hard enough to crack it & make it leak too.:paranoid:
