November 2004

Honda confirmed in a news release that its all-new 4-door, 4WD truck will go on sale nationwide in spring 2005 as a 2006 model.

The truck will be named "Ridgeline," Honda announced at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturer's Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, where it displayed an updated concept version of the vehicle. The production Ridgeline will make its debut at the 2005 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next January.

The Ridgeline uses a closed-box frame combined with unibody construction and carries a five-foot cargo box with "minimal wheel arch intrusion" to carry a wide variety of cargo, Honda said. Inside, the Ridgeline features a five-passenger interior.

Hard parts include a four-wheel independent suspension and a 3.5-liter, V-6 engine and 5-speed automatic transmission with a fully automatic 4-wheel-drive system. Standard features include 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, side curtain airbags and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control.

Funny this came up now... my grandson was just on the Honda site & I saw that they'd finnally named their SUT!

He was "building" various Hondas...

He needs to get about 40K in his piggy bank for his taste with the options!:D He keeps claiming he's gonna buy a new Ody touring for his mom..... ah, how sweet!

I'm not sold on it yet. But, I really haven't seen enough to be sure. I am interested to see one up close when that time comes.

To me, a real truck would have a ladder frame chassis and rwd. But since Honda has no experience there...

They've had pickups for a long time in Japan, I guess they like them to be more of a passenger vehicle with a cargo bed....:dunno:

Sorry Honda but I HATE this thing to the max. If I had to buy a light duty truck, it would be any one of the Big 3. For a heavy duty truck, Ford Super Duty for sure.
