so, i got a multi-meter, and i checked all the wires for the dome light. none of them showed any voltage. i even spliced each of them, and none of htem work. i wrapped each wire up in electrical tape afterwards of course, but does anyone have any idea on what's goin on? i'm pretty confused and frustrated. i also found out my stupid switchblade key doesn't work for 08 coupes >=[

The only place I have ever hard-wired a radar detector is at the fuse box.

That would be my suggestion as well. If you are mounting the radar detector up high then I would tuck the wires under the headliner and run it down the A pillar which you should be able to push the wires behind without removing it. Then straight down to the fuse box.

best way to hard wire a radar in my opinion
also, did you make sure to leave the door open or something, so that the dome light would be SWITCHED on

I used a clean Popsicle stick to lift the trim and just pushed the wire under...works great. My kids do crafts on a regular basis so I have them available all the time.

The gen 7 a pillar is really easy to take off. Not sure about the 8th. Princess might be able to tell you. I ran mine off the back of the cig lighter with some taps after I cut the power line about 5 inches long.

you dont necessarily want to take off the pillar (remember theres an airbag behind that...if you know what your doing, have at it, but if not, be aware of the risks)
just do as brickman said and push it into the side just enough so its out of sight

I'm interested in hardwiring my new Garmin GPS (which should be the same principles as this radar detector). Should I go directly to the fuse box and use mini-fuse taps or should I just use taps directly on the wires coming off the back of the cig outlet? What would be the pros/cons?
