Just curious...is there an Acura on the new '08 Accord platform? Or is one coming out soon?
I beleive the 7th generation had "crossover" use of platform(s) between Accord and Acura...what about the new 8th generation platform?
Just curious...Tom R
I would presume the next TL will still use the Accord platform. Here's hoping they actually differentiate it a bit better than the last time.

What do you mean? The 7th gen Accord and current TL (same platform) seemed pretty well differentiated to me. The TL had a more aggressive design (sportier) and more powerful engine options (3.2L 258 HP/233 ft-lbs or 3.5L 286 HP/256 ft-lbs vs. 3.0L 244 HP/211 ft-lbs).
Since the 8th gen Accord now is more powerful than the TL, I'd expect the next TL to be bumped up even more. Maybe it'll get a tuned RL engine and SH-AWD... with the RL eventually getting a V8.

So it seems there WILL be an Acura on the new '08 Accord platform...any introduction date yet?
I would imagine that the '08 Acura would be hurting a bit in comparison to the new platform '08 Accord.
I fear (or is it hope?) that they may come out with a sportier version of the '08 Accord sedan w/ a 6 spd manual and in bright red paint :)...our Basque Red Pearl '08 is my wife's first non-red (bright red) car since early 80s.
Oh well...I am too practical and cheap to trade much before it is ten years old and had 200K miles :)

The TSX is on accord too. The Accord uses a world platform. The Honda Pilot used a derivative as well if i recall correctly. Kinda like the CRV was loosely bases on Civic Platform.

Even Honda knows their customers cross shopped these two cars. They really weren't differentiated all that well. Read pratically any forum like edmunds.com where there are actual consumer based users (rather than the more enthusiast based consumers of vtec.net, for example) and the message is pretty clear. I also spoke to someone at Honda while working on another project about this and they said the entire Acura lineup needed to be differentiated better. That in particular, I couldn't agree with more.
For now, the RL sticks with it's V6 (either 3.5L or 3.7L). The TL is rumored to get both engine choices, which I would think the latter of which goes to the RL as well.

The rumored intro date for the TSX is in May. If this is true, I would presume, they MAY show something at NYIAS, since it's before then. I truly have no clue, so this is of course speculation based on the rumored date, but I think it makes sense.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't one based on the Accord. In Canada Acura has a car based on the Civic. Looks just like one except for some minor changes..like tailamps, headlights, grille, nicer interior. All body panels seem to be the same though.
