My 08 Accord sedan makes a sharp plastic on plastic sound coming from the upper part of the dash on the passenger side every once in a while, and it doesn't have to be from an extremely bumpy road, a sharp expansion joint on a smooth street can cause it. From the drivers seat it sounds like it's near the base of the windshield.

Before I take it to the dealer and try to describe one of those infamous "random" interior noises that they most likely won't find but will still be there, does any one have any thoughts or suggestions??

Aside from that, the interior is as tight as a bank vault so this noise is especially bothersome.

I thought I had a hearing problem when I heard that noise

I have that too on my 08 coupe.

In for servicing....sigh...

its cold here in ohio.

even right after I bought the coupe 3 months ago that sharp SNAP plastic on plastic faultline/earthquake sound happens, as well as rattles. they are not the same as each other. the snap sound happens less often now, guess u gotta let those parts wear against each other...

I keep hearing a sound that I can best describe as what I used to hear when the casette player in my previous car changed from one side to the other.

I have the same problem, but only when the car is kept in the cold. from my garage, it's fine so I don't think we will have thi problem in the summer, but so annoying on a brand new car.

I heard the glove box rattle a couple of times, *solution* Iwrapped my abbreviated owners manual (on the metal curly spine) and insurance/registration info in a micro fiber , since I closed the glove box doing that, no plastic or rattles from the dash.

Next rattle was from the arm rest area...ended up being my oakley carbon fiber sunglass holder. Wrapped with a MF, done. Put my Ipod sitting in there, into a cheaper beer coozy that wraps right around it :). No rattles for about a month from there.

The only *design* plastic rattles from the factory ive had were the sub woofer, rear tail light rattle when bass was hitting (some cardboard shims and a little padding and I haven't heard that since)

&

passenger recline/incline seat lever... tap on the outside of it, towards the seat... mine was awfully close in tolerance and when really bumpy terrain id hear the plastic slap, drove me crazy for about 10 min's...isolated it, tested it out while parked at my apt and I went into my junk drawer for these flat clear rubber/plastic tabs meant for interior corners on kitchen shelves or home drawers so slamming is dampened and the wood sees no severe *slap* lol.... I removed adhesive from two and slid them in between the lever and seat holding plastic.... no interference and no plastic slap since. I guess slimline felt would work just as well.

It's not the glove box; it's the passenger air bag door/panel. I had my son drive the car over roads that I knew would cause the sound and on the first pass I just listened real close to that area of the dash and I could definitely place the sound. So we turned around and retraced our path only this time I placed my hand on the air bag panel/door and applied a little pressure. The noise NEVER re-occurred.

I narrowed it down to where the bottom of the dash meets the top of the air bag door/panel.

I won't mess with that, I guess it's time to visit the dealer.

My creaking goes away when you leave the glovebox door open.

I had a rattle from the rear shelf. I also heard one from the front area. I took it in to the dealer and they fixed both. It turns out the one in front was coming from the moonroof. It's kind of a pain to take it in, but definitely worth it.

My dealer told me that some of the cars they received from the Texas plant had noise/vibration issues with the dashboard. They had to "tighten" them up what ever that means. I guess the factory missed some things before they left the building.
