Anyone like the OEM shift knob on their Accords? I didn't. After looking around, I decided to go with the Skunk2 Billet shift knob(5SPD). That sucker has some weight on it! But Loving it so far!

FYI, there isnt anything holding up the shift booth. Its just props itself up like that by itself. It doesnt go down unless I pull it down. Eventually, I get some zip tie to hold it up more securely but for now, it works.

Just hope you don't mind when that hunk of metal gets sizzling hot during the Texas summer heat!
And since it's metal, it will take a while to dissipate the heat.
As well, I know I hated the icy cold sensation in the winter time here too, but Texas doesn't get too cold so this shouldn't be a problem for you.

I use an Oakley sunglasses bag on the knob when I get out in the summer time. If it's too hot to the touch then the bag is a suitable barrier.
I always wear leather gloves in the winter time because I do NOT like my hands cold in general.
Both problems solved!
TS--your Skunk2 knob looks real nice, but I'd see about changing out that ring at the top of the shift boot if for no other reason than it's the wrong shape for the knob.
Again, looks good!

Yeah, your right. I'm trying to see if I can get that back plastic ring like you have somewhere without having to buy the entire Type R shift knob assembly. Unless someone can direct me to one?

Nice dude, I really like the look. I just got a 6 spd in Belize Blue and I love it! I think I'm going to get that same knob. A few questions though, does it feel better (heavier) than the stock shifter? Where did you get the plastic ring for the shift boot? Is that the stock shift boot? Does the boot reach when in a far gear (such as reverse)? Thanks for your help and I love your ride! I wish I had gotten Navi but it was hard enough finding the 6 spd for a good price, had to drive to another state and that dealer had to trade for it. I have Navi envy, haha.

....+2 (a Crown Royal bag works too;less bread than the Oakley approach)
best, ez....still using USN-issue sunglasses....

First things first. The Type-R knob IS heavier than the stock knob. It's aluminum billet. Heavier, smoother, and it DOES improve the shifting feel. You'll definitely like it.
The black plastic ring comes with the Type-R knob kit. I actually flipped mine upside down as it works and LOOKS better.
That is the stock shift boot. I don't really care for it. It looks and feels too much like cheap cheesy vinyl than actual leather. So eventually I'm going to change it out. I foresee that being a much bigger chore than the knob was. The boot reaches all gears just fine without pulling on the boot tightly at all. And that's after pulling up some of the slack that is originally there with the OEM knob.
The Type-R knob will screw onto the existing shaft. No mechanical modification is needed to change knobs. The OEM knob will very easily unscrew off the shaft.
I'd like to make a DIY for this, but I don't have access to my wife's camera, or the time (currently) to break into everything to take said pictures. This being the case it's a bit hard to describe everything clearly enough for someone else to do this based on my input alone.

I have an in with a guy who used to make shift boots and door pannels for the s2000. He did amazing work with custum embroidery!!! Im going to talk to him about doing some shift boots for my accord would anyone else be interested in this? Maybe I can get a group deal from him...... I think the black interior is a little bland, it needs a little color.....

What's everyone's take on Momo shift knobs? I'm not too much of a fan of Skunk2's.
I have a black EX-L MT 5 speed with black leather.
Any takes on what would be a nice match?

Momo knobs are built great maybe a touch overpriced but the on thing I must say it the allen screw thing SUCKS!!! I had momo knobs on my civics and the screws would constantly losen and/or dig into the shifter metel to a point where I needed to get longer allen screws. Oh not to mention these allen srews strip very easily, the head and the threads. Id stay away, I know I am.....

Jay,
Would you recommend another company or knob to use?

Ichibahn makes some nice ones as well they are allen screw but the neat fix is, use a "DAB" of silicone in the knob... that keeps it from coming loose unless you want it loose and keeps the screws in place.. the nice thing is silicone is tear away and doesnt permanatly alter the shaft... keep in mind everything works in one way or another, and everyone is going to find something wrong with some product on the market. simply put, find something you like and go with it. There's aLWAYS AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO MAKE IT WORK :) IMO!
Ideally, I wonder if the shift boot of the TSX/Euro Accord & shift knob would make a classier killer combo for the MT accord. It even appear that the shape at the base of the boot is identical to the Accord's and it's round where it meets the knob.

ABSOLUTELY!!! I think that's exactly what I've been looking for. Only way to tell is a side shot, to see how the boot connects to the knob. Do you happen to have a side pic? And more importantly, WHERE can I buy one? Thx.

Will probably end up biting the bullet and paying $200 for the TSX leather boot, knob, and boot ring. Can't stand the stock height of the knob (TSX is probably the same), so will butcher it so I can drill it from the top and 'countersink' it, just like I did with the stock one (1+" lower). Started a thread here and some Acura boards, but nobody helped with the darn boot base dimensions; seems almost identical, so no worries. My biggest concern is removing the 'cap' of the knob without damage, to drill it and countersink it. Will have to be the guinea pig. Hope my $200 bet pays off:hic:. Later.
