Is the LX-P worth paying more than the LX? (both with AT)

LX
The Accord LX Sedan offers everything you need to make a smart car purchase. It comes with a 177-hp, 2.4-liter i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine, Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system and double wishbone front and independent multi-link rear suspension. Air conditioning with air-filtration and illuminated steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls add interior refinement. The list of standard safety features is a long one, including: Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control, Advanced Compatibility Engineering ™ body structure (ACE™), anti-lock braking system (ABS) , front side airbags, side curtain airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Daytime Running Lights (DRL), active front head restraints and more.

LX Premium
Looking for value with a bit more style and comfort? The Accord LX Premium Sedan adds to or replaces LX features with: 16" alloy wheels, a security system, a chrome exhaust finisher, auto-up/down driver's and front passenger's windows, illuminated window switches and 8-way power adjustment for the driver's seat.

LX- $20,360
LX-P- $21,360

Auto Tranny would be about a grand more on top of either model.

The LX-P seems to be a steal for a grand extra.

Depends on whether you feel the added features that A&F listed are worth the extra $1K. I personally think they are.

Despite the ugly alloys the LX-P comes with (IMO), it's still better looking than the steelies and plastic covers on the LX. If you're planning to put aftermarket wheels on anyways, then this adds no value to you.

Regarding the powered windows, this is a feature I must have. There's no way I could ever go back to hand cranking the windows. It's a very convenient feature to have IMO.

The powered driver's seat isn't a deal breaker for me since you usually adjust it once and that's pretty much it, unless there are other drivers.

The same goes with the security system and chrome exhaust finisher.... not gonna kill the deal for me since those can always be purchased separately. Plus, the factory alarm isn't the greatest.

Power windows on the Accord have been standard at least since 2006. The LX-P adds the automatic up/down feature to the passenger side as well as illuminating all the switches in the car.

If it were me I'd want alloy wheels, and the $1000 extra about takes care of the cost of those, plus you get some other cool features.

PWR Windows have been std since 2003. :)

Go for the LX-P, you'll find that the added features will keep it from feeling old in no time at all. I like the wheels on the LX-P, I think they're sporty looking.

^ Actually, since 2003..... (after doing a bit of checking).

Last time I remember seeing non-powered windows was on a friends 6th gen Accord VP.

The LX driver's side has illuminated switches and auto up/down. The LXP adds that to the passenger's size.

I am happy with my LX. I used the stock steelies for my snow tires and will get a nice set of rims with summer tires for the warm months. Power seat isn't something I need as once my seat is set I never move it.

Not sure what the "security system" add but the LX has keyless entry as well as being able to lower all the windows from the fob. I live in rural Vermont and we rarely lock our car doors here so any extra security would be more then I need.

All that being said, it's only a small bump in price, if they had had the color combo I wanted in LXP I might have gone for it.

Even the '03 DX (VP) had power windows?

Yup! Just no power locks or mirrors. It was quite a value.

The LX-P's 8 way power seat is worth it to me for its lumbar support.

If things haven't changed, the LX has no lumbar support at all.

That 1k price difference will probably turn into something closer to 500 after negotiations. Never pay MSRP for an Accord. I'd think an ideal price for the LXP AT is $21k-21,500 OTD w/all dealer fees, tax etc. (MSRP is 22,160 before taxes etc)

With choosing the LX or the LX-P for me it really is about the wheels. If you like the allow wheels on the LX-P then it is a great deal.

If you are planning on putting aftermarket wheels I think the LX-P is not all that great of a deal for $1,000 more. It does come with an exhaust tip...you can get a custom one for under $25. Has a trunk liner...you can get that for $50. Power seats...well I don't adjust mine that often as I am usually the only driver. Security system is nice, but how good are Honda's security systems anyway. Illuminated power window switch on the passenger side...not a big plus.

Use the $1,000 you saved and get some really nice rims and higher quality tires and make your Accord stand out!

I would choose the LX-P in a heartbeat. Getting actual rims over cheap hubcaps is a must for me. My last car was a Nissan Altima 2001 GXE with hubcaps. I hated those hubcaps with a passion, even worse was that fugly black standard rim underneath that.

Also, the alarm system should be able to save you some money with insurance should it not?

Power windows/power seats, a little touch of luxury & comfort that are also good.

I prefer the LX-P also, but the $1K does not really turn into $500 because any discount you would be able to negotiate on the LX-P, you would also be able to negotiate on the LX making the net price difference the same. It doesn't make sense to compare the discounted price of one to MSRP of the other.

Power seat is nice even after you've set it if you like to adjust the position on a very long road trip.

I agree. Most likely, you'll recover some of the $1k spent to upgrade at trade-in time.

Lock the car with the remote. If the hood, trunk or any of the doors are opened, the alarm sounds.

I bought the LX-P and was seriously considering the LX but really wanted the alloys and the security system (insurance discount) let's face it if they wanted the car it's not going to stop anyone. I think it's a bargain for what I wanted. I didn't want a sunroof in this car as I had one in my 02 accord SE and it was nice but after 6 years it squeaked and rattled (not to my surprise) and let more road noise into the cabin.

Yeah tried everything the red light blinks left overnight and no alarm sound when door handle is pulled. Any suggestions? Made sure the hood and trunk were tight and closed.

the alarm doesn't go off because you pull the handle.

It only goes off if it detects glass breakage or a door/trunk is opened.

Oops. Should have been more specific: If the doors are opened from the INSIDE. Try sitting in your car with the doors closed, lock it from the remote and verify that the red light is blinking. Manually unlock a door, and open it. The alarm should go off.

Actually, only the accessory alarm has the glass breakage sensor. Unfortunatley someone can throw a brick thru your window and nothing will happen. :( But the factory units now include a hood sensor (along with door/trunk) which should help prevent the battery from being disconnected.
