(gee, i guess i wasn't initially very observant. the driver's side door is royally jacked up the sheet metal is actually peeled back from it.)

any specific angle requests, let me know. i have about 40 pics. i'm trying to upload them to one of those sharing websites now. if i can i'll post a link once it's done.

it will be ATLEAST 3 weeks before i get my car back!!!!!!!! :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

the body shop said they don't think it willbe totalled, BUT they have to rip off some panels and get a much closer look at the damage to the mechanics first. right now the front wheels are facing opposite directions... the passenger side is pointed out on direction and the driver's side is pointed out the opposite way.

wow:eek: . Did that side airbag work like it was supposed to seeing you really didnt get hurt to bad?

Looks MAJOR, but not totaled to me, but I1 is the more expert than I am on this stuff!

Looks like the hood, door, fender, bumber & related pieces.....axel, hub & their pieces.....Of course, the airbag....

I'd guess about 8K.

Seeing it, makes me shocked & VERY happy that you're OK!! WHEW!

After it's all done, then it should be aligned & ask to get a readout of the before & after..... I'd be curious about how much it changed!

You ARE lucky....it looks like replacable pieces instead of the ones they're tempted to weld on..... which isn't legal everywhere.....

3 weeks in that Neon will be making you nuts! So sorry!

Oh yeah, when you get the written estimate....if they list out all the parts....share it with us, 'K?

well, once i found out about the 3 weeks time frame, i started calling around ot more enterprise locations. i have to call back later today to a main office here. they may have either a toyota or a nissan available this afternoon. keep your fingers crossed for me!! ;) i don't think i can take 3 weeks of the neon!!

let's see read out before-WAY out of alignment!!! hehe! (attempt to make things "funny".)

they are supposed ot be using all honda replacement parts. they had better use all of them!!! but the estimate isn't done yet, so there is still a chance that it may be totalled if there is enough mechanical damage. he said it will probably be close, but not quite there with the way things look right now. this afternoon they're supposed to begin ripping off the damaged panels and get it on a lift to see what the mechanical end looks like.

he said be thankful i have a honda though. the same accident in most other cars would've ripped off the front end of the car and probably seriously injured or killed me given what he has seen come thru hiis body shop.

oh, yep, the side airbag did it's job otherwise my head probably would've hit the window.....

Yep, the 7th gen was the first year that they started using the "ACE" body structure, which is not only supposed to be much more flexible (can build more models out of it) but also a ton safer. Obviously, they weren't overexaggerating it too much...

How did all that turf get stuck up under the driver side door? Is that from the median or something?

anysia
11-11-2004, 09:11 AM
when i was pushed into the spin i spun right off the road (on the right hand side) into the little ditch area and then started to regain control and got back on the road and made a big u-turn and ended up in the left lane facing traffic.... the turf got in there sometime when i was "off-roading"......

hmm, i didn't look too well, wonder if there was any damage to the back panel??? i know the runner along the side is missing and the driver's door is messed up. i didn't think to look at the back panel to see if any of that messed up that....

here's a pic looking at the driver's door from the back end of the car... the messy area is where they were brushing dust off.

Anasia, did you take any straight front?? Just wondering if you have one with the "wandering" tires?:D

Just curious.... I thought it might give a hint as to which suspension or/and steering parts are going to need to be replaced.

I'm sure the ones you have dealing with it will have a pretty long list!

anysia
11-11-2004, 02:39 PM
oh yeah, they're going to have one heck of a long list. and they're using all honda parts (if the estimate doesn't total it). and they're replacing everything that was touched pretty much. the hood, the bumper, the side panel, the entire door, probably the wheel, the suspension, etc, etc, etc.

plus during the spin, you see i picked up a bit of grass while i was off roading. so who knows if there is any damage on the underside of the car too. they hadn't jacked it up yet to check.....

princess
11-11-2004, 02:45 PM
Other than that bottom trim piece, the underside might be fine. Hey, if this Ody can go over three 2-3' boulders & survive.....:D what's a little turf?

anysia
11-11-2004, 02:52 PM
but who knows what's on the side of pennsylvania highways! :lmao:

the anticipation of finding out the estimate on my car and getting my car back (or another honda) is driving me nuts!!! and i have ateast 3 weeks to go?!?!?!?!?

BenjiBoy650
11-11-2004, 02:52 PM
If the frame was bent will they replace the car? lol well anyway I think probably the underside is fine.

anysia
11-11-2004, 02:54 PM
i do know that the metal piece where the trim piece fell off of is bent a bit below where the door is messed up at... i couldn't get it in the pics too well though. one of the many things that was a bit hard to convey thru pictures!

anysia

here's a pic of the indentation on the roof... still arguing about who's responsible and has to pay to get it fixed..... :censored:

i'm trying to get a pic of some of the other oddities...

princess
01-08-2005, 08:47 AM
Continue to fight..... that's not acceptable!:(

anysia
02-01-2005, 10:53 AM
well, it goes in on the 21st to hopefully get the dent removed via a dent wizard guy and to get the other list of things looked at by the insurance guy to see if they'll fix them or not.

a piece of pink plastic (looks like some sort of clip??) fell out from underneath my passenger's side front seat sometime over the weekend. i have to post a pic of it because i have NO idea what it is or where it came from. maybe someone here will... :(

my list is still growing! the driver's side door is making a clangy thunk sound instead of it's original resounding thud (you can hear a drastic difference between it and the passenger side door.) the gas tank doesn't pop open when you push the button. i always end up having to push it atleast twice to get it to open, same goes or the trunk now as well.

a new indentation is appearing on the opposite corner of the sunroof as well.

i'm about 90% sure the unibody is crooked at this point!

princess
02-01-2005, 12:28 PM
I think the gas tank & trunk thing may be controlled by a cable, it may have been tweaked in the crunch or in the repair. Either way it should be looked at & the whole thing replaced if needed.

I don't know why the door would sound different... did they replace it with a new one? If so, I hope it wasn't with a non Honda one... the panels tend to be thinner form what I've seen. If they repaired it without replacing it, it may just have a different pitch to the sound from bondo type stuff.

I'm clueless why you'd be having "appearances" of dents in the top.... Even if the frame wasn't perfect, I don't know if it would cause that... Some of these guys are much more knowledgable in bodywork & may have an answer on that on...

Hopefully they'll get more of this figured out for you on the next appointment!:)

anysia
02-01-2005, 05:40 PM
apparently they replaced the shell of the door instead of the entire thing... so betwene the new metal, a new speaker, and some stuff in between the inside and outside, the original door is there still (partly atleast)....

they were supposed to use all honda parts for everything. i know the hood was def honda and the wheel, beyond that, it's kinda hard to really tell.

there are numerous odd dents in places in the door frames and such as well that i haven't even brought up...

the weird thing is i am about 90% sure that the indent in the roof was not there after the accident when i took the pics. it is something that happened while it was in the body shop's care. it's really odd because before the accident there was no noticeable indent on any of the corners of the sunroof and now you can see the big one on the passeger side/front and a smaller one on the drivers side/back. the other 2 corners still look like the car originally looked.

Accord! =]
