New member here and looking very hard at purchasing a 08 Accord coupe EX-L V6 M6 w/0 Navi within the next couple of weeks.

I am the kind of person who likes doing their homework before signing on the bottom line. Based on everything I have been able to find on the net and on this board, it appears this is a VERY solid car, however I realize the best information comes from actual owners.

There appears to be an issue with the headlights not being bright enough...so I am already considering an HID conversion kit.

Would appreciate any other gotchas or surprises that main stream review fail to mention.

BTY...this will be my 8th Honda

Thanks!!!!

Hey indiana, I just asked a similar question regarding the headlights of the coupe owners and noone seems to have a problem with them. It is the sedan owners who dont have the projector headlights that seem to hate them. HIDs would be sweet and much brighter, but it doesnt look like a necessary upgrade.

Welcome to the board. Browse thru the 8th gen or gallery forums or do a search. Quite a few of us have threads started with feedback about our impressions / experiences.

But feel free to ask if you have any specific questions.

Quick note: I love my 08 Coupe. Honda did a great job with it. Its a solid, well rounded vehicle that delivers some very good performance and day to day livability.

I apprecaite the headlight info, I was not aware this concern was just with the sedan....so I have already learned something new today!!!!

BTY...I will trading my 06 Infiniti G35 6m coupe on the Accord coupe. Nothing wrong with the Infiniti, just miss my Honda

Thanks again

the only surprise you will have is if you keep alot of stuff in your car, very few practical places for stuff....but since this is such a small thing....it just means you will have a cleaner car since you wont put that much in it to store, haha

oh and what color are you thinking of getting?

I have to aggree with this. This is my biggest - practically *only* - real complaint about my Coupe. Compared to my 06, storage is really limited. And what's available, is awkward to use.

On the topic of storage, get the trunk cargo net. It's awesome.

doug , what side of indy do u live on ?

I ask, because I'd be willing to show you around my car... after 2000 miles on the clock, I could give you a nice 'in person' run down and ring her out a lil on 465 or 31 for ya.

I'm putting HID's in this evening (yes a garage, not outside in the yucky crap while the temp drops), wanna help ? lol j/k...it should only be 30 -45 minutes, im familiar with HID installs already with much more complicated (less PNP) than this.

What dealers have you looked at , Penske ? The one down in Greenwood? Up in Kokomo ? I can def. give u some bargaining knowledge to be prepared with..

pm me if ya want...good to see another indy resident on here !

Really?!? Wow, I'd keep the G. Yes it's smaller than the '08 but the G is a great car and holds its value very well. Plus, don't forget that this 8th gen. is the first model year and it's too early to tell how well it is going to hold up.

i thought infiniti's are notorious for not holding up their values.
G's are nice though..

yeah infinities don't hold their values, they are made by nissan.

That is a terrible comparison, though, as the market sure doesn't view it that way; they are different companies and their cars have totally different features. That's like saying a Chevy is the same thing as a Cadillac because it is GM and shares parts. Yes it may have some similarities, but one is definitely more luxurious and sells for more.

Look it up: even '04 Gs are selling for a very good price (for the owner). I selected an '04 because 4+ years is typically one heck of a depreciation hit for any vehicle, and kbb is saying it is still worth $24,975:

Not bad for almost 5 years old! If that's not holding its value, I don't know what is...

WOW...I really appreciate all the great insite and advice.

Krazyfiend...if it's not to much trouble, I would like to chat with you. I live on the NW side of Indy and have chatted with Penske, Honda West and Kokomo. I have test driven one a couple times, but chatting with you would be great. Feel free to contact me at indianadoug@hotmail.com

Regarding the G, I knew the following when I bought it: rough ride with the sport suspension & 19" tires, but honestly the ride has been rougher than I my 10 year old prelude. I have not presented the G to a dealer regarding trade in, however like I mentioned before, I am one who does their home work so I know what numbers to expect.

I also have to STRONGLY agree with ESHBG. I typically do not like buying first year models for the very same reason. With that said, I am in no hurry to purchase one, at least that is what I am telling the dealership. I believe the 09 models will not be available until around September. I have been searching the net trying to find any information regarding what might be modified for the 09 model...but have found nothing yet. All good points to consider.

For it's shape, it's not RWD...hehe.

(just stoking the flame, pay me no mind).

I agree with the headlight issue though.

It probably depends on the Infiniti.
I only got $7000 for my 2002 G20 (KBB was $7900), but I've seen 2003 G35s going for $23.5k...

I will say, G20s have the worst pseudo-cupholders EVER. One is under the center dash and is about an inch thick. BARELY fits a Starbucks tall sized hot cup. The 2nd one is a removable one in the center console, so if you have a drink... don't even think about having anything in the center console. And don't brake too hard either because the cup will tilt forward and you've got a latte in your parking brake area. Oh great!

I sold my 04 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT and replaced it with an 08 Accord coupe 5AT. The G35 was a fun car to drive for sport, but was not very comfortable when wanting a relaxed commute (the majority of my driving). The Accord is probably a little to "soft" for me, but I do prefer it as a daily commuter over the G.

Overall, Honda ergonomics and general design are superior to that of Nissan/Infiniti. The G had some irritating quirks and inferior design that for me overshadowed its benefits. Every so often I miss the G, and probably will more during the summer, but perhaps the Accord will surprise me with its abilities (even as a 5AT).

i like infinities designs, but you can always tell they are nissan they are so similar. the problem is the rest, for that value i'd go with a mercedes or something. my dads infinity is 15 years old, only has 120 thousand miles, and is falling apart. it just got major suspension work, and its driven gently.
