I've got a Passport 8500 that i've had for about 5 years now - It's always been pretty good with a low rate of falses. Since i've had my new Accord i get them 10 times as much as before, seems like when i turn off the car, is about a 50/50 shot, but other then that it seems pretty random.

I can disable Laser on this detector, which is great, but I want it enabled!
My last car was (Infiniti FX35) had the intelligent cruise control that shot a laser out, so that caused false alarms and made me disable it too, i thought i'd finally get my laser detection back when i moved to this car but am I wrong, or is something wrong with my detector?

Any fellow Passport 8500 (non x50) users have this problem? Or any other Top Shelf (Bel, V1, or Escort) Radar Detector users have this issue?

Thanks!
Andy

I have a V1 and I dont get anything like that. Sounds like you just need to go ahead and upgrade to the latest and greatest.

No falsing with my RX65, where do you have it mounted? It should be as low on the windshield as possible or directly on the dash as long as the wipers don't block it. There is one place near an airport where I get a warning now that I think of it. If it's a real police laser it's too late anyway....pull over.

I have the passport 8500(x50), did you try sending it back to passport for upgrade? I know my buddy had the same problem with his, the non x50 and he sent it back to passport for upgrade in the software or something like that. And ever since, i havent heared him complain about it.

Isn't it better to have it mounted higher? The lower it is the more its blocked by the bodies of other cars. At a higher location it can "see" better. Not to mention if you have a V1 or anything else that reads stuff from behind, the higher the better.
