View Full Version : Any way to disable Auto Locking doors

For me it's not a problem, as i'm the driver and the drivers door opens with a pull of the door handle, but for passengers everytime we get out of the car they must either manually unlock the door before opening or i must press the door unlock button (which i never remember to do because i don't need to to open my door)
This "feature" is very annoying, not the auto locking, but the lack of an auto unlocking after the car is turned off.
Is there either a way to have it automatically unlock all doors when the car is shut off, or if not is there a way to disable this "feature" completely?
Is anyone else with me on this one?
Thanks,
Andy

Yes you can change this. The instructions are in the quick reference guide.

^^^
in the guide you can see instructions to program the car to open when u shut the car off , or simply put the car into park (a better option for myself)

Isn't there a way to open all the windows if you hold down the unlock button on the Key FOB?

2nd click and hold down the button... windows and sunroof (if equipped) open.

The procedure is in the manual, fwiw, myself and a lot of other guys on the Edmund's Accord forum all had trouble with it. Not sure what we/i was doing wrong but I eventually just dropped by my dealership and the tech did it for me, no more auto lock at all now. I prefer it that way.

Disabled my Auto-Lock feature by following the instructions in the Quick Reference Guide.
Particularly irritating on the MT models.

:dunno:
It took two tries to get mine, about a total of two minutes, including referencing it in the quick reference manual (helpful little thing). I had to change it out my second day of ownership...my gf was irritated that she had to manually unlock the doors or wait for me to do unlock hers from the drivers side.:)
I had a tougher time figuring out how to replace the rear license plate light...and that was so simple, i felt like an idiot after figuring it out.:D

By default the doors lock at 9mph and the drivers door only unlocks when you put the car in park.
I adjust mine to unlock both doors on my Coupe when you put the car into park. So if your dropping off a friend or have a passenger in the car the doors unlock.
The instructions are fairly decent, although it took me a few tries.

That's nice for you  I felt like a dummy as I'm fairly mechanically inclined and completely able to follow instructions....but it just wouldn't work right for me.... and I tried it a bunch of times. Do you have an automatic?
I didn't have a problem reprogramming the auto locks. Got it on the first try.
Two tips:
Time is of the essence. The steps have to be performed within a certain amount of time of each other. Read the instructions first to familiarize yourself with them.
Pay attention to the key position and whether the instructions state to have the driver's door opened or closed and when.

It only took me one try to get that right with a M/T. Guess I can follow directions. :)
but yeah before i changed it, it was pissing my girlfriend off!

Oh the Owners Manual, last place i look lol.
Sorry for the unnecessary post - but apparently a lot of folks wanted to weigh in anyway.
I'll take a crack at it tomorrow.
Thanks!

Can someone post instructions for those of us who are too lazy to open our glove box and flip through the manual? thx ;)~
Wow talk about lazy! It's a pretty lengthy procedure.
Do you want me to drive your car for you too? LOL
