This morning, RPM (a one-hour French TV auto weekly in Quebec) tested the 2008 Accord Sedan EX-L w/ Navi 5MT. The videos should be available at http://www.tqs.ca/emissions/rpm/ in a week or two (again, sorry only available in French). The results were:

- exterior design: debatable, some pros and cons, but not ground breaking

- interior design: impressive, but not innovative (the huge Navi button in the middle of the console was not too much appreciated as were the climate buttons situated on the passenger side; the passenger seat not to accommodating for small passenger - the door is too high and the seat cannot be adjusted). I am not too concerned about the last one as I am a 6.1' person. However, very comfortable on the back seats.

- 0-60: 7.8s (not bad, but the real power comes at high revs so it still seems unsufficiently responsive for everydays uses). If the 5AT would come at 8.2s - 8.5s, is just acceptable for me.:)
- 60-0: 130 ft
- 30-0: 22.5 ft (emergency braking)
The braking distance was judged as unacceptable in both situations and the too small front and rear disc brakes, along with average quality pads and calipers could be the cause the poor braking performance. It was said that the size of the rear disc brakes seem not to be much more larger than those in the 2008 Civic EX (?):dunno:.

Underneath, the Accord has a solid built, well done and well treated anti-rust.

Overall, the Accord was appreciated as being a solid value, but while the quality is ok, the driving experience (in terms as performance) seems to get closer to Camry's as never before, while Camry's driving abilities are getting closer to what Accord is well-knwon for.

I think it was posted the AT EX does low-mid 8 sec (CanD ? ).
Also I thought most reviews said accord braking was very good.

I see nothing with size of rotors, all accords are over 11" which IMO in "general" is very decent size. Good pads should go long way with improving braking more.

Civic coupe is 10.3/10.2
Civic SI= 11.8/10.2
accord Ex =11.8/11.1
accord lx= 11.1/11.1

The braking is good for just one emergency brake but repeditive was where the results went down.

That would make sense, as we don't have vented rotors so the pads don't cool very well.

But in must "real world" scenario you only need one emergency break every so often, if you need more then that they you should either pay attention more or upgrade your brakes! :)
