Remember my being all excited for my prince's purchase of the iQue3600?

Well, he broke it!

He made a mount for it to take bkies rides with him....he didn't like the amount of time the battery life was....sooo....

He made a "ponytail" thing for the light battery on the bike since they are the same amp/voltage.....

Apparently he pushed the thing in too far & jammed the little pins in WAY TOO FAR....

Since they are the same as the charging unit they'll fix it for him, but he has to send it out to them.....

It was a weekend for breaking things....

He broke then had to fix the computer....

He offered to let Brownie, the kid's dog stay here while they had company....the dog fell into the pool when we weren't home....he's OK, but wasn't smart enough to get out! He had to be rescued.

Broke our peace & quiet by offering to let the kids move in for 6 months while Jacob gets his business off the ground....

It was one of THOSE weekends!!:bawling:

We were gone about an hour & a half.....at Hunter's party. We only came home because I forgot to take some munchies..... he walked home with me & there's the dog! Floundering in the pool! He's going to get swimming lessons as soon as he moves in! I guess technically they'd be "getting out lessons".;)

Well, he found out there's even a newer fangled thing out there for using as a diagnostic tool/computer for work....

today he ordered this:
Axim X50 624 MHz
Axim X50v, Intel(r) 624MHz, 128MB ROM 64MB SDRAM, VGA 802.11b, BT, Free Windows MobileTM 5.0 Upgrade CD w/any Axim X50
Qty: 1

with some extra bells & whistles......

the car program thing is free when getting the rest through Dell.

I wonder which one will be going to Hawaii???? :dunno:

Although he really likes his little iQ, this new one has the capibility to use the actual HONDA programs for the codes & stuff.

I told him if he SELLS, not gives away the iQ for about 200 he would've used it for free! He'd sold the older GPS & it's software for part & this would finish that off... Jacob really needs a portable map.... so who knows.

I really like hearing that someone has it! To me, this was out of the blue..... but he claims he's been researcing for a while. :dunno:

When first mentioned it, I said no problem, after our trip to HI. That's what I was told about getting a flat panel TV for the bedroom! :lmao: So he ordered the pocket PC & we got the TV last night.... :naughty:

Well yesterday some of the cables arrived... wrong DJ kit. So Dell will be trying again. Today the little cell phone size GPS came. Does that mean the hand held it'self doesn't have GPS & you need this separate thing? Or did he order something else. I think the little size is cool...especially for our trip IF we can load in all the islands we plan to visit.

Gadgets, always more gadgets......

That's what I was afraid of.... another piece to it....

Yeah, it's bluetooth.

Ok, I don't like Dell company!! A month ago he ordered the new hand held...back order.... every week we get an email that says next week for shipping. Then today he went on their site to check the status again & they have a special on the same thing for 35% less!! He called. Even though they haven't shipped his order, they won't discount it!! That's a 135.00 savings!! So he emailed them. They're not responding!

This will probably be the one & only time we order from them!! :thumbsdow

Maybe they're part of Comcast!!! :lmao: I'm sure by now we're blackballed by them!!

Why don't he cancel the current order and re-order the hand-held? Dell's prices change all the time.. one day, it could be $500, the next day, it could be $250.. It all depends on the discounts on their site and the coupons floating out there on the internet.

princess

1. because that puts him back to the bottom of the waitng list.
2. because this "special" is for this week only & by the time he was reimbursed it would be over.
3. If he were to order it without the special it's gone up another nearly $100 in the past month for just the unit without GPS, etc.

He really wanted this for work....he knows someone is going to walk off the shop one & he uses the diagnostic tools the most. He wouldn't be accused of taking it, but he likes having his own...saves time.

It gives him someone to fight with while I'm arguing with Comcast! :D

He starts up grumbling all over again whenever theres a Dell commercial on.

I think he's being officially ignored by them now. They haven't answered his emails. But the good news is it MAY speed up the shipping so they can use it as an excuse to not give him the discount.

Dell reminds me a lot of TigerDirect in the poor customer service we've had! YEARS ago when he was building one of our computers he ordered the new MMX. He was one of the first 500 to get one & even got a Tshirt stating it. Well, they we're slow with shipping & upgraded his motherboard because of it. When the case didn't arrive, he called. They said now there wasn't enough funds for that too. They had upgraded at OUR expense, but made it sound as if it was a favor to us! Now Dell has upgraded our shipping to next day. I wonder how much that will cost us?

I'm really not impressed by them. A friend that bought a computer from them is happy & we thought we'd give them a try since their Axim & HP are the only ones compatible with the Honda program.

He'll get it eventually for the price he had originally agreed to pay. No discounts. We seem to never get any discounts! Everytime I order from JC Penneys I get something telling me about free shipping or 25% off AFTER the fact. Same with the Disney Direct store.....

Oh well, that's life....

That's just wrong. How can you offer deep discounts on a product that you can't ship out? I liked Dell before, currently using Dell. But probably not again.

At first they said the slow shipping was due to the promo.....then they did another promo!!

This was ordered on July 12th....the most recent shipping date is now Aug. 4th, but they're always pointing out there's a possiblity it won't be shipped then.

I don't remember where I read this, but Dell works with a JIT (just in time) system... They don't have a massive inventory, but they are usually able to make units fast enough to cover the number ordered. If the demand is unusually high, then that's why they can't ship out the items yet.

princess
08-03-2005, 01:37 PM
Sounds about right, but if they can't keep up with one promo, it's really stupid to start another! :dunno:

SSMV6

Not that I'm vouching for Dell or anything, but sometimes they have a site-wide sale.. ie. 15% off electronic gizmos or 20% off certain Laptops, etc... if the item you're trying to buy falls under the sale category and they didn't raise the price to accomodate, then that's how you get a sale after a sale. It's not intentional and most of the time, they do catch it and raise the price by 25% to accomodate. I got a laptop drive from them for $130 (original price was $160) and ever since then the price stayed above $160 for the same drive after the discounts!

princess

I'm sure you're right...that's why the one he ordered costs more now.... then they put together a package that has the handheld with the extras he added.

Sears does this all the time! They'll have say 3 vacuumes. Gray, green & blue. All the same features & power. Green one will be on sale one week, gray one the next.... then they have a "regularly priced" one to compare it to. Whatever is one sale HAS to have been offered at the regular price at sometime.

I'm more peeved at the SSSLLLLOOOOWWW shipping than the price change myself. I'm the one who has to be available for receiving! :)

But then you get to give the package to your prince and when you see him smile, it's all worth it.

Yeah, sometimes when he's had a really awful day, I really love to brighten it that way too!

I did get in trouble once.... I hide some stuff he'd ordered close to his birthday! He got them....just a week or so after he thought he should! :D He was contacting the senders & in a panic.... :paranoid: I CAN keep my mouth shut when I need to!! :lmao: (I didn't let him go too far with griping to the companies.... I kept reminding him about how shipping slows in Dec.) :naughty:

princess
08-03-2005, 02:51 PM
This has become quite a comedy.... Dell just called. They will gladly give the discount IF he cancells the first order & starts all over on the wait time. I was lied to though, I asked about the refund, he claimed we hadn't been charged yet... & YES, we have. So there's a complication.... I'm not wanting him to tie up more funds this close to vacation time!

So I think he'll just forget he ever saw the promo & keep his spot on the list!

I need one of those "pens" from Men in Black!!! :lmao:

In return for confirming that we are NOT changing anything about the order they gave another shipping date: Aug 19th.... the last one was the 4th, before that July 27th, & July 21st. The original one was July 14th.

I told him MAYBE he can get it for his birthday in Dec.!!

Having talked to several customer service people...i have officially decided I don't like Dell. Not having the item isn't as much my problem as how they're handling it.

They did finally change it on their site. It did say 3-5 days. Now it says at least Aug. 16th. The email said 15-30 days. If it had said there's a 30+ day wait, he may have gone with HP instead.

Since it's now unclear when we'll get it, he loaded all the Hawaii maps back into the iQ.

The saga continues..............

See if you can find Michael Dell's email address on the web and send him an email with all of this information. You may be surprised at your results.

I bought 2 combination TV/DVDs from Homedepot.com because they had a great price on them for xmas gifts for my girls. One went bad after 3 months. I shipped the TV back to them and after 3 weeks of errors and mis-information from their customer service people I still did not have a replacement TV and they would not ship me one until the errors were corrected. I lost my temper and went off on one of the reps. I hated doing that, but I couldn't help myself. This solved nothing, so I researched and found the email address for the Executive Vice President that was ultimately responsible for homedepot.com and sent a 2 page email to him with all of the information. I received a call within 2 hours and the TV was overnighted and received the next day!!! Amazing how that works. One thing that still makes me upset was that not one person said "I am sorry" they just upgraded my shipping to overnight for free and thought that was a great deal. At that point I was too tired to complain anymore.

Checking the order status...they claim it shipped today.... Saturday?? According to one of the people we've been writing, it's supposed to go out "next day"...so we'll see. If that's true we should have it by Tuesday, right? :dunno:

princess

The new toy arrived today....they did upgrade the shipping to "next day", but the leather case they said they send as compensation for the long wait wasn't in there. Not a big deal, just it wasn't asked for....it was their idea & that kind of thing drives me nuts! I'm staying out of it though!!

So tonight I'll be a PDA widow as he plays with it moves into it!

He did run out & get a little micro drive (4gb) for it. Let the fun begin!!! :lmao:

It's got the cutest little folding keyboard!!! When all folded it's about the same size as the PDA. :D When open it's nearly as big as the laptop's, 'cept it doesn't have a numbers row....you push another "shift" type key for them.
