Has anyone got their's started?

I thought we were about finished, then I remembered a few others I want to buy for.... We're keeping it simple this year.

My prince's Bday is also in Dec. I already got his gift....he helped pick it out. It's a 12" laser guided compound miter saw & a thing to put it on. Oh boy, another power tool! He has a 10" miter saw, but it's not laser or compound....

We also have 2 other Dec. birthdays... our youngest kid & my mom. I haven't picked up anything for them yet, I should be in a panic. Mom's is the second & I'll need to ship it to NV!:(

We've often started in August, so it wouldn't be such a burden.....but didn't this year.

I'm not sure why.....but we're just "off" this year with everything. I'm having Thanksgiving divver here & haven't done a thing!

I really love shopping though.....we've been getting an item or two each week. It's fun to spread it out! They're wrapped, but not ribboned & stashed.

This week I've been freezing, so it feels like the time to be shopping!:D

I do all mine in the 3-4 days right before xmas after I fly home. Hopefully things won't be too picked over.

Many of us are in a different financial place than we've been before! We've been trying to get things paid off.... we charged a wee bit more on the vacation than we should have....:(

Maybe we can all exchange cyber presents this year! We can all meet here On say Dec. 22 at noon CA time & have a Xmas party! We can list out what we "got" each other!

No peeking!:D

You have to "buy" for at least 4 people, the 2 above & below you on the members list.

I guess, if they're not active, then go to the next one that is....

Greg, you're such a guy!! I think that's why they sell so many cordial cherries!:D

Yeah I know, but it really isn't my fault. Usually I'm not one to wait 'til the last minute, but my entire family lives in CA, and I'm in MI. So I would end up spending a lot of money for shipping if I bought presents here. Although I think what I did last year takes the cake. About november of last year my work bought a bunch of computers that came with free printers. So I gave one to my mom as a christmas present. I paid the shipping to send that one home :). Anyway, I finally told her about 2 weeks ago, and she wasn't surprised. It was good for a laugh for my brother and I last christmas though.

P.S. What exactly are cordial cherries? Are they the chocolate covered cherries?

Yep.

They usually have them stacked in discount stores & super markets during holiday time. My prince actually likes them! Well, some of them. I think they're yucky!

what about the kids??

i haven't started xmas shopping yet. not sure if i'll be able to make it back to pittsburgh to visit at all or not (new job and all, hard call...), so what i get for people kinda hinges on whether i'll be driving it there or mailing it. i think maybe i'll start celebrating xmas in july. :lmao:

The year he's making treasure chests for the boys.... it looks like they'll be really cool. Their names will light up with fiber optics, they'll have a false inner top with lit up "jewels". They have the look of a pirate's chest. I'll post one when there's a finished product.

The 2 have have us stumped are Crystle & Eric. :dunno:

My cards were all hand made this year. I'm sending about 70 out, most have been addressed & notes written in them.... I'm still working on that one.

I don't have a clue what I want..other than bubble bath. I always ask for it & rarely get it. One of those "too simple" things & no one bothers. All his wants may be too pricey for me.

I wanted my Canon 20D for Christmas, but with a photo safari coming up and the NYC marathon I want to make sure I get some good shots. So I made my purchase early! And since I'm on the NYC marathon staff (dealing with radio and communications) I'll be getting some good close up shots!

Not sure what I'll buy for others yet. I used to spend a lot at xmas. When my ex and I were together we bought liquor for all of the building staff (doormen, porters, maintenance people). We got a nice hefty discount and no tax at all because her dad (diplomat) bought it for us.

This year I may decorate. It all depends since I may be out of town for part of the holidays.

But one thing I'm not doing is going all out like my former neighbors (in Astoria, Queens). See below:

I haven't begun shopping yet, but plan too within the next two weeks - I never know what anyone wants so I wing it and always end up spending too much money.

Don't know what I'm asking for yet either? :dunno:
Although, it probably won't be jewlery this year (which is my norm); last year asked for David Yurman, my lovely man bought me a beautiful bracelet and matching ring...lost the bracelet January 16th in the city - it just fell off my wrist. I'm still carrying around the guilt... :bawling:

Regardless of what I end up with...I'll be thankful.

I have a neighbor now like that! :lmao:
It only gets worse from here on out until the holidays are over...
right now her front yard looks SO gaudy - the entire front yard is covered in blow up Halloween figures, lights, spider web - you name it, it's there! :lmao:

I also have a neighbor that has LOTS of mismatched decorations at Xmas.... her own daughter said "it looks like Xmas came & barfed all over our yard & roof".... I LOVED that description!! :lmao: So true!!

I'll have to remember that description next time I think about my neighbor; it's a good one indeed! :lmao:

They do halloween too. TRUST me their Halloween stuff is even MORE over the top than their xmas stuff. I just didn't have a good camera then to take a photo.

Jewelry is nice to give to your SO, and I admit to being the typical guy who buys that stuff. But that seems to be so plain and there's only so much you can have. The women I've been with with tend to have a preference for indian jewelry though (some of it is very pretty and intricate). Pendants and ankle bracelets are my favorite to give because I think they look so sexy. :naughty:

Clothes and stuff are nice, so I used to browse the victoria's secret catalog to umm... shop (what do you think I look at them for?)

The worst thing I hate hearing is, "oh honey, you don't have to get me anything." You know damn well you want something lol... Don't think I'm that stupid to make that mistake!

One of my old g/f's gave me a gold keychain for my car keys, engraved with mine and her name in it. I really felt hard taking this gift because I'm sure it cost her a lot and she was only 17. I was 19. (In my former home country that's legal... and fairly common.) But she said that she'd feel bad if I didn't take it so I did anyway.

Shopping? This Christmas will be pretty slim. In fact all of the decorations, tree, etc. are in storage. I won't EVEN try to dig them out.......IF we're still here, that is.
