John, from Quebec Canada. Do any of you who live in extreme cold climate have any problems with the fuel door opening???

I took possession of my car on January 11, and since then EVERY TIME I go to refuel , I always have to push on the inside lever fuel door release by pushing it many times for it to open my fuel door.

I would have to press on it and then bang a few times on the fuel door and try again and again until it finally opens.

The first time it happened, I figured it was because I washed the car the previous day. The car is parked in a heated condo garage, I figured it should have dried up overnight, and didn't think much of it.

Its now a month and 2 days (but who's counting:lmao:) and every visit at the gas station i have to go through this annoying ritual of depressing the lever X amount of times and banging on the fuel door.

Am I the only one here with that problem or have any of you living in a cold climate region had this same problem by any chance? :dunno:

Sounds like the cable/cable release needs to be adjusted. I don't have a problem with mine. It pops right open first time.

:stupid:

Take it to the dealer and have them adjust the release.

I have the same exact problem with my coupe. It took me over 30 attempts to final open that gas cover up. I was planning on taking mine to the dealer this weekend.

My fuel filler door was doing the same thing. I had to push the gas release a few times.

I bent the tab on the door back just a hair. :paranoid: :D Works fine now but if it starts doing it again, I will have the dealer adjust the release.

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. It looks like you could bend the entire door itself causing it to not be flush with surrounding body panels. Bend it too far and I imagine it wouldn't latch at all.

Wow, I didn't think anyone else would have this problem other then me, glad you brought this topic up. I live in Virginia where it doeesnt get to cold and have the same problem. I find sometimes it works better if I hold the gas lever down and then after a few seconds it pops open. I'm waiting on my first oil change which should be soon to talk to the dealer about it.

I also thought I was the only one with this problem of always going back to check to see if it opened. I kinda hate the lock it has on my accord. Maybe I will change it to the eject button instead of the fuel door

I got the same problem too. I found that if you push the lever from its base (as opposed to the edge), that it'll come out more reliably (not 100 %). WoW, I thought mine is a lemon. I'm going to take it to the dealer too next week. Little things like these can really ruin the experience of an otherwise great car.

And, yes I live in New England.
